    About
This network spans approximately 541.97 km (336.77 mi), featuring a maximum line speed of 140 km/h (86.99 mph). The network includes about 157 stations. (Yes, I know this is a record-breaking distance and is a pipe dream, and would be easier to break down into multiple routes.)

Services would be suburban, interurban, long-distance, empty stock movements, freight, wash trains, depot movements and work trains. There is also the opportunity for steam tours.

There are about 1142 suburban & interurban services per day in addition to the long-distance services. There are also several freight services per day. Some services would only last 27 minutes, with some of the freight services lasting several hours; there would be something for everyone.

Depending on your location in the network, it could be over an hour before you see another train, but if you're in the city, it could be measured in seconds.

The operators on this network would be Queensland Rail (primary), Aurizon (primary), Pacific National and Watco. In addition to this, this network is all in narrow gauge 1,067 mm or 3 ft 6 in

    Services
    upload_2025-10-19_14-58-25.png
Services run as frequently as 7.5 minutes on some suburban lines to every few hours on services such as Gympie. There are also several yards and sidings for freight services and several for staging of passenger trains. Not all services in this network are end-to-end; some will start at one end and end part way through the full line (mainly during peak hour). You could also include the seasonal Exhibition services, which operate as a loop service and for one day, also have a steam train operating.

Long-distance trains along the north coast line would be Spirit of Queensland, Spirit of the Outback, Bundaberg Tilt Train, and Rockhampton Tilt Train.

    Grey - Rockhampton Tilt Train
Orange - Spirit Of The Outback
    Blue - Spirit Of Queensland

The Westlander would run from Brisbane at Roma Street and stop at Corinda, Ipswich, Rosewood (interurban trains stop here), Laidley, Gatton, Helidon and Toowoomba (where the train is loco swapped)

    Areas of interest
The line going up the range to Toowoomba is considered to be very scenic and also contains a disused but maintained station that is known as Spring Bluff. Spring Bluff still contains its station building, Signal cabin, station master's House, Night Officer's House, Fettler's Quarters, Pavilion and trolley sheds.
This station is also used as a crew change, sometimes by Aurizon. If included would be a great spot to explore.

The Airport line is carried on a viaduct from where it leaves the north coast line. This viaduct is 8.5 km (5.3 mi) in length.

Merivale Bridge is the only inner-city rail crossing. It helped the Brisbane rail network from being a north network and a separate south network, to working as one larger combined network.

Roma Street is the main hub in SEQ for all passenger trains, including long-distance.

Suncorp Stadium, visible from the trackside, is the main rugby stadium for Queensland.

XXXX Brewery (XXXX is known as the Queensland beer) is visible from trackside and just up the road from Suncorp Stadium.

    Parallel running with freeways
    [IMG]

South Brisbane Station has historically been the terminus for all trains coming from south of the river.

Doomben and New Farm Racecourses have railway runs partly alongside one of the raceways, and the other is only a short walk from Doomben Station.

    Scenario ideas
    Game Day

    Type: Special Event Train
    Route: Kippa-Ring → Miltion
    Duration: 60 minutes
    Time: 18:15
    Weather: Clear

Briefing: It is State of Origin game night, one of the biggest sporting events in the country, it's QLD and NSW going head to head once again, and it's a sold-out event. It is your job to get some of the 52,500 fans to the stadium safely and without delay.

    Summer Storm

Type: Weather Disruption / Timed Suburban Service
    Route: Ferny Grove → Central
    Duration: 40 minutes
    Time: 17:05 (Evening peak)
Weather: Heavy thunderstorms with lightning, strong winds, and heavy rain

Briefing: It's been a hot day, and what does that mean in good old Brisbane? Storms and severe ones at that, Heavy rain, Hail and greatly reduced visibility are expected. Local flash flooding is possible. Maintain your service as safely and for as long as you can.

    Inferno
    Type: Off-peak service
    Route: Ipswich → Roma Street
    Duration: 50 minutes
    Weather: Extreme heat, 40°C

Briefing: It's summer in Australia, and there is also a heatwave. Predicted temperatures are around 40c (104°F). Keep an eye on your equipment and keep an eye on the track; in this heat any anything can fail. Try to keep to the timetable as well.

    Heavy Load
    Type: Ore Train
Route: Toowoomba → Port of Brisbane (Fisherman Island)
    Duration: several hours
    Weather: Fine

You are in control of a double header ore train going from Toowomba to the Port of Brisbane. This will be a tricky run. Maintain safe speeds down the steep descent from Toowoomba, and once you get to Rosewood, maintain your slot so as not to delay the passenger train. After getting to the Port, offload your cargo and prepare the locos for the return journey.

    Fewell well to our EMU's
    Type: The final revenue service
Route: Caboolture, Ferny Grove, Ipswich and Shorncliffe Lines (each split into its own part)
    Duration: varies depending on route
    Weather: Fine

It's been 45 years, 230 days since we first introduced our legendary EMUs, but it's finally time we retire these old girls. Take EMU59 around the network to allow the public to say goodbye to our first generation of electric train. expect a lot of customers.

Rollingstock (I do not expect every loco/ train here to come with the route, but a lot of them are very similar, which should help in making more, but I would also expect several of these as DLC)
