Horn Linked To Bell Question

    for us railroad do all locomotives have the bell linked to horn? i think in Canada the locomotives bell is not linked to the horn.

    Yes, when the horn is sounded, the bell will also sound on US locomotives, as a safety meaure.

    I'm not sure, the CCR SD40 and F7 and Boston Sprinter F40 don't tie in the bell to the horn. Neither does the Rotem cab car from San Bernardino.

    It is a fairly recent rule change; it doesn't apply to older units. Really just a convenience for the driver anyway.

    Yeah true that.. I just wish I could deactivate it. I blow the horn at crossings and it's slightly aggravating having to turn the bell off every time lol
