This is an out-reach post to hopefully find some skilled creators with the Class 801. How would I go about painting the doors a block colour without painting the exterior that overlaps with the closed door. The best ive managed is to get the door looking good with clean edges, but when opening the door the base coat is still showing on the rounded edges because its a rectangle door with a curved door frame.

    Any ideas please?

when doors are inside the body, make use of angle of projection setting, since I started doing this, all the doors look much better, it allows you to paint the door without painting those angled parts surrounding them

Like this you mean, IMG_8325.jpeg IMG_8401.jpeg Basically it takes a lot of messing around because nearly each door per side needs to be set or adjusted as you copy from unit to unit.
The projection slider is no longer accurate as it use to be so again it takes a lot of fiddling with both sliders in the projector menu.

So where to start. Well I’d start with the white and mirror to the other side.
Then the inner grey has to be set so it doesn’t touch the outer panels. (I’ll get back to you with settings).
For the red means with the side panel being at a slant will mean if working side on to the face of the panel then each decal needs to be set as you work top to bottom.
This is so the red don’t touch the inner lip of the door.

To save decals then each decal used can be done so to cover each door surround again as you set and work down.
There is a risk to this tho as each door might slight be out which means a decal might set to one door surround but not the other.
So you’d have to back to setting each door.

It can start getting harder when using strips or shapes which will introduce more complexity to layering and setting.
So if new I’d suggest having a play around first and then attempt creating a livery. Again if new by doing it this way can help remove any pressure or feelings frustration. Understand the shape of the model and how certain layers fit that model because you might have to work from a different area to reach another if that makes sense.

Anyway gotta dash but I hope the information helps:)

    ✌.
