I’m sure we’ll hear more soon and they’ll no doubt do a live stream. I am looking forward to it but the length really is disappointing. Not much chance to stretch the 377’s legs.

Very pleased with this announcement, although I'm sure I'm not the only one who is very disappointed that the route doesn't extend to Ore. Everything looks visually stunning except the 377 itself. Seems like it's using the wrong texture for it's outer shell. It seems like it's matte instead of reflective plastic like it is in real life. This makes it look like TS1 quality since the old engine couldn't handle reflective surfaces, but Unreal Engine certainly can. The dot matrix that says Hewes looks awful as well.

Here are some pictures for reference (I don't own any of these pictures, just found them off the internet):

You can certainly see how the lack of reflections make it seem like these pictures were taken from TS1 instead of Unreal Engine.

In the minority of TSW players or in the minority of posters on here, forums can become a bit of an echo chamber sometimes? I have spent more time on the TVL than any of the others apart from NTP so short routes can be perfectly viable. I have yet to purchase the RRO although from what I have read most people seem happy with it and length isn't too much of an issue.

No, you can still get the job done, but I do love the panoramic view you get from the 52!

Agreed short routes can be done well. However, in this case, a massively blown opportunity where they could have included it all the way to Ore station but decided against it. That's why people are upset. Same principal applies to the LIRR where they could have given us another real Eastern terminal like Ronkonkoma or Huntington, RSN from Hagen to Iserlohn (only 1 more station and is a proper terminal). It's like doing a mile lap, but stopping short at the .75 mile line. That's why people complain about these routes.

Exactly. Iserlohn (That's two stations though), Stockton on TVL, Greenford or Henley Windsor & Eton Central on GWE, all cases where a miniscule amount of extra effort could have made the route so much more interesting. But no. DTG and extra effort... it's not happening. Just giving us what is called the Minimum Viable Product.

To be fair, on MSB they did do that with Aschaffenburg Port and the spur at Lohr, same with the spurs at Ennepetal on RRO and Garden City on the LIRR. Except we can't use them thanks to the lack of a suitable locomotive, still after up to a year post release.

How many stations are there on this route? I believe Matt said stated that the number of stations on a route was a major factor in the time needed to create a route rather than length per se.

Bit disappointed they couldn't bring themselves to just include the route all the way to Ore. Especially when all the trains out of Brighton that are heading to Eastbourne will say Ore as their final terminus...

I will pay the £25 purely because I'm desperate for another Modern British route other than GWE, I'm tired of German/Old British routes. However, still hope they could update it in the future with the extension as a show of good will...

Kinda sad most people feel that way though.

modern UK......at last.....only taken around what.....6/7/8/9/10 projects to reach ONE up-to-date uk content? I understand everyone has different taste, gutted about the legnth showing around 35mins to each end of the route, however its modern and should be a route to learn properly and drivable without the hud, i just hope they do make some longer routes or atleast a subway/underground route where it maybe short BUT london underground fits perfect with the 'walk around' and hop on and off type game.

Agreed. I was not going to buy because it's so damn short yet again, but then again.. in many other aspects this is the kind of content I've been feverishly waiting for so long. Then my inner conspiracy theorist chimes in saying, that's just what DTG speculates to capitalize on, and I put it off the wishlist again... like I already said elsewhere. Freakin' schizo!

I'll get that one later, I think. Spent not much time on non-GER routes ... well enjoyed GWE and NTP a bit, will look into TVL thanks to Class 31.

According to Steam, the new Coastal route is already in my library, but it doesn't show up in TSW 2020 and it isn't in my DLC list on Steam. What might be going on here? I live in the US Central time zone. While I'm at it, how about a link to the MANUAL????? Why aren't links to manuals provided on DLC sales pages anymore?

The East Coastway will unlock at 10 AM PST, which is noon in Central time. It shows in your DLC list because that's just the way Steam works - probably just to show proof of purchase. At noon, it should either queue up or automatically start downloading. The manual will also most likely appear on the store page at that time.

Is it in the DLC management list, like this:

It should start downloading in just over an hour's time.

Thanks, Digital Draftsman -- this is in the list you mentioned:
    upload_2019-12-12_11-2-55.png

However, nothing is downloading at this time (11:03 AM). I have a heck of a time finding anything on the Steam site since the latest "improvements".

    Manual link, anyone???

Yes, it should start downloading in about 40 minutes time.

At present there is no manual. When it does release this should be the link: https://store.steampowered.com/manual/1010139

Steam holds your PC to ransom if you’re not using an M2 SSD drive; a friend of mine recommended it. Are the Samsung Evo drives good for gaming?

    Hello folks!

I wonder what all of you think about the new DLC! I personally had a hard time with British signalling since I'm so used to German signalling. First impressions are as follows:
    1. Cab sound is a bit weird. Does anyone know if it's realistic?
    2. Sort-of boring vegetation. Again, does anyone know if it's realistic?
    3. I really like how the 377's physics and functionalities were made, it feels very realistic and also feels like an EMU, not a loco-pulled train.
    4. I like the existence of the branch to Seaford, it's nice to be able to choose the route
    5. I don't like that the British don't always announce speed drops with morpeth boards.
    6. I like the rail-tour, even though I don't like diesel trains.
    7. EDIT: I really don't like the low resolution textures.

Regarding the update, here are my first impressions:
    1. I really like the cab sway, it helps me judge how much brake force / acceleration force I've applied.
    2. In some trains the cab sway seems too exaggerated at high speeds, in particular the DoSto's are very wildly jumping around
2b. From riding in the DoSto's (yes also in the cab) myself I remember that they really do sway quite a lot, but they gently rock from side to side and occasionally gently jump up when crossing switches. But the Dosto's in Germany's fleet are in my opinion exemplary for calm rides without much sway.
    3. I don't like that we still don't have DoSto's on RRO. When are we getting them?

What do you think about the new DLC and the update?

    Cheers,
    Prof

Prof, this is brilliant, people finally get to experience Brighton, Eastbourne and all in between. Newhaven Marine was covered by Geoff & Vicki from all the stations.

Also Brighton and the 377 were a regular commute for me for many nights out in Brighton. The run from London Victoria and the sounds of the 377 are amazing.

Oh? Is it a problem on my end then? Since I don't see the DoSto cab car here under the choices for RRO?

Someone please confirm or decline whether the DoSto cab car is driveable on RRO.

    Cheers,
    Prof.
