Hello all, TG08 here, and today I am suggesting that the sounds from the Class 802 on Riviera Line be backported to previous Hitachi rolling stock in TSW, mainly the Class 801 on East Coast Main Line and more importantly, the dreaded Class 385 on ScotRail eXpress: Edinburgh-Glasgow. The Class 801 and Class 385 have the same traction motors as the Class 802, so it makes sense for it to be backported onto previous DLC. Traction system (for Classes 385, 801 and 802 (also Classes 800, 803, 805, 807, 810)): Hitachi IGBT Here's some comparisons between real-life and in game, along with the Class 802 from TSW6 for reference: Class 801; IRL: TSW: Class 385; IRL: TSW: Class 802; TSW: *Credit goes to the creators of the videos!* The difference is night and day between the Class 801 and Class 802 for example, despite both being AT300 series units. I'm probably not the only one in the community that wants this to happen, as it would be nice for all of the Hitachi rolling stock in game to have the accurate motor sounds like in the 802 (and also the upcoming 805 from All Aboard Studios). *(I am aware that PC players have sound mods from modders like ItsYa165, but I'm also being considerate of console players here in the fact that they don't have that luxury).* Put your thoughts below as ever, I've been TG08, enjoy the rest of your day and I'll see you later . It's goodbye from me.
Personally why bother the faulty 802 diesel start up hasn’t even been fixed yet so untill they actually address the fly in ointment with 802 there’s no point bothering
I'm sure that will get fixed, but it could still be feasible for it to work. It just needs DTG to get this problem fixed .
The Class 385 as a whole needs a massive overhaul. Sounds, I'm all the way with, given they all sound either inaccurate or are poorly recorded/ programmed. Take for example the extremely annoying motor loop sound at <5mph - which also plays on AI stock when stationary - I don't even any of this implementation is even accurate. As for everything else, well there could be a lot more interactivity with other cab dials, switches and controls. Another thing which is annoying is the programming itself, like the saloon lights which you have to manually turn on and also switch off whenever the key is taken out. I bought this route on sale, but my word, I regretted it within 10 mins. This along with all other content from Rivet is why I'm highly opposed to buying from them, including the upcoming Class 171 and 377/3, the cab of the latter not being changed whatsoever at all (Apart from a functioning GSM-R) despite me noticing plenty of inaccuracies.
I think it will be easier to add the sounds in the case of the Class 801, as it is sold as a DTG product (notwithstanding the fact that DTG have access to the sounds from the recording trip for Riviera) and also it would be easier to implement the same physics that the 802 has back into the 801 (minus the diesel engine physics). However, in the case of the 385, since it is sold as a Rivet product, DTG won't want to touch it as it isn't theirs. Even if DTG were willing to give Rivet access to the Riviera 802 sounds, we know how awful Rivet are when it comes to sound mixing/implementation re: the Fife Circle 170 and the 385, amongst others. So, unless DTG want to sort out the sounds on behalf of Rivet, then we will be stuck with the lanky physics/sounds that came with release.
Yes. I was simply trying to point out how awful a train sim product can be made. As for the 385 motor sounds, they are similar but not quite the same as the 80x series of trains. Will also point out I'm still waiting for all those bugs and inaccuracies to be addressed.
Yeah, I agree with your points on the simulation side of things too. They need addressed in the same manner as the sound side of things .
The Class 802 diesel sounds are still a bit tinny compared to the real thing. Stand next to one departing from Gloucester or Stroud and it is much louder and deeper. And what they pumped into the cab which, yes, I know we should be grateful for as technically the driving cars are unpowered trailers, is more shrill and tinnier still.
I have LNER 800's on my local line so I get what you mean. The driving ends should be quieter than the motor cars are as yes, they are trailer cars. If the sounds do get the appropriate tweaks, then I could see this happening . Plus, the diesel engine sound tweak would apply only to the 802, as the LNER 801 only has its emergency one engine.
