52 miles end to end is a complete waste of time for my tastes personally.

Pendolino's, 350's and 805's are the last things i want to run in a train game.

For a first route, 52 miles is a great effort

You do see the irony in calling out someone’s poor manners, whilst commenting that someone’s work is a “complete waste of time” right?

It's true that it's a bit steep... would you prefer longer lines? And what other type of trains then?

I get the feeling from the multiple posts in multiple threads, normally when more modern train topics are spoken about, the the person in question to whom you replied to is just a permanent angry soul, and time has stood still for them from a certain year. And they refuse to except anything past whatever year they've trapped themselves in.......

despite how much I love br blue and older stuff, I’m actually kinda looking for to this since it seems to be like 5x better quality than DTG’s version of the west coast main line

A perfect resolution then is to not buy the route if it isn’t your cup of tea. Putting everyone on the ignore list is also perfectly acceptable if you don’t like the fact that others have differing opinions. I, however feel that respectful discourse is a great way to express one’s opinions and flesh out what you would find to be an acceptable route for your tastes… but hey each to their own approach to forums which I feel are designed to prompt discussions, not stifle them .

In that vein, what would you like to see in a route? For my tastes personally route length is secondary to having a route that is historically accurate with a variety of different services and accurate scenery.

I have no problem with people having different views, mine are different to most of the people on this forum.

What i will not put up with is people trying to tell me what to do. Or think their opinions are more important than mine.

My tastes are simple, routes at least 80 miles in length, set in the GWR (the real one) era or BR steam era preferably the WR.
BR Green and BR Blue era pre 1985. Nothing from the privatised era fiasco and nothing from preservation lines.

    Don't buy it then. Lol.

Seriously though, youre complaining on a thread that this route goes against what you like. So why comment bash on this specific thread? It has nothing for you.
Stop being self righteous and open your mind to the fact that this is a public forum, where many will have differing opinions to yours.
If youre truly unhappy with that concept, leave the forums full stop.

I may get this but have to agree not the most inspiring choice of era. Would have been great to rag 86's, 87's or the earlier 81's to 85's (which tended to work the secondary express trains north from Birmingham) and 304's, 310's and 312's on the local services.

I guess you’re probably older than some of us Vern? You may of grew up in that type of Era, where me 2001, grown up around 350’s 390’s Voyagers, 323’s 150s/153’s and 158s and 170s.
Plus we have got the stock for it. for a BR new street we don’t have that. Think people will love the Modernisation of this route. I

I think it's an excellent choice of route: has different types of service, and different types of train on those services. A lot to see on the route too.

As with most other modern routes, I'd really like to see something on freight other than the 66 though. Hopefully we see something soon.

Well guess you're not gonna buy anything for TSW ever again as JT do 1986 onwards and are the only pre-privatisation devs

No one is going to truly happy with a route, they always have their preferences.
BR era seems to be in full swing on this forum though and it’s clear people want to see more of it, myself included. I do prefer modern, but I have a soft spot for JT’s content.
I’ve said this before, but I really wish the NTP and Tee’s Valley routes would see some TOD4 treatment, some of the best BR routes in the game. It’s where I fell in love with the Class 101 :)

To be fair we’ve got plenty of WCML action going on for 80’s era as it is, especially the type of gameplay this offers. JT is doing more than fine with what they’re offering for exactly this sort of content & id argue it’s actually the one are that is being well catered for, in BR era. Theres also the SOS route which offers another historic way to play WCML.

Meanwhile any modern WCML action is either the one WCMLS route, or 20 odd miles of it out of Manchester (I’m pretty sure I’m missing another short stretch of it from another DLC?).

Everyone has their preferred era & there’s plenty of quality conversation to be had regarding that, it’s just ridiculous that some can’t seem to enter that preference into a discussion without being unnecessarily abrasive.

In any case though much like JT have attracted many through quality alone, regardless of the era they’re developing, I suspect All Aboard will do the same.

No worries. My missus calls me far worse if I offend her…

Yes I was a “basher” in the late 70’s and early to mid 80’s so that is the era I associate most with. In fact, my first trip from Birmingham to Stafford was doing a Midland Railrover ticket in 1976 on a Class 304 EMU.

Hi all, I have seen quite a few comments in regards to choosing the era we have chosen. To clear this up from my end at least. for us it is much easier to obtain resources and data for current era than it is to do anything in other era's. We always aim to make sure what we produce is as true to life as possible so it doesn't make sense to produce in an era we are unable to get the best source material possible. Plus you have the likes of JT that already do a fantastic job in producing for the BR era style of content and if that is what you'd prefer I would urge you to check out their content if you haven't already.

We currently have no plans to produce BR or Steam era content as again for us, its easier for us to get current day data, source and resources to produce the best products we possibly can. Finally I will say this, people are more than entitled to have their opinions and we encourage it especially if you are looking to purchase things we make. Just please make sure it is constructive :)

Any chance the next route could involve a class 91? (Wink wink, nudge nudge) its one of the most requested locos in the last few years. Just putting it out there :)

This route is probably my most anticipated TSW6 route so far. Love the 390 so a route that allows more of it will be a must buy to me. I do have a curiosity regarding the 2019 timetable though... this seems like it could be another place to use the 805 other than the fact that they obviously weren't around back then.

So everything is about peoples' taste. That shouldn't be a surprise. I had lunch with my Dad today, we support different football teams, have different political views and I find his casual racism distasteful (to put it mildly) but we have lots of other things in common so we avoid the subjects that can lead to disagreements and bad blood. I had a lovely time with him, he's not going to be around forever and he's my Dad.

In a similar vein, each member of this community has a different outlook on what a perfect DLC will be. One person's dream route will be another's yawn fest. So long as there's a bit to go around for the majority, it's fine.

I'll probably buy it, despite it not being my favourite era or area. While I can afford it, I will try to support new developers.
If the next couple of routes that are announced are the WCML again, I may have grounds to have a proper rant though.

I’m really looking forward to this, it’s the sort of route that really gets me excited about TSW.

Having spent a decent number of hours on the Riviera line, it’s one of my least favourite UK DLC. It has a real Rivet feel to it, the Voyager had no less than 6 engine stalls on an hour run and two door jamming episodes. I find it a little bit irritating so have switched it off.

Hopefully patches will be released thick and fast to sort the flickering loading of trees, trees through the cab, 220 emergency brake issue and floating person on the sea wall and ai passengers walking down steps by their knees after sinking into the scenery. You have to wonder how things like this are missed in testing and quality checking? If it is Rivet, quality isn’t their specialty! I have much higher hopes for this developer

Maybe it's due to the 805 being out first irl? I'm probably reading too much into this... But I wouldn't be surprised if DTG asked them if they'll do an 805 as there maybe a chance a Crewe to the North Wales coast is planned but using 221s with the 805 layering in?

The 807 would probably be used as a Liverpool to Crewe route as they are used for Liverpool to Euston routes?

It's possible. I would think there's conversations between DTG and independent developers all the time about what's coming next. Maybe there's more traction that will suit this route that's not been announced yet.

Maybe the 805 was initially intended to layer in on WCML south as they're a common sight now and adding new rolling stock to existing routes can boost sales of an old DLC. Though North Wales is another area that's not covered in TSW yet and I'm hopeful they are looking at these gaps now. My only thought though is it's a very similar type of route to this year's annual release.

Nah, I think All Aboard Studios have their head screwed on and have chosen a niche and era they know they can produce very well. I'm all for BR era content, but I think AAB studios have got this right... They are also serving us a platter with Class 390 and Class 220 getting a new route to stretch its legs. Second to that I'm very excited for the new updated variations of the Class 350, as the original was pretty shoddy.

Kezz and the rest of the team will show you all it was well worth the wait and also that they have chosen the right era.

They don’t, the completion rates across all platforms are abysmally low, like less than 1% in a lot of cases.

Indeed. One of the reasons I fire up SimRail occasionally to play the EU07 etc., where not only do you need to manage the tap changer but also the shunt regulator!

The Voyager and Cucumber on South Devon are nicely done, but it’s basically a case of putting them in Notch 4 and letting the control electronics do the work, until it’s time to throttle back.

    That's fine. We're all different.

I think those who like modern traction (and appear to be in the majority) get more releases, those who prefer 70s to 90s don't get so much. It's generally the traction you grow-up with that has a special place in your heart, the modern traction you love today will one day be old and you'll be one of the gang asking for old traction yourself!

I can't wait for this route. Hope we get a release date on the next roadmap. Its going to be a first day purchase for me. Get more use out of the 390s and 350s count me in. WCML is getting a lot of love in different eras.

I don't want to go too off subject but I agree with you some other mainlines need different era also. It's mostly third party. I can't wait to see the live stream for this route

Apologies I must've missed this but no the Class 807 is unfortunately not included, whilst still an IET and with Avanti, it has different specs and would require even more dev time to produce/get right :)

I'm honestly shocked it hasn't appeared yet. It seems like such an obvious fan favourite DLC to make that pretty much everyone would buy. A rare case of a loco both modern and classic fans would enjoy.

You know you can turn those off right? You can on Playstation at least.
