So it’s finally happening, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be available on the PS5 on the 3rd or 8th of December depending of the version you pre-ordered.
This was only a matter of time considering how much Microsoft has shifted toward multi-platform support. This game maybe even more so than anything else I feel needs the bigger install base to justify continued development. Because as undeniably impressive of a game as it is (Well, Microsoft's inability to avoid launch rush woes aside) I really get the impression it's a pretty low return project for them, if not a flat out vanity project. Assuming they can launch it in a good state (And I've vaguely hear the game's in a good state now) hopefully this can make up lost time from last year's disaster of a launch.
The pricing for it is nuts. Makes me hopeful that elder scrolls 6 will get a ps release too when it finally surfaces
Will certainly keep an eye on it, when I played it on the series X there were a lot of things promised but not delivered & overall it wasn’t a great experience. From the looks of it there are still a lot of things wrong with it & the community doesn’t seem to impressed that time has been spent on another console port. I did eventually abandon the Xbox ecosystem though as it’s just gradually declined & anytime I was in the mood for console gameplay, it was seldom on the Xbox - overall I’m glad to see more & more exclusives being shared. The PS5 pro will be the most powerful console this is available on though, hopefully that gives it abit of boost in terms of fidelity & performance. Both of these struggled on the X. Another downside to MSFS though is need to pay through the nose if you want detailed landscapes & airports - if you have any interest in aircraft operations outside of simple operation too, it gets very expensive. That being said though, FH5 has already had a couple of deeper sales on PS, so I’ll probably pick it up once it’s got a decent discount going.
Whilst it may be good that FS24 is coming to PS5, the vanilla experience is not that good on consoles. There are lots of bugs and issues and the downside to consoles is that you are limited to what is offered through marketplace or the add-ons in the store. This is much like how TSW is restricted. The PC version of MSFS24 still has bugs but the 3rd party market is quite good for mods and add-ons (similar to TSC) and even includes the good folk from Just Flight who's sister company is Just Trains (and we all know they make good products for both TSW and TSC).
Daft thing is the PS5 is less powerful than my potato PC which is supposedly below spec to run this. So either the console version is being scaled down or they are over cautious on the PC. Either way it’s silly pricing and given the bugged state the 2020 version was left in by Asobo and MS in no rush to invest in either version. The main appeal of 24 being the career mode and using less HD space.
The best news I have had since I bought my PS5 and the PS VR2, it maybe scaled down in someways however Im so looking forward to playing it in VR, something which I never ever thought I was gonna see, my old PC died a few years ago, and the only game I played was MSFS 2020, so this is epic, Im sure it will work ok on the PS5 but I am guessing that full optimisation will be for the PS5 Pro considering it has more RAM etc.
I have fond memories of fsx classic on a crappy laptop but was so fun. I was terrible at the game but hopefully this one has tutorials specifically for setting up FMS etc. Will PMDG and ORBX products also come as add ons alongside aerosoft?
