Pretty much what the title says really; On one of the TSW6 preview streams, Matt said the game would talk you through fixing faults. Release happened and yet it didn't. Someone made a thread in the Troubleshooting and Issues section, and DTG staff came in and said it wasn't supposed to. In the update last week (that seemed to break more than it fixed), they claimed to have fixed the disapearing sea at Dawlish Warren. It still disapears. Supposedly Birmingham to Crewe was tested on console and no issues were found. Yeah...
Z-fighting (on xbox) was supposed to be fixed on tsw 5 content, and all content going forward. Not only has the tsw 5 content not been fixed, new content is still being released with the same problem.
Why? Because they can I guess and because they keep getting away with it. End of the day, we all complain and then a few days/weeks later, buy another DLC!! If the sales stopped, then there would have to be a change. But I don't see that happening right now.
Because DTG could release a steaming pile of elephant manure with a photograph of a popular locomotive on top, and everybody would throw money at them. Minumim effort = maximum profit, so why do more work than you have to?
Johnny, Johnny... Yes, papa? (In case anyone is unaware, this is a reference to a popular English nursery rhyme where a father confronts his son about eating copious amounts of sugar straight from the tin and then lying about it. Not sure if any other language has a similar song.)
Still waiting for them to fix the lighting at Birmingham were the chairs are blue thats been like it since day one of the DLC
Yesterday Man I hate how much they lie, still should have been fixed already just like the masterly reward not showing the bomber plane in game despite showing it in the preview in masterly
So have the faults even been fixed? I remember they put that patch out to steam players and said they would push it out other platforms, but wasn’t that like 2-3 weeks ago? I had to turn faults off because they were so broken..
To be frank I think accusing a company, the same company that own and runs the forum, of lying is disgusting. Many of the “bugs” mentioned here are either so minor only a few people even notice them, let alone care, or have been fixed. Either way, even if they haven’t it doesn’t make DTG liars. Honestly, I don’t know why DTG continues to allow their staff to be abused in this way.
I also vividly remember them promising sound improvements to the ICE-T for the TSW6 launch during the Dovetail Direct, then... yeah...
I take it you're new here, or have only been playing the game a month or two then? If not you either have rose tinted glasses on. Or your head is 2 feet down in the sand.
Honestly I forgot about that. So many things get announced and never happen. At this point I expect with every TSW that half of the things announced either get canned or saved for the next game so they have another reason to make a “new” game.
Ha Ha Ha the jokes on you. DTG only cares about the money and only money. Yeah yeah TSW look nice and clean yeah yeah graphic look out of this world. But there always tricks under it sleeve. You fall for the okey dok all the time. You might is well go back to the old Atari days you’ll be ok.
Minor? Half of the bugs mentioned recently affect a good portion of the community like the sea disappearing on Rivera line, the newest release was pure buggy messs and this company also just refuses to deal with bugs from tsw 2 that still plague the game. at the moment most of them have been lying recently to try to save face instead of just being up front and honest so at the moment they don’t deserve praise so far the only good I’ve seen is just trains, TSG and Mr Liam
You must be new to the game and forums. Stick around a few years, spend/invest a whole load of your hard earned cash on this game and see if your opinion changes. Many of the bugs mentioned are minor only a few people notice them… that make me chuckle. Go tell that to the Xbox players who suffer the full brunt of this game’s disappointing traits (Bugs). That’s not to say PS5 and PC don’t suffer with the odd mishap here and there too. Do you think DTG releasing a broken build for the new Birmingham route is acceptable on the PS5? Or should I as a customer turn a blind eye, buy it and continue to play it whilst being mildly frustrated because of the random crashes, poorly implemented timetables which in turn affects train movements and causes trains to get stuck at red signals… Does that sound like a fun experience?
Train sim classic plays better then this TSW 1,2,3,4,5,6 and its more of a sim Dovetail will bring out sweeping the stations next and call that immersion
TSW was and still is listed as an Xbox One X enhanced game with 4K UHD and HDR. I don’t believe this ever happened https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/xbox-one/xbox-one-x-enhanced-list#tabletitle
I wouldn't count blurry textures so bad it makes the game borderline unplayable as a minor bug. And hardly only a few people have noticed, it's all the forum has been talking about for two days.
What's kinda sad/weird...Is that I don't think it is malice from DTG to purposely screw their players (like some other companies like to do). When you listen to people like Matt, it is obvious they care about the product, and delivering a good experience... But wanting to do something doesn't make it magically happen... you need to work towards that, and the work needs to have some structure in place. And from the outside, DTG looks to be that kind of company that doesn't have time to fix their core management issues, becasue they are always extingushing not fires, but infernos, caused by those issues... Like how can you not only push the wrong build, but also miscommunicate what should be the correct build number... Everything looks to be done in state of total chaos, lack of time, yolo approach... which sometimes works, but boy does it often fail hard... Promises are forgotten, features are not iterated on and improved, bugfixing is obviously not part of capacity estimates,... and even minor fixes take forever.... And things are just pilling up... Matt stating 3 weeks before release that one of the major feature is not yet ready for presentation tells me honestly all I need to know about the state of projects in DTG...
Lies is perhaps a strong word but the administration of this game certainly seems to rely on copious doses of snake oil. The one I’ll throw in the ring is the oft repeated mantra of “Passed to Engineering”, the most notable example being more save game slots and tidying up the other aberrations of the saved game (not working on chained runs). That went from the hopeful feeling that something was finally being done to crushing disappointment when the EP announced the other week, not seen as a priority or words to that effect. No the biggest issue with the DTG TSW team seems to be their blinkered optimism that everything is okay and the wall of silence or even denial when things go wrong. Maybe throw in a dash of arrogance too, one or two people seem to think they know what’s best for the game (like the LOVEy) adaptive eye or refusing to do any more with steam traction.
Instead of them making a new game every year its best they get the current one up to standard numerous bugs just get left and not addressed its not acceptable
Have you actually looked at the feedback yet and read all the feedback on the new DLC, for example? If not, I would advise you to do so. Right here, in fact. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/birmingham-crewe-feedback-thread.94801/
Some of the comments in recent days aimed at the developers have been getting close to personal. The same people then moan the developers don't frequent the forum. I think Matt has publicly stated that he doesn't visit the forums often if at all. Then forum members with a slightly more positive attitude get attacked for having an alternative view point.
There is nothing positive about TSW over the last 12 months, its been going downhill fast. Some of you need to toughen up a bit, some of the responses to some mild criticism, and believe me its mild, have some of you reaching for the report button or being offended. People are unhappy because they keep ignoring the community and have done continuously. No one asked for yearly releases, no one asked for Thomas the Tank Engine or Metro Rivals. What people have asked for is transparency and a bit of hard work to fix the game and dlcs that are plagued by issues that render the game poor. I think people need to stop buying it though and I think we are on that road. Im seeing more and more people mention this compared to 12 months back or even 24 months back. Eventually the trust will go and people will stop buying altogether. I myself have cut right back now, because its simply not good enough. The bottom line is DTG dont care and it shows in every action they produce.
Because they keep getting away with it. How they can sell TSW6 as a "new game" is beyond me, it's full of the same problems from 3 iterations ago. It least there is a free version so you can see it without the snake oil glaze.
I'm not offended and have never reported anyone. Some developers don't feel a desire to participate on here. TSW has had a bumpy ride but there are many things I enjoy about it and I'm clearly not the only one. It seems the angry noise seems to drown everything else out. However DTG clearly need to sort out the issue with consoles quickly.
People only complain because they feel the same way as you do, they love the game, otherwise why bother?
A bumpy ride. In an Austin Allegro with no brakes and a box of dynamite on the back seat, over the edge of a large cliff in Dover.
I am not convinced that calling people liars is the right approach. It will more likely to cause push back, that is human nature. I haven't bought the new route yet until the timetable issues are fixed. If I was on console I would be very upset about the state of the game and would be letting DTG know firmly but politely and my wallet would remain closed until it was fixed. A constructive thread letting DTG know that their decision making is going to affect buying habits in my view is the way to go and actually keeping your wallet closed, it's amazing how many who have the route and are now getting annoyed are those who have gone through the same cycle previously. Calling developers liars and piling in on them is personally not the way I'd approach it but it's not my forum but I don't think the approach works.
Maybe. But lets be honest, the needle isnt moving is it? We've been here before and the frustration has built to a crescendo.
Agreed and I feel sorry for AAS as it is their first release and clearly a lot of work has gone into the route. I admit I am a glass half full person and there is still a lot I enjoy despite the annoyances. I do think DTG should try and be more careful about avoiding releases like this. Sending the wrong build out does seem shoddy.
It’s not just the wrong build on consoles though. It’s sending a route out that has obvious optimisation issues. Quite possibly as a result of major problems with the main train on the route (Class 350). It’s sending a route out that has a poorly put together timetable. It’s sending a route out that is terminating player runs due to remote AI SPAD’s. Those issues affect all users including PC. At this point I don’t care how much of that is down to AAS not having the necessary skills to finish the route off, wanting a quick release to get one over on their arch rivals ATS, or DTG with their acceptance/QA procedures. Remember, this is not freeware or a £10 map we are talking about - these DLC’s are selling not far short of the price of many new games. And that’s just the mess surrounding AAS, there’s the huge history and backlog of unresolved bugs and promises never kept to draw on. Don’t misunderstand me, TSW as a game can be very enjoyable and I fire it up more than any other train sim. It’s obviously making DTG money or they would have concluded it otherwise. But the whole thing seems to be getting away from their management processes, not naming individuals here but they need to get a much tighter grip on processes, bring in people who know what they are doing as regards coding and QA processes etc. etc.
To me there was a bit of hostage to fortune with stating confidently at Dovetail Direct this route would be the first to release after the TSW6 core routes. It might have been better to keep it in the 0-3 months part of the new roadmap initially and only confirm a release closer to the time once a more satisfactory internal QA had been done. All Aboard have said they have only just got their own internal testing in place and had been relying on DTG to do it all, which was clearly not enough probably because they are busy on their own routes. If it needed more time while another project became more ready by November then it would be less embarrassing to switch round releases. There was plenty in the 0-3 months basket at the last roadmap and you could always extend the free starter pack offer a bit longer if need be, just as they did for TSW5.
I agree largely, it isn't as if new DLC is urgently needed a few weeks after the new version had launched. I don't know how these things work regarding release dates and how set in stone they need to be and frankly it seems that it would have been better to have waited for another month or so.
This route clearly should’ve been delayed until November. It obviously needed more time in the oven. I don’t agree with attacking the third party devs as this isn’t their fault, it’s DTG who were responsible for the testing at the time, they should be held accountable. I love this game and I want to support it, but how can I when routes like Brummy to Crewe get released this broken.
If a lie is a lie, then it's a lie and no amount of gaslighting or smoke and mirrors will change that fact.
TSW should be renamed ‘Great Expectations’. You get what you pay for. TSW has evolved into several games in one (1) Train Driving (2) Passenger/ Guard mode (3) Treasure Hunt and Station simulation eg walking. In addition to this it compounds several different computer platforms. It is trying to be everything to everyone. To achieve this level of detail and have exacting quality is not a simple task. With the demand for more DLC turnover and having compressed timelines it is no wonder there is an experience of details being missed. I personally do not expect TSW perfection due to the complex offering and the current financial model being used. It is what it is! It is entertainment. If I am looking for a smooth ride and well built rolling stock I will use TSC.
Very close eye being kept here on the forthcoming GNOS line. Pondering whether the Cravens DMU will be a new model with new sounds, or just a reissue of the old IHH(?) one from Weardale.
Sonce the discord channel started, this forum has been neglected and becoming more and more toxic. its almost like DTG want an excuse to shut down these forums and the remaining community on the forums are giving them that excuse. I’ll fully agree that the current state of TSW on consoles is well below the standards we expect and deserve, but that doesn’t give people the right to use some of the rhetoric that is in evidence.
I don't use discord and have no desire too at present. You might be right maybe that is their intention.
It feels like, way too much of the work lately is being approached using the "fire and forget" method.
Because DTG has made numerous promises over the last 5 years that they still haven't fulfilled. Such as this... And this.
