There's lots of services to see and drive - loads of new layering of trains from existing TSW routes.

Paddington is full of action. Multiple trains arriving, departing and moving around you, at the same time, with there being various points where you may have to wait for your path/platform.

 

Im so looking forward to this release its gonna be so better to the one we have now.

DTG Liam will the night riviera be represented and if so will we be able to drive from Reading depo to Paddington early evening and then back to Reading on night part of the journey? I know it technically doesn’t stop there

That’s amazing. So impressed with the level of detail. Hopefully that service will also be represented in the Rivieria line! Would be great to get the night sleeper as an add on but I guess it’s pretty niche and doesn’t offer all that much game play.

To say that the headway between each train is tight would be an understatement - no idea how Liam has managed to pull off this masterpiece

Exactly how it was (probably still is) on the real thing when I was a TRC in the Western Route Control. At some times of the day you had trains on two minute headways, which meant even a tiny incident or delay could snowball. No chance of slotting a VSTP tamper move out of West Ealing or an additional/retimed freight into a validated path.

In fact it is probably busier now. Our “Tuesday Cucumber Club” outing yesterday took us all the way up to Paddington. My legs are still aching from all the walking we did and wallet still protesting from the cost of buying food in London (next time take sandwiches). However that aside, on both the Up and return journeys we seemed to be passing a non stop procession of Elizabeth Line Class 345’s on the Relief Lines.

If anyone wants an idea as to what is layered into this new timetable, then this should give you a bit of an insight -

 

I don't mean to sour the tone because I'm really looking forward to this, but have Gen8 compromises been finalised? I may have missed it in the announcements if so.

Just like in real life along the GWML, you're really got to time your speed and braking well, to keep the momentum up and try not to come to a halt a red signals! Restarting a heavy freight service from standstill isn't particularly fun. (Well, in TSW it is, however in real life, I can imagine some pretty peeved freight drivers being stuck behind a stopper )

 

Well I know what I'll be doing when I get my hands on this.

That being getting annoyed at my not so good braking.

 

It’s such a busy route. I hope that the Reading to Oxford and Swindon part gets made at some point. I was at Pangbourne this week and the amount of trains during the hour was incredible. So much freight too. Be good if this got made in the same time period with route hop at Reading. DTG Liam assume route hop at Reading will be set to Exeter?

 

From what I've been seeing and reading, this sounds like a totally new route (I know it isn't but you know what I mean).

Few stupid questions maybe Liam but will the services from original route be stikl in there and progress carried across or brand new completely and are there more services or less.

 

There will be two timetables to choose from - the original one and the new, much beefier remaster one, which Liam has made.

Regarding any progress on the OG timetable, this should be retained during the upgrade.

 

Technically there'll be three; since there's also the Diesel Legends timetable

 

The one thing I noticed about GWE is the lighting in the HST when starting from cold. The lights are off and when the train moves lights come on? Does the wheel moving generate power for the lights

 

With the extra freight services, another thing this remaster offers is (more) use of freight terminal facilities, such as the aggregates loader/unloader, as well as utilising sidings which weren't used in the OG TT.

Just finished a service which offered lots of yellow and red signals en-route, as well as a lot of shunting/run-a-rounds upon arriving at the terminal.

It's fun watching the traffic on the busy GWML pass you, whilst you do your shunting duties. Don't let the traffic on the mainline distract you, mind

Sorry Liam, I wasn't clear, I meant the saloon lights on the HST.

 

Is there any estimate when this will come out?

 

Liam's aiming to get it out before Christmas.

 

Quite a few fixes going in with the route too, which are/were present with the OG route.

 

With the HST and 166 layering on to the Riviera Line, will the TOD4 updates for these two trains come with the launch of TSW6 or at a later date with the remaster?

 

I completed SEHS timetable of 1,280 or so. How many services will the remstered version of GWE have?

 

Probably depends on the state of Riviera like the issues with this being delayed so much because of the state of WCMLS last year. Hoping for all involved that Riviera will have a smooth release.
