So what was it about moving to a new version that add new bugs to older content?

Well it happened with one of the older routes in TSW.....

With a fresh TSW6 install from Steam with no mods or anything, the CSX SD40-2 is completely missing from the timetable screen. Kind of a jarring bug for a route that shouldn't even had much of an update moving from TSW5 to 6, yet here we are.......

(Note, the locos still spawn on the route, and are still selectable in free roam, but you cant choose any of their timetable services)

I think you may find the SD-40-2 services is the one shown as "SD40 CSX-s" in your screenshot.

That particular livery was only applied to that loco via the new journeys expansion

Nope, as you can see, if one uninstalls the SD40, there is still no SD40-2
    20250930224639_1.jpg

And if I reinstall the SD40, the SD40-2's don't appear under it, most likely because the SD40 ISN'T THE SAME as an SD40-2.

Im not sure how you 'uninstalled the SD40" as the only SD40 in the game is the one for Clinchfield. It looks like you uninstalled the SD40-2 Blue & Gray variant which is part of the New Journeys expansion.

I do agree there is an issue though, as SPG did come included with a SD40-2 (with the CSX YN3b & YN2 liveries). I installed it as well and only see the GP38-2 & AC4400CW

Thats an SD40 NOT AN SD40-2! You can tell its an SD40, because it uses the same font and run numbers of the CRR SD40....
    header.jpg

    From the store page....
The New Journeys Stealth CSX loco HAS ALWAYS been an SD40, NOT A SD40-2!!!!!

It was already a little glitchy in TSW5 where the SPG SD40-2 defaulted to the BNSF variant. upload_2025-10-1_10-42-35.png

As a note on the above disagreement:

I didn't mean to offend you...you obviously care deeply about these differences.
The point of this thread though is that the CSX SD40-2 is missing in TSW6's SPG....which I can confirm

IIRC, from what I saw on the TSC discord, the BNSF SD40-2 still works in TSW6 as well.

I don't think it's a matter of "offence" or "caring deeply", it's merely a matter of bug reports requiring specific language for clarity.

The SD40-2 is missing from SPG in TSW6. That's the fact of the matter, and anything that confuses variants, like suggesting a separate DLC loco is an SD40-2, will muddy that fact.

The New Journeys SD40 is not a variant reskin of the SD40-2. It's a different locomotive. Same as how the Clinchfield SD40 is different.

As an aside, I seem to recall earlier versions of TSW where the Clinchfield SD40 could sub in on SPG, was that removed because its lack of working banking comms broke westbound services on SPG?

I sent a ticket to support yesterday about that issue.
It's still selectable from the "Choose a Loco" screen though.

do you have cajon pass installed? since TSW5, cajon pass version of SD40-2 is replacing the sand patch grade version in the timetable selection menu

The TSW6 issue appears to be that there is NO available SD40-2 on SPG, of any kind.

Part of me wonders if they tried to roll out a fix for the TSW5 glitch and in doing so accidentally delisted the CSX SD40-2 from the timetable screen.

actually, i can confirm this (just tested it myself) dtg could come and explain the reason for this, just a bug like those that occur EVERY TIME a dlc is ported to a new tsw game version or a removal of standard SD40-2 services (there are only SD40 CSX-s variant services) without reason or explanation as happened with GP38-2 YN2 livery? :D

And this is why I never buy a new TSW version on launch. One thing I know for a fact I can always 100% rely on with DTG, is the bugs in any new release of TSW.

I only bought the deluxe edition because of the ALP-45DP, the class 802 and the class 220 (voyager) because if I were to buy them separately I would spend a lot more money

And I know I can buy the deluxe version with all of them 6 months from now for at least 30% less, and by then a bunch of the bugs will be patched. I don't pay a premium to be a beta tester of an unfinished product. If they want that, they can pay me for my time.

I discovered the issue with the SD40-2 not displaying in the SPG route. The problem lies in the unfinished SD40-2 TTC ("Training Center") product with this version of TSW 6. If you copy the TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor-TrainingCentre-coredata.pak file from TSW 5 and place it in TSW 6, as shown in the image.

    SD40-2 - SPG - 1.jpg

The SD40-2 in the SPG route works again, the problem isn't with the SPG route DLC. So, what a cool update, huh? That's what happens when released an unfinished product.

Remember, I did this just for testing to identify the problem, it is not advisable to use it like this.

I also confirm the missing SPG SD40-2 .

It's only selectable from the train depot if you want to drive it in timetable mode in SPG .

It's also strange that the problem is in the sand patch grade route only, while in the Boston Worcester route it is selectable in timetable mode.

    This needs fixing

If they're going to keep copying stuff, and not have a process for vetting if they stripped the copied versions of anything which might cause it to overwrite the original...

Okay but is the YN2 gp38-2 able to selected on the menu there? Or is it just the YN3B.

That Training Centre SD40-2 is also not even selectable from the train spawner menu. As usual, some testing would have been nice to see.

The problem still exists, there is or was a mod for this fix.

Yes, that's why I referred to unfinished content.

There is a way to spawn the SD40-2 TTC, where you have to form a formation with another TTC locomotive for the spawn to happen, just need to uncouple that locomotive and remove it, leaving only the SD40-2 TTC, but the correct thing is to have it individually there.

I can use the SD40-2 TTC variant by creating a "formation" with just it and then spawning this "formation" wherever I want

    I tested it myself

You managed to do this because you have some American DLC installed and related to the SD40-2. Without any DLC it's not possible, as it doesn't appear at spawn time, only the method I mentioned is possible.

Anyway, this is wrong, the SD40-2 TTC should be in the train selection menu and also in individual spawn without any DLC installed, someone new to the simulator can't test the SD40-2 TTC.

    temporary workaround

I discovered a way to access the SD40-2 services in the sand patch grade timetable, go to: to the trains > train depot > timetable > select the SD40-2 and then a menu will open with several SD40-2 variants from various US dlcs (in my case, as I have all the US dlcs, in yours you may only have a few depending on the US dlcs you have installed)

Yes, the SD40-2 on Sand Patch Grade only works with two of the other three US routes that have SD40-2s. Testing was conducted individually with each route.

It works with Cajon Pass or Cane Creek, but not with Sherman Hill. They also forgot to add the SD40-2 on Sherman Hill menu via this shortcut: To The Trains => Train Depot => Timetable.

There must be many of these shortcuts missing in every direction. If I were QC, I'd be kicked out for not releasing the content for publication, because I wouldn't allow it.

    Edited:
There's actually an SD40-2 in Sherman Hill using this shortcut (To The Trains => Train Depot => Timetable), I tested with only the Sherman Hill DLC installed.

The problem of hiding the SD40-2 when the Sand Patch Grade and Sherman Hill are installed together and alone, is due to the SD40-2 TTC on Training Center being the problem.
