just having a hard time picking between these 2 options because all of these dont have sale prices yet during this sale. Basically i am having a hard time picking between the class 86 for over shap, i want this because of the Mk2D/F (i forgot which one) and Mk1, having to work much better in modern railtour scenes thanks to the Mk2. and the recent GWR Rivera line and the Voyager pack (prefered to be bought together). Due to budget constraints and there is something else on steam I want also. I cant have all of them at once. So its either Class 86 pack with something else that is on sale, class 86 and GWR rivera line without the voyager. Or just the GWR Rivera and Voyager pack. What are your thoughts? What would you get first?
2 very different outcomes there really. The 86 pack only has gameplay on WCMLos, outside of FreeRoam etc. Even then it doesn’t add much gameplay as it’s mostly substitution of the Class 87 services. Riviera & the 86 may unlock some layers for the route depending on other owned content, but it won’t transform the route, as the layers are seasonal & very limited. They don’t utilise the loco either, just the coaches. Riviera & the 220 will give you the most gameplay, as you’re buying a whole route along with said routes busiest layer (the 220). Really it comes down to how much you want to spend & what gameplay you want. If I spent a lot of time playing WCMLos & wanted some specific variation in the rolling stock, I’d get the 86. If I wanted a new route I’d get Riviera.
DTG made stuff tends to be on better discounts faster than third party content. If budget is an issue, I'd wait on Riviera Line. The route is amazing, but if you can wait a year, I bet you can get it on a good discount. TSW5 Core routes are now 70% off a year after release. So I expect TSW6 core routes to have a similar discount in a year. Third party content however, especially those of high reputation such as Just Trains, tend to have smaller discounts. Question is if you can be patient enough to wait for better discounts...
what do yall think if i missed out on the voyager and instead just go for the riveria line for now? Would i be missing out on much on the rivera line?
Look hard enough, you can pick up TSW6 deluxe edition for £40. Genuine key site. Worldwide steam key. Cheaper than buying Riviera and the Voyager individually. Get the extra stuff in the deluxe for free, and get the 86 in a future sale.
Guess what. It went and look and it was £19… But then for some reason hours later I came to check the site again it went from £19 which enable me to get everything even under budget, to becoming £39.68. Which blasted the budget out of the water, why????????
I would guess that happened because of the way key sites work. I don't know which site you looked at but they are usually like a market where individual sellers can sell their keys (I guess kind of like Ebay) and so somebody probably went and bought the final one that was being sold for £19, so the next least expensive one is now £39.68. I'm not entirely certain, but that sounds to me like what happened.
If your priority is the Riviera line, the Voyager adds more than hourly playable and AI services in each direction, while the Mk2 coaches with the 86 adds a couple of railtours, which run once per day, seasonally, and will add a nuclear train layer when that Cargoline pack comes out - likely also daily and seasonal. The 86 pack looks fantastic, but personally I've prioritised other addons over it. I'll get it eventually. The Riviera line is superb by the way, and the Voyager is a big part of why - the timetable is excellent.
okay so update. I was able to get everything within budget thanks to YuPlay's TSW standard being cheaper than a solo route on the rivera line. With that i was able to get the class 220, class 86 and mk2 and something else that i have got on steam. Thanks everyone for your help!
I had no intention of getting TSW6 yet but at that price I snatched it up. I also wonder if it was a pricing error!
I was the same as you - CD Keys and Instant Gaming but I've tried YuPlay a few times and they've always been solid. They also don't charge transactional fees which IG does. A really handy website to compare CD Key prices is gg.deals - they also inform you of any additional prices that some of the grey markets bump on
