Get ready for more content in Train Sim World 6! We're hitting the ground running with Add-ons, starting with West Coast Main Line: Birmingham - Crewe.

    Train Sim World Add-ons
    Continue Your Journey
    [IMG]

If you’re new to Train Sim World 6, this may well be the first Add-on that you decide to add to your collection. Adding extra route and locomotive Add-ons gives you more routes to explore and more trains to operate. In some cases, they can also bring more services and gameplay to routes already in your collection.

You can see just some of our 100+ Add-ons on our website!

Or if you’re playing on Steam, you can view the entire Add-ons list from the Steam Store Page!.

For more information on downloading Add-ons for your chosen platform, head over to our FAQs.

    WCML: Birmingham - Crewe
    Developed by All Aboard Studios
    [IMG]

We revealed All Aboard Studios as a Partner Programme Developer in our April Roadmap!

“Headed up by Dan and Kieran, we are a team built on passion, expertise, and a drive to push railway simulation further than ever before. With years of experience in both game development and the railway industry, our expert team has been behind a variety of releases for Train Sim World and Train Simulator Classic, crafting detailed routes, rolling stock, and immersive environments that players have enjoyed for years. Now, we’re bringing that knowledge, skill, and ambition into our own Train Sim World releases, and we couldn’t be more excited to share what’s coming.”

Their first route, WCML Birmingham - Crewe, and loco Add-on, the Avanti West Coast Class 805, were then announced in Dovetail Direct Summer 2025's Take-A-Ticket segment and the August Roadmap.

We'll give more details on the Class 805 Add-on at a later date.

    The Route
Birmingham - Crewe, via The Black Country
    [IMG]

Another stretch of the West Coast Main Line brings with it both familiar and new locations to Train Sim World at heart of the urban West Midlands.

All Aboard Studio's first release for Train Sim World takes you straight into the modern main line action of the West Midlands and North West with a fast paced, electrified corridor packed with energy, contrast and realism.

The West Coast Main Line was built by many smaller companies during the birth of the railway era, but the central and oldest section of the route was the Grand Junction Railway. Perhaps one of the oldest long-distance railways in the World, the GJR was designed to link the famed Liverpool & Manchester to Birmingham. Their chosen route weaved out of Birmingham to Stafford via Wolverhampton, before heading up to Crewe.

In the following years since its opening in 1837, and with additions like the Stour Valley Line via Dudley, the line played a strategic role in the development of the industrial Black Country and saw a boom in traffic. With the eventual merge to create the LNWR, and later LMS, the route became a vital section of the WCML, Britain’s busiest main line.

This Add-on depecits the West Coast Main Line as it operates in the 21st Century, circa 2019. Your journey begins at Birmingham New Street, Britain’s busiest station outside London. Players of the Birmingham Cross-City route will be familiar with the cavernous nature of its platforms, brutalist signal box and regenerated facade.

New for Train Sim World 6 is the full implementation of Passenger and Platform Announcements - meaning Birmingham New Street will be in full voice listing off stations stops far and wide, for the various services that arrive and depart there. Passenger Ambience will also be heard depending on train loadings.

From the deep platforms beneath the city, just two electrified lines carry you north to pastures new, climbing out into the open air and into the heart of the Black Country, named for its industrial, coal mining past.

What follows is a powerful sequence of locations that define the region’s railway identity. As you pass through Smethwick, Oldbury, Dudley and Tipton the industrial heartbeat of the Black Country pulses around you. Chimneys, canals, factories and terrace rows frame the railway, telling a story of hard working communities and proud industrial heritage. It is gritty, atmospheric and unmistakably urban.

Then comes Wolverhampton. You rise above the city, sweeping across rooftops and past the iconic football ground before arriving at the high level platforms of this key interchange. Here, lines from Shrewsbury, Stafford, Bescot and Birmingham all converge, making Wolverhampton one of the most operationally significant points on the route.

North of Wolverhampton, the scene transforms. The city noise fades, and you enter the broad rural landscape of Staffordshire. The run into Stafford brings open track, steady gradients and clear skies. It is here you join the core of the West Coast Main Line. You will pass through Penkridge and into the modernised layout at Norton Bridge, where grade separated flyovers and bypass lines at Great Bridgeford allow for smooth, uninterrupted movement. Every detail has been built to reflect the current-day infrastructure.

Your final approach into Crewe is a railway experience in itself. Long known as a major hub in the national network, Crewe features wide sweeping platforms, complex track layouts and operational detail at every turn. It is a fitting end point for a route defined by pace, presence and purpose. Players of the Spirit of Steam Add-on will have experienced this station and the expansive yards circa 1958, whereas WCML: Birmingham - Crewe shows this location in its contemporary guise.

The route is filled with detail. From football stadiums at Wolverhampton and Crewe, to hand placed industrial and residential scenery in Soho, Oldbury and Stafford, this is a railway environment that feels lived in. Almost 100 bespoke bridges have been created (including the 'musical bridge' at Tipton), custom overhead line equipment installed throughout, and every station built using real references from the period.

WCML Birmingham to Crewe is more than just a railway line. It is a living network, shaped by the people, places and trains that use it every day.

    The Train
    Class 350 EMU
    [IMG]

The Class 350 Desiro is your main traction for the journey. These electric multiple units were introduced onto the national network in 2005 and into Train Sim World with the WCML: London - Milton Keynes route for Train Sim World 5.

In this Add-on, these familiar and trusted units appear in all three subclasses – 350/1, 350/2 and 350/3 – each delivered with in their own distinct livery, just as they would have been seen in 2019. From interior layouts to visual features and branding, every variation has been recreated.

Adding an extra layer of personality to the route is 350235, wearing its unique British Transport Police livery. You will see this eye catching unit throughout your drives, appearing across the timetable as it follows its real world diagram.

A selection of Train Faults are planned for the Class 350 to be implemented for this route Add-on in a post-release patch.

The Class 350 EMU is included in the WCML: Birmingham - Crewe route Add-on. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.

    Timetable and Service Layers
Class 220 Voyager, Class 390 Pendolino and many more!

There are 522 total playable services waiting in timetable mode (and some 2,000 in all, including AI). With a full weekday of operations represented, you will take on everything from first light commuter runs to mid-afternoon stoppers and evening express services. Whether running non stop from Wolverhampton to Crewe or stopping at every station from Birmingham northwards, every journey offers something different.

All Aboard Studios will be providing a full breakdown of the layers and service patterns in their own Dev Diary. But to give you a flavour, we've listed the Add-ons required to add more playable and AI services to the timetable.

The full list of Add-ons are:
    • CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager (from TSW6: Deluxe Edition)
    • Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino

Scenarios, Collectibles and Mastery Challenges will also be available, as per most Train Sim World route Add-ons.

Train Sim World 6: West Coast Main Line: Birmingham - Crewe will release soon for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for

    Preview Livestream
Join both the RFTV Team and guests from All Aboard Studios for the Preview of WCML: Birmingham - Crewe on Tuesday 14th October, over on YouTube and Twitch.

    Yet to upgrade to TSW6?
WCML: Birmingham - Crewe is an Add-on for Train Sim World 6. If you've not yet upgraded, you can still do so in a number of ways.

Deluxe Edition: including CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager
    [IMG]

Upgrading via Train Sim World 6: Deluxe Edition will not only give you access to three brand new routes: Riviera Line, Morristown Line and Leipzig-Dresden, but also the CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager, which layers into playable services for WCML: Birmingham Crewe.

Train Sim World 6: Special Edition also includes additional back catalogue routes, such as Cardiff City Network, which also layers into WCML: Birmingham - Crewe.

Free Starter Pack available until 11th November
    [IMG]

Alternatively, you can upgrade via the Train Sim World: Free Starter Pack, which is available to download to your collection permanentely until 11th November 2025.

Whilst this won't grant you any new routes or trains, it will allow you to then purchase WCML: Birmingham - Crewe when it releases.

two thoughts: the roadmap article clearly should have come yesterday and what's the point in making an "upcoming content" article without saying the release date? with all due respect, it makes no sense

Wow that looks so good! And what a details. It has the same quality as ATS (Manchester Commuter Airport) and that was a great route but this one is way longer. I'm hyped for sure.

All the 350s seem to be unbranded. No doubt modders will soon 'fix' that.

Really, really looking forward to this.

Also DTG take note, if you don’t have the license, just debrand. No need for your terrible play pretend liveries.

It's bizarre that we apparently don't have a release date yet, but it's apparently close enough that we're getting articles and previews for it.

It's a pity that the route via Stoke isn't included, that could have added a great deal more gameplay. Although obviously 50+ miles for a first time route is still very impressive so I shouldn't complain too much. The route looks fantastic, definitely a day one purchase for me.

I think whoever designed the map got a little hungry, because Smethwick is spelt with a k at the end, not a H

Day 1 can't wait, but I really hope they nailed the signalling (app control) with complex routes such as this - essential if playing hudless.

and based on the fact that the first dlc to be released for tsw6 doesn't have a set release date yet, I assume that the roadmap won't have anything major tomorrow

Im putting my tickets on Tuesday 21st of October* for release... or as late as Thursday 23rd October*. Not surprised with 2000 services overall that it wont be on Gen 8.

*I have no idea for the actual release.

It's there. I'm at least assuming that the 'passenger' refers to in-train, as they list two types of announcements. :)

All those layers look great. Will console players actually be able to benefit from them or will we be recommended to turn them off in order to avoid a slide show. This MUST be addressed before release, and a preview with all layers active shown on both consoles.

Otherwise if it doesn't perform well, it's being misleadingly sold.

Preview stream Tuesday 14th October. The placeholder picture for the stream on YT says "8pm UTC".

Is this the correct start time 8pm UTC -> 9pm BST -> 10pm CEST?
    or is it 6pm UTC -> 7pm BST -> 8pm CEST ?

I would want a confirmation because 8pm UTC seems late for what you guys usually do, and the YT stream seems to be configured for 8pm CEST, not UTC.

The placeholder for tomorrow's Roadmap stream has the same error. Either someone has confused 1800UTC with 8pm, or thinks BST is one hour behind UTC rather than ahead. ;)

Looks awesome. Based just on the scope and recent experience I am a bit nervous for even Gen 9 console but I will reserve that for release day.

I wish All Aboard the best of luck and will probably pick this up at some point. However…

    1. Far too soon after the release of TSW6 when most of us depleted our Steam Wallet for £58 to buy the Deluxe version. That plus the Steam sale means I already have plenty of new content to keep me occupied plus revisiting the back catalogue for a while. tl:dr,the timing sucks.

    2. Picking up on my second point above, TSW is now over saturated with content and I increasingly have to look at each new release (my own personal LAMPOIL if you like), to decide whether or not I absolutely need it in my collection.

    3. Then following on from 2., we come back to administration of the game. Yet another route but still only one save slot. Another route which would be great for chaining services, but the save game doesn’t support that either. So irritated ping here to the EP DTG Matt , for the love of all that’s good please get that sorted out. Alongside that we also need a more efficient means of managing content. I shouldn’t have to keep a 6 or 7Gb old unloved route hanging around for one train that layers into a more recent acquisition. We need a content management system that allows us to add and remove DLC without having to resort to ticking and unticking in Steam then manually deleting pak files and that will extrapolate the rolling stock for layering without keeping the bulk of the route data hanging around.

This is all stuff that should have been worked on once TSW was established as in for the long haul, not a five minute wonder and ongoing DLC would be the primary means of funding the game.

Can the Pendolino speed up to 140 mph? And why Rugby was left out?

Rugby would have added another 20+ miles to the route and the need to model both substantial infrastructure and urban scenery around Birmingham International, Coventry and Rugby itself.

But yes, the release of this route does make something like an extended Cross City to do a West Midlands network a bit awkward. Also how do you now add the remaining portions of the WCML to a coherent route. We are left with Milton Keynes to Stafford (maybe via Northampton too) and Rugby to Birmingham which need to be done to give us a driveable (on different routes and different eras) WCML from Euston to Carlisle.

One further observation and apologies if I missed the briefing somewhere. Are we now seeing another DLC price increase, this being put on sale for £30 for a route that comes with no new train assets? Fairly sure the policy was £25 for route only, £30 for route with one new train and £33 for route with enhanced or additional new rolling stock assets.

Add that to what appears to be a change in policy for offering a pre order discount (i.e. none) makes an even greater case just to wait for a sale.

Seriously OldVern? The quality of this route is absolutely amazing, the services everything! If we want more content from these guys they need to make the money for it! £30 for a route such as that is pure amazing. WE are lucky it ain't anymore expensive.
100s of playability within this route, 2 Depots Soho and Oxley, 1hr run with the Pendo and Soho. Depot movements, ECS Movements, junctions, scenery. A modern Crewe station. Wolverhampton and a revamped a New Street. Also need to pay the staff as they won't get full earnings on this DLC as some of it goes to Dovetail.
You and others who just moan about the price because of no new train coming with it need to wake up and look at the bigger picture.
Infact we have had new Sub Classes for the 350.

I doubt it. The only trains that are allowed to go that fast in the UK are the Eurostars and the Javelins on hs1, and they're only allowed due to using in cab signalling

Can get to 140 but UK signalling and infrastructure doesn't allow it to and go to a Max of 125MPH

Everyone must make their own determination on that of course. But in TSW we are rapidly approaching the level where prices of DLC are approaching those of buying a whole new game. They could at least revive the 10% pre order discount which seemed to vanish last year.

i think it has to have in Cab signalling, like the class 395, which goes to 140 MPH on HS 1

There is, of course, nothing physically stopping the driver seeing how far they can push the 390 assuming it hasn't been speed capped in Simugraph.
