Credit where its due, Dovetail, Rivet. Looks like youve put your hearts and souls into this DLC. Very well done indeed!
It's fantastic. Played the route all last night and its a great piece of work. The details that have gone into it are superb. Well done to all who made it.
Yep. You know what? There were issues on launch yesterday but this route and stock are my favorite combo in the game to date. Love it!
Mentioned in the other thread(s), apart from the Rivet trademark over use of trees, what I’ve seen so far coming out of Plymouth towards Totnes is very good. Cucumber is not too bad to drive and I for one do appreciate the effort taken to give an enhanced sound mix in the end car/cab compared to reality. Obviously there are issues with some other aspects as logged elsewhere, such as Voyager brakes getting stuck on and (possible) omission of reverb on structures which DTG and Rivet need to get stuck in and sort out. However it was very zen climbing up Hemerdon then winding through the sinuous curves in the gathering twilight. This has the potential to become one of my favourite UK routes.
Only had time to do one run so far, but it was superb. Was really impressed with the scenery between Plymouth and Totnes - for all the focus on the Dawlish section, this section was really well done. Makes me wish West Cornwall had been done to this standard. On console so only got the bare bones layers until next week, but can’t wait to do a Western rail tour on it.
Indeed. The streams and previews have been unacceptable as far as stuttering. Also how does it run on the PS5? , The one stream by The British Ace on PS5pro had stuttering so the standard PS5 will probably be worse. We were promised further performance improvements with TSW6 but I do not see any evidence. If anything it has apparently worsened.
Just had a quick run from Paignton, I'd forgotten how awful routes are in vanilla mode, popping in trees, shadows etc. I'm going to wait until the route is compatible with god mode, so I can import settings that will make it look so much better. Meanwhile, I'll test my TS controllers work OK in TSW6, no reason why they shouldn't mind, except the new trains until the software is updated.
I've had very few issues, which is surprising since the other routes stutter quite a bit. I'm on an older PS5 too
PS5 Pro runs fine for me, of course we don’t have the layers until next week, so it may be different then. For now though it’s a solid 60FPS throughout. You get the odd stutter as per usual, but it’s certainly not any worse than previous.
Hey there, I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying the Riviera Line so far! I hope you continue enjoying the rest of the game and have a safe trip, everyone!
I'm on PC, and I'm enjoying TSW 6. I don't experience any stuttering, but it's true that I have a rather large PC. I understand console players, but I would advise them to switch to PC; they wouldn't have any problems. I'm waiting for a few mods, including the god mod, to get the best of both worlds. Bravo DTG (for once)
Just chiming in to say so far i absolutely love the route! Full credit to DTG and Rivet, the scenery is great, the announcements really add to the immersion, the trains are great and the route isn't just a simple a-b at full throttle. There's plenty of elevation changes and loads of speed variations to keep you on your toes. The only bug I've encountered so far is that setting and resetting DRA in the 802 completely stops the train and nothing seems to reset it. I know I've been a bit critical of Rivet and DTG for Fife circle and some other bugs but this route is easily one of, if not the best UK routes so thank you all!
Only played Riviera so far and this is obviously before all the layers appear next week, but it’s very smooth on Xbox Series X. Not had any performance or texture issues whatsoever.
Those ‘get a PC’ comments always make me laugh because they are so shortsighted. It’s not like the downfalls disappear, you can push shadows & lods out (at the expense of more stutter might I add) but then you just move the issue further ahead of you, so you still see the poor rendering happening. The only thing PC TSW has going for it over console is being able to add the enhancement mods, by & large the experience you get on a PS5 (minus the texture issue) is the same as you’ll get on a mid range GPU&CPU. The stuttering is generally the same (other than when you’re shader caching where it’s alot worse). The more hardware you throw at this game, the more diminishing the returns are just because of the way it’s been built & optimised.
Fantastic work on this route from everyone involved! Knocked it out of the park, one of the best core routes ever released in my opinion.
My home route, and wow, it's simply lovely. Hats off to all who helped create and shape it into the game! Here's my fav pic so far!
