I'm not actually sure if a single bug from this route's release has been fixed at all. It's a shame because this route has so much potential but is unfortunately riddled with bugs.
Scenarios only! Sorry, I should've clarified. The timetable is fine! I've noticed this issue occurs with scenarios on many routes, honestly.
If the blurred textures aren’t fixed I believe we might have to wait for the route extension to come out before we see any changes.
Hi there! Is the BR Class 378 train dual-mode? And are there points in the schedule where the mode needs to be switched, as is the case on the SEHS line? There is currently a discount on this route on Steam, and I am considering purchasing it. I am interested in this point regarding AC/DC modes.
There are jobs that use third Rail but they are like 2min jobs other then that everything else is pantograph.
Got it, thanks. So, the third rail isn't really used? Is this more of a “special case” than standard practice?
It gets used elsewhere; it layers onto WCML Euston to Milton Keynes running the LO services to Watford Junction which use the third rail
Third rail is also used on the services between Canonbury & Highbury & Islington but those are really short as previously stated. If any new DLC comes out featuring the full version of the Windrush line where that line is fully third rail then those are more opportunities for third rail usage using the 378, and as previously said it’s also used on the WCMLS’s Lioness Line which is also fully third rail. So yes some Overground lines do use the third rail on the 378.
There are still bugs with this DLC - Horn sound clipping - Gaps in tunnel so you can see through the world - View is too low in 378 cab - Can open doors before coming to a halt - The safety system key switches are still slightly off position to click them you need to aim left of them - The righthand wiper on the 378 doesn't function, the screen gets cleaned but the wiper doesn't move - Still have the gangway dissapearing problem on DC services on WCML:S - The cab blind once pulled down the area where you are able to click and drag stays at the top as if it were not deployed. - 378 does not feature cruise control yet cruise control can be set and activated using controller/keyboard shortcuts These really need to be fixed before the extension is released, getting tired of being a beta tester and then having reported problems completely bloody ignored. The idea of getting an extension to this really p*sses me off when the bugs from the first part haven't even been fixed yet.
I find it insane how this route has received like a singular post-release patch & then we’re told that issues with the route are passed back to other teams or the 3rd party developer. However, they end up either taking 1-2yrs to arrive in a patch or they never get patched at all. Nothing major e.g. blurry textures will likely ever get fixed which is unfortunate. As it seems likely that there will be a new UE5 Train Simulator IP by DTG, there is little hope that the next game won’t fall victim to bugs not being fixed in a timely manner or at all, as such the only TSW DLC I’ve bought recently are loco DLCs.
So, for all we know, the upcoming extension could fix these bugs. Its highly likely why the route's been left as is.
Just to clarify: I’ve spent a lot of time significantly reducing the texture issues, and this should resolve all remaining cases of blurry textures. This fix will be included as part of the upcoming extension. I also plan to address all other known issues with the route and the Class 378, where possible and within the scope of what’s feasible for a free update. Unfortunately, due to how route extensions are structured, once development on the extension began, I was no longer able to release any interim fixes prior to its launch.
Thanks for this update, much appreciated. Can’t wait for the extension, particularly if it sorts blurry textures too
I think the key with blurring is sorting the complexity of Camden as that's where they always kick in. The interim solution is to disable the Kings Cross/St. Pancras/Euston layers (if you have them all) as it doesn't impact gameplay at all. But if Johannes has resolved that part of the route that is mighty impressive and hopefully provides some wider learning for DTG & 3rd party route builders
Very much appreciate the reply. My post wasn't intended as a dig at you so I apologise if it read that way, which I can see why it would. I think I'm thinking of routes as a whole where it seems they get 1-3 post release updates and then it's onto the next dlc without a thought for the prior ones with any bugs left remaining in place. Apologies again for using heated language.
