eagerly awaiting the console guys complaining about yet another sale on steam and talking about how unfair it is blah blah blah and blaming dtg and valve instead of blaming sony and microsoft
Aren't consoles sold below actual 'price' and their hardware value/cost is sort of subsidized, and Sony/XBox need to recuperate their losses by DLC and subscription sales? Meaning the money GBP/USD/EUR 500 to buy a console won't even buy you a half decent PC video card. Might perhaps explain why there are fewer sales and those sales have only shallower discounts on the consoles? (https://www.purexbox.com/news/2025/...x-prices-compare-to-ps5-and-nintendo-switch-2) I still have my PS4 and a bunch of games, but at €152/y for a premium "Plus" subscription, I declined and now the PS is already obsolete. And given the proximity of Microsoft to most of the game studios, I'd rather buy an XBox nowadays.
That really depends on the particular console, Nintendo famously don't for the most part, they pretty consistently sold their systems for profit up till the 8th gen. And the under-performance of the 3DS and the outright bombing of the Wii U very much made them course correct for Switch. Though I'm not sure if the Switch 2 is in the same boat, I know rumor was Switch 2 cost about $400 to make, which would mean they should be, but that was pre-tariff woes. As far as others go I do believe Sony & Microsoft have done that, though usually only for mild decreases in prices. Usually the idea being that the console + one extra full priced game should be enough to turn a profit. There's exceptions, famously the PS3 was sold way under manufacture cost despite its high price, which came to bite them when they realized most people couldn't justify a $599 system in 2006. Honestly the massive amount of units produced for consoles is a much bigger reason for cost reductions than them "under-pricing" the systems. Bare in mind, it's not like any singular PC, and by extension its parts, necessarily gets 50 million of them made. So they probably don't need to be so strict on their sales, at least not for that reason. ...All I'll say is good thing you ain't a console guy, or you'd likely be making a big mistake right now. (Even ignoring certain rumor's going around Microsoft's probably got the best PC selection, and they're the only console maker that port their games to their competitors consistently)
75% off Ludwigsbahn seems about right, then later on pick up the E94 Railtour pack. Got a feeling I might enjoy the "Lud" more than Dresden to Leipzig.
I was wondering why it was so cheap in the sale just finished! It looks decent from the videos of it I've watched especially the more scenic section. I've not got round to buying it yet.
Seen any complaining yet? Why all this hate for console players. It's clear that PC outperforms consoles. But many (like myself) discovered TSW while searching for something new. These are not as common here in the US. So many have already invested in TSW on what they have. Perhaps if it were possible to transfer your profile to another platform, many would go to PC. Console might be inferior to PC, but it's good enough. Everything on sale here the consoles have already had deep discounts for.
