I gotta say. Watching that livestream yesterday made me happy while at the same time sitting and seeing the Arrow 3 passing by at Mountain Station while doing track work. Matt spawning it in Secaucus changing the voltage to 25k to 12k made me realize down the road they can implement it on NY Trenton as a layer. I’ll just use free roam and play it on the NEC. Overall awesome train details they made. I love it
That stream was exactly what I wanted. Love the attention to detail with signage and small details with power changeovers being included. Great job to everyone involved!
When I had to go to Gladstone Yard to get an equipment I need from the truck. Those Arrow 3’s parked on the siding looking fabulous. Those are my favorite trains growing up. But the other one that got crashed couple weeks ago or so is still there on the siding. It was very bad how it looked.
I have to confess that, after reviewing the stream, it also seemed to me that, when moving (especially when passing through junctions) the Arrow III has the same sounds as the CTC-5
From what I heard on the stream, convinced there were overtones of the German and UK electrics in there, which would be a shame if not 100% authentic.
Thanks Tony, I stand corrected. It was more expectation this would have more of a growling old electric traction sound, I guess.
Nah, they had their electrical equipment replaced with three-phase AC motors and GTO thytistors in the 90's, so the gubbins are identical to a 90's EMU
I watched the livestream with headphones and oh my, the sounds of this Arrow are so nice! Specially when driving above 60mph you can almost 'feel' the vibrations (really need headphone to hear those). It has this older metal tube kinda feel. But also when standing still and with braking it all sounds really good. The route itself also has me hooked. Lots of variation in track, scenery and stations. No long boring straights.. I never play US lines but this one is gonna be my first
Sounds supplied: - Motor sounds (first provided for the TSC Arrows) - Dynamic brake resistors - Horn - Air brakes - Main transformer fan spool-up - Cab signal system Motor sound original source:
Yes, you need to sit for about 5 min to allow the fans to shut off. Then when you start moving again, they spool back up and you hear the sound.
