If I look on the Xbox store the game pass discount has disappeared for all add ons for Train Sim World 5. But it is still available for the editions of the game.
Nearly two days later and the addons discounts are still missing. I thought if a game was in Game Pass it had a permanent discount on DLC while the game was in the programme. So I thought it should still be there as Train Sim World 5 is still in the programme or have I got it wrong.
Yeah, I noticed that this morning. I wondered whether it's just a glitch, or possibly a sign that TSW5 is leaving Game Pass, or even something to do with the impending arrival of TSW6? Strange, I was thinking of picking up some DLC with Reward points, which is why I looked this a.m., but I'm reluctant to dive in at full price.
I don't think tsw5 is leaving GamePass any time soon. Taken from the Q+A page; Will Train Sim World 6 be available on Xbox Game Pass? No, there are no plans at this time to bring Train Sim World 6 to Xbox Game Pass in the near future. However, Train Sim World 5 will continue to be available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
Yeah - TSW5 doesn't appear on any of the 'leaving soon' lists so I thought it was unlikely, but we do occasionally see titles dropping off at short notice so not impossible I guess.
I was looking at this earlier and was also confused. Hopefully it does mean a sale but I wont hold my breath. Even if it is a sale its just going to be the same stuff anyway. If the discounts still aren't back up in a few days then I'll probably report this as a bug.
Part of me actually wonders if the person/people in charge of applying the Game Pass discount just sat there and thought "meh I only need to set them for 12 months because tsw6 will be out by then"
The 10% discounts should be updated with the TSW6 dlc versions then. I don’t know if this has already been answered or not, but is there any news about TSW6 coming to game pass this year?
Yes they have in the FAQ's it states. Will Train Sim World 6 be available on Xbox Game Pass? No, there are no plans at this time to bring Train Sim World 6 to Xbox Game Pass in the near future. However, Train Sim World 5 will continue to be available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Also no TSW6 content will not have a GP discount until it's on GP. But the 10% should still be active the for TSW5 compatible DLC
No, the discounts are for Game Pass subscribers - a standing 10% discount on DLC for games on Game Pass. According to DTG TSW5 isn’t imminently leaving Game Pass so all its DLC should still be 10% off for Game Pass subscribers.
Hello, Question: When I play TSW6 on my Xbox at home and TSW5 on Game Pass when I am out: Does my Level Progress increase on both games or do I have to synchronize somehow?
Interesting question. In the past I think your level transfers from the previous version when you upgrade but I don’t think it synchronises after that, i. e. you continue to build your level independently in each game. I assume it’ll work the same way for TSW5 -> TSW6.
The deals were set to expire on 16.09 since their inception - when the game came to game pass originally. My guess is that it's simply not "automatic" in the sense that all DLC is discounted automatically when the game is in game pass (I am sure of this, because there were DLCs without the discount, such as the gameplay pack bundle for core TSW5 routes). It was supposed to run until 16.09 because my guess is that the original plan to leave game pass was that date. Presumably plans shifted on the way, and the decision was made not to put TSW6 on Game Pass, but rather extend the TSW5 presence on the service, but discounts were not. Frankly, with DTG always taking the stance of "it's not us, it's Microsoft", as if they were not a registered developer that has an account representative at Xbox, I don't expect that they will return. It would take, you know, effort, maybe even writing an email. Oh look it's Friday already, chaps.
It would be good not to have it on game pass because we may finally get more sales more often if it’s a permanent thing
There is really no connection, though. There are good sales for things not on Game Pass, and there are poor sales for these games, too. Same goes for games on Game Pass. It's up to the publisher to determine the discount %. It's a bit more complex with TSW, because there are third parties involved, so TSG or JT content is not up to DTG to discount. In general I think it's beneficial for a niche game to be on Game Pass, because it greatly increases the audience. And with this game specifically, there are 120+ DLCs to reap revenue off players, even if they have a Game Pass subscription. Plus there are those like me, which buy the games anyway, because they are collectors and want all content regardless of a game being on the subscription service or not.
On the ps store, there are 10% discounts on standard, special edition and deluxe edition. The discount is until 3pm on 30/9
Are you are talking about preorder discounts for TSW6? This is different, and is on Xbox as well. The OP is asking about Game Pass discounts for DLCs for TSW5, which is in Game Pass. Games have usually all DLC discounted at 10% throughout their tenure on the service, as was the case with TSW5. However, come 16.09 the discounts were gone, though the game remained on the service. Which is a first, as far as I remember.
Looks like it isn't just tsw add ons that lost game pass discounts; https://www.purexbox.com/news/2025/...-pass-dlc-discounts-as-part-of-service-revamp
Sorry to go off topic, but what the heck is wrong with Microsoft, raising the price of Game Pass Ultimate to £22.99 from £14.99. Are they trying to kill the brand even more?
I heard the site where you cancel gamepass was actually crashing, because that many people were cancelling their subscriptions, so that sure has gone well for them!
Then they have a cheek to flood the store with ads for Game Pass… read the room guys. Cancelled my Game Pass out of principle last year when they shut down a load of studios. Always been an Xbox guy, but honestly Series X is the last one I ever buy.
I think it’s been trending for a couple of days now, but I read about it this morning on Twitter. Everyone is cancelling their subscriptions. 23x12 = £276 a year > Xbox 12 month ps plus premium > £130 12 month ps plus extra which is what I get > £100 quid a year. If you watch the updated changes to the service on Youtube, apparently this is what we wanted as customers. A more expensive subscription!
Mark Moreton bleajch If the backlash is anything to go by they may as well reverse it, well that would be the smartest thing to do. Very unlikely though. Microsoft have Donald Trump to thank for this.
Game Pass discounts for dlc for apparently all GP games have now ended as that is the new updated game pass so if we dont get any more sales for TSW content on Xbox then Xbox sales will be even worse now
Xbox has been struggling way before Trump, Phil Spencer I believe even said point blank at some point Microsoft seriously considered pulling out after the failure of the XBOne. (Which bare in mind, was all the way back in 13/14) And it's been inferred over the years that Game Pass was the double or nothing bet they took to stay in post-One, with the hopes they could become gaming's Netflix. Problem being that hasn't really worked out, they wanted 100 million users by 2030 even back when it launched in 2017, and currently they only have 35 million I believe, and I think most of those users came in the first and second years. They've always needed to reach those massive numbers to justify all the low cost of Game Pass, and they ain't anything close to that. Price increases are inevitable, unless Microsoft can figure out a strategy to get minimum 60 million new users over the next five years. which let's be honest, is a absurd figure. Even back then Xbox 360 only ever got to 80 million, doing your best plus 20 million on top has always made me think Game Pass wasn't gonna be around for long term in that form even back in 2017.
Debated if I should bring this up, at time of posting I actually typed most of this up a few hours ago but decided against it at the time, but changed my mind. But I do keep up with all sorts of gaming news and rumor mongering, even on systems I don't play on. And while you should take this with a grain of salt I think it's better that anyone on Xbox have the possibility in mind that this could be happening and nothing come of it. Rather than be caught completely off guard by it and shocked if this is happening. But do keep in mind this is just hearsay at the moment, this is not confirmed until Microsoft says something on it, so don't shoot me, I'm just a messager! There's currently chatter from multiple people of varying credibility that Microsoft might be having another layoff, and this one might include the gutting of the hardware division. Meaning the 10th gen machine they've talked up won't happen, and that Xbox Series machines would end production as well. (In fact since I've typed that there's now at least one person saying production may have already ended) Plan would be to refocus toward being a third party for Nintendo & PlayStation's machines with their profitable IP's. Again, this is rumor just, but if you have looked into sales data for Microsoft's system's frankly I don't think continued hardware makes much sense, so I'm siding toward this being true. Xbox has pretty consistently had pretty bad numbers compared to mainline PlayStation consoles or Nintendo handheld's. Lot of the IP's they've acquired have big player bases on other systems which are going to be hard to ignore. That's on top of my aforementioned comments of Game Pass clearly failing to meet their desired targets. Plus there's this rather odd thing going on where Xbox is no longer being sold in Costco that people have noted, which I did find weird when i read about it. Nonetheless I'm kind of surprised they ain't seeing the 10th gen machine to the finishing line given that they've mentioned it multiple times. But then thinking about it how well is that machine even going to do? When even the Series S can't be sold for less than $400 I'd dread to learn what a 10th gen "most powerful Xbox ever" would look like in terms of pricing. And it has to be said while I haven't seen much talk of it here, lots of other people have seriously been questioning Xbox's long term commitment for probably two years now in enthusiast circles. Again, just relaying what I'm seeing and hearing, and frankly while I don't own a Xbox I do hope this is all hogwash. I would seriously keep a eye on the news cycle for the next few weeks and months just in case. Frankly a lot of M$' moves have made me think their consoles have been borrowed time for ages, even made a vague reference to this thought in another thread to this thought a bit over a year ago. Really do hope I'm wrong, but again, i think if you're on Xbox better to know and have nothing come of it and get a chuckle from this post than something happen and get completely blindsided.
The amount of revenue they lost by putting everything on game pass is staggering. Looks like playstation may of won the 'console war'
PS users should also be pretty concerned about Xbox’s downfall reaching terminal velocity. Sony may have the stronger market share but they haven’t exactly been making great decisions lately. With the Xbox brand being weaker than ever, those decisions will likely only get poorer for users.
I would think the dangers of a product not having competition speak for themselves, especially on DTG’s forum.
I disagree. Xbox only came about to rival ps. Ps was doing great even before Xbox became a thing. I feel for Xbox users but ps will be around for a long long time
A posting on one of the gaming discount sites seems to suggest that we might be getting some discounted XBOX DLC in the sale this week. Never any guarantees, obviously, but I'll be keeping a close eye on this week's sale listing. Fingers crossed....
