So, there was an Update a couple of days ago, which rendered it nearly unusable. It is not normal for the AFB to apply full throttle to ,for an Example, 40 Kph. Then (meanwhile the speed is 43 kph) the Loco applies full Electric Brakes, ending at 33 kph. And so it starts all over again. Surely it is Practical in the Upper Speed Range (to be Fair It works fine in the Upper Speed range, as shown in the Screenshot), but (especially on Freight Services with the Engines BR 185.2 and BR 182) its just a Constant Accelerating - Decelerating (Even visible in the Debriefing). And to be Honest it is a little bit Annoying.
Had the same issue on the 146.2 on MSB. Turned the AFB off in the end, it was getting to be really annoying.
AFB uses the Power Handle or a separat Handle to set its maximum allowed power. You have to limit the power for smooth operation.
Can you please elaborate on this? You mean set the AFB to let's say 40 km/h and then manage the throttle? Or is there a separate handle that changes the behavior of AFB?
Yes exactly. In simple terms, the throttle lever is still being used to tell the AFB how aggressively to accelerate.
Just try it out. To accelerate up give it full power, but before you reach your set speed, go down to a few % more than needed to keep the speed and AFB will do the rest. On some locos that's done with the throttle lever on others with a special lever. On a downhill just set the power very low and supply some airbrake if needed and AFB will do the rest with the electric brake.
