Why in 2025 does TSW6 not let me transfer my profile from TSW5 to TSW6? Other games can do it. I now have to start at Level one again. I know I can get a profile from saved file but why should I?
That is literally how transferring a profile works in any game which supports it. It's just a matter of where the PC where the file is stored is located. On your own drive gives you control and security that an offsite option does not have.
So you're complaining because you have to open a save file? And you don't want to do it and thus start again at 0? I have transferred my profile from TSW 2 onwards without any problems... If you don't open your save file it's your own free will and not the game's problem.
So I launched TSW6 and it asked me if I wanted to transfer my profile, which I did... Did you not get that option on initial start-up?
Apparently because I'm using Steam OS the file structure is different on Linux to Windows. That's probably why it's not showing up. I did try to move my save file from TSW5 to TSW6 but it didnt work. I probably put it in wrong place.
That seems like a significant oversight if the game shows as Steam Deck verified. If not, it's a risk of using a non-officially supported OS. In that scenario, basically it's on the user to understand how the file structure differs and how to compensate for that.
The controls do work without any configuration. I can use the built in gamepad with no problems at all. Not sure why Steam hasn't given it verified status, to me it's as good as verified. Oh and btw I was able to copy my save file from TSW5 and put it it in TSW6 saved games file. I've now on level 70.
A game only gets "Verified" status when it has been specifically configured to "Work out of the box" on Steam Deck.
