    But yes. Close enough ;)

Hit the uninstall button again last night the JT 86 was fun as was having a dabble on WcMLOS in general. Back to MSFS 2020 and Zusi with some TSC also. Will keep an eye on TSW but without random events or routing and no sign of anything remotely interesting DLC wise it's 300gb HD space I would rather use for other stuff.

I've just checked ... I havn't bought anything for TSW since then ... huh. Last route was Niddertalbahn and since then they havn't published anything of interest for me. So I guess, I'm out?

I've been a TSW player since the early days of TSW (before 2020 was added to the name), and for the first time I have opted not to enter the presale beta group and only upgrade to the free starter pack. For the first time I really felt the need to let my wallet speak about the direction TSW is going, with an increasing list of game breaking bugs that will probably never get fixed. I'm currently trying to install it, but I need more than 250 GB to install the free starter pack (I guess because all my DLC is installed immediately too?) and I don't have that space available at the moment as TSW5 is still installed and I refuse to remove it before verifying TSW6 installation and my player profile transfer were successful. I'm really considering to stop buying any new content unless DTG ups their game regarding releasing new content with game breaking bugs. It's a pity, as I've always enjoyed playing TSW over the last 7 years but I'm tired of the yearly hassle of "upgrading" by needing to redownload the full game with all its DLC. Please DTG, consider switching to a more user friendly way of upgrading your core on a yearly basis.

If you are on Steam, before even trying installing TSW6, go to its properties in the library and deselect all of the DLCs to install (or leave only those you want installed). With only 1 or 2 DLCs selected it should not require more than 20 GB of space. I don't know if there are similar options of deselecting DLCs before installation on Epic, Microsoft or consoles. The core alone without any of DLCs selected for installation requires only 6.34 GB (on PC Steam).

Was going to say. Unless ATS fudge it up, the Class 90 actually one of the better things to look forward to in TSW and doesn’t really deserve to be in our whinge thread! :)

Oh yeah, that I'll agree on, that might be the first thing revealed I've actually had a real interest in this round. The foreign routes I unfortunately have to remain skeptical on until we actually get them in our hands. Both because the companies are unproven, and because we have no bloody release timing for them. This though? While I didn't buy their route I at least understand it's solid, plus I'm more certain this will make the release cycle than any of the routes.

Of the three, the Czech route seems the mostly likely candidate.

However the lack of branding raises at least a yellow flag, could run into issues when DTG peer review it and check for licensing etc. (though you would think they had done that already) and it turns out the whole thing is a bit informal.

Again, I really don’t think they should be announcing or putting these things on the Roadmap until the end product is pretty much assured. That means DTG themselves actually having played the route or seen verified working video footage, not just a few static screenshots. Or even worse, as happened with the Class 104 DMU, a screen dump from a 3D modelling programme - “Ooo ooo ooo, that looks nice, get it on the Roadmap.”

some roadmap sections only leads to people wanting routes and then having to wait for years to it arrive
example the Japanese route Tadami Line
hopefully it arrives this year but i doubt it

Thing is there's a good balance between what DTG does, which is reveal something with practically no lead time. And what's being criticized about Simtrack, which is that they announced something clearly in early development only for it to never reach a releasable state. JT's probably a model counter-example in this regard, we know their content a couple months out, but they actually provide updates with plenty of images and even video on it. And importantly they do seem to make sure they wait until they have the content in a playable state before announcement. That should be the model that everyone follows, even lot of big game companies could learn that. (See Microsoft & Perfect Dark for example of a similar Simtrack type situation)

Well, it's currently the only reason I watch roadmap streams. If nothing new from Tadami is listed in the roadmap article, I simply skip watching the steam.

I mean it *looks* like its only in a single livery and presumably just the freight variant so maybe deserving a little whinge. If only we could have the value of old AP addons where you pretty much got everything in a single pack. (MK3As and a DVT pretty please).

I always find it an oddity when a 500ml bottle of beer actually fills a pint glass...

Anyhow back to our regular scheduled entertainment. Looks like DTG have lived up to expectations with the TSW6 content patch and reports coming in it actually broke things even more. Focus need to be giving them more than an improvement plan, a rocket under the behind seems more appropriate at this point.

Well, it might be a save game thing, but I've been playing with train faults, etc., set to normal frequency (oh yes, I did buy it after all, having found the deluxe version heavily discounted) and found the events to be infrequent. Installed the patch today, loaded up my save game part way through a journey on the Riviera line and then had diesel engine failure every few seconds, getting worse closer to the last station.

I'll need to try again on a fresh run, not from a save.

I just had a similar experience with the 294. So pulled the shutters down on TSW6 for now, got some catching up to do in Snowrunner and Farm Sim 25 anyway. Maybe they'll get it sorted by sometime next week, or better still roll the patch back.

Then they have the brass b@lls to post marketing threads trying to persuade us to buy yet more £30 when they can't even fix the existing stuff without making a hapless mess of it.

So I've just gone back to journey mode on Riviera, not resuming from save. The moment I started moving away from the first station, I had the diesel engine failure again.

I'll try a different route now, but so far it looks like this patch has completely bodged the new feature that for me was working well before.

It's too big to lock. Locking this thread would have a massive impact on the TSW forums.

This thread is a major hub for anything to complain about in the game, which the customer has every right to do so.

There's a vicious cycle with this game, not a simulator. Players get excited for future releases, release a broken DLC, say they'll fix it, release another DLC, and so on, until the next version's annual release. Core improvements are mentioned on the roadmaps, but it seems to get worse.

I was expecting more announcements; I don't even care about random events. When it comes to the core, the best updates were the Map and I think that's it, not even greater Layer control to disable some trains on certain routes.

Has anyone noticed that the Pendolino, even on southbound services, has the first-class pantograph raised?

I still can't get over the fact that we had to wait a year for NEC New York Trenton to be ok.

I wish they'd focus more on quality than quantity, fix old bugs, and release new DLCs in good condition. Because, as things stand, no matter how much DLC is requested, the hype becomes a concern. NY - Trenton, WCML South, Frankfurt - Whatever.

Well, people still buying, so why stop? I think we have a two fold problem with TSW atm. The core has fundamental problems. We as the customers expect fixing at least with a new major release but they just bolt new "features" onto it and not adress the problems. Secondly they release a lot of DLCs. And there is a lot of light but equally a lot of darkness. And what I don't get it the push of wrong builds. If this happens so often as in the last 12 month, someone at DTG is not learning from mistakes.

Well the release of Birmingham to Crewe (if you disregard the incompetent flunkey who pushed the wrong build to consoles) sums up everything that is wrong with DTG and TSW at present. We have a very keen third party who do look to have built a solid route apart from a few object issues, but would appear struggled with how to make it work. When AABS presented the route to DTG with the incomplete timetable data, glaring errors in the running time predictions there should have been a polite but firm, “No, this is not up to the required standard for a £30 DLC, go back and fix it and we’ll find you a new release slot in xx weeks time.” A bit of in depth testing at DTG would also possibly have spotted the AI SPAD’s which appear to be ruining some runs. We know from SoS it took the EP working in his spare time a year to identify and resolve the cause. Again it’s no small problem if a number of runs, particularly in Journey, can’t be completed for that reason.

So instead of running around like excited kindergarteners at the sight of a new route and donning the silly pink headphones, DTG should be taking a much more professional and cautious role when it comes to the oversight and signing off on third party content. Then again, we have seen them rubber stamp everything Rivet do and the utter garbage that was the Athena Railtour pack so either they just see the £££ signs, publish and be damned or they really haven’t got a clue on quality control.
