I have looked through my list of reports that have been made up to almost a year ago, and a lot of the things responded to have still not been patched, even if most of them appear quite easy to do so, because I am sure the developers to know how to do things well. There are a lot more issues I've seen mentioned by quite a bunch of people across multiple platforms, whether that's here, Discord, YouTube or whereever else. Floating trees on a few routes. Services not starting correctly. AI-driven services passing danger aspects which ends your session. Main menu routes and/or trains having the "NEW" lable despite being used numerous of times. And whatever else there is. I quote Jan, community manager at DTG: "Game-breaking issues are always a priority, so anything that causes crashes or performance issues. Same goes with anything preventing players from accessing owned content. Audio issues like the ones you describe, honestly speaking, while immersion-breaking or unpleasant, will be lower in the list. That doesn't necessarily mean those issues are never going to get addressed, but focus will always be on the most serious issues." (source: "The Dovetail Discord", message hyperlink) Despite being much lower in the list, some issues have been known for months, others for years, and have not been patched because actual game-breaking things and development on future DLCs have a priority lane, as it appears. I am asking: Is it not possible to patch these many small but annoying and sometimes restricting issues to get them out of the way for once and for all? This would make the community complain less, since things are patched, and it makes the game much more appealing, even for future customers. Less bugs and issues would be constantly mentioned that makes folks not want to use the game anymore, or purchase future content. I by no means know how a business works, and how DTGs internal situation regarding finances, profit, development and communication runs, but I personally believe that this can be done much better with more sides of the whole structure (both community and company) being happier when it comes to this game.
When DTG reaches the sale objective of a DLC, there is no incentive anymore to fix any problems with the DLC. Or there should be massive pressure from the community.
Oh, don't get me started. I have a list as long as my arm that I took time and effort to photo, video and explain in detail in bug reports. Some as simple as changing a text label for a light set that is wrong. Has one single one been fixed? No, no it has not!!!
Translation: "We will only fix what is likely to cause mass refunds which could get us kicked from publishing platforms for selling unplayable games. Don't even think about us fixing anything else."
To be fair the passengers running around the tracks is realistic, I don't see that as a bug lol but the rest yeah, even know they are small niche ones they can still brake and ruin the experience of the game. It's like with the objectives not updating when starting a new service in timetable mode, that was broken in TSW5... Took them 6+ months to fix and it's a core part of the game and I reported it multiple times, it finally got fixed after I tagged all the community mangers in the Discord and bitched about it when TSW6 was released (thanks Alex for pushing it through finally).
My expectations for DTG fixing anything on older routes (older = pre TSW6) has completely vanished over the last couple of months. I could point out several bugs on every single route I ever travelled on. Even the oldest, like Ruhr-Sieg-Nord, still have unresolved issues to this day. Some of them as small and presumably easy to fix as this OHLE mast directly on the tracks in the sidings north of Hagen. Some of them more serious and immersion-breaking, like occasional erroneous signalling along the route, especially shunting signals in the yards. My point is, if even the oldest routes still include bugs which could/should have been fixed by now, what hope do we have that newer routes like Ludwigsbahn or other content like the E94 pack will be treated any better? And don't get me started on the Feedback Forum. I've grown completely disillusioned and this also dampens my enthusiasm for TSW overall. And I don't like that. In general I'm a very positive person, to bring me to such a negative mindset about something is quite a feat. It's such a good game in itself, but is left rotting by its developers. Or at least that's how it comes across The only upcoming thing I'll definitely gonna spend money for on day 1 is Maik's 420. Everything else I'll wait and see how the public feedback is first, before buying... if at all.
I saw they fixed the blank service on the 294 journey mode. they seem to not have seen there is also one on the 363 chapter in the base journey of DLG. I also stopped hoping on DTG. I expect to get what is shown on the release stream, the first week post launch patches to be a lie or delayed by a year, and the route breaking for some reason a month or three after it's been released.
Not in the UK it’s not! Very strictly monitored at stations and I have even seen staff shouting at people on the platform who have been slightly the wrong side of the yellow line as a train is about to depart. Many stations on multiple track sections now have fencing down the middle of the island platform to prevent people accessing the part where trains don’t normally call, as a suicide prevention measure. Always grinds my niggle driving BML, WCMLS or similar where passenger spawners have still been enabled on the Fast Line platforms and yes they even stand over the yellow line as I pass through at > 90 MPH.
At busy or manned stations yes but you still get the people who think they can cheat death by crossing the tracks mainly where they aren't going to get shouted at because no one is there lol. Oh yeah even I've been given a stern talking to about where I was standing when I was spotting at Glasgow Central back in August even though I wasn't at the edge or end of the platform. That's a good point! Are they hoping to get sucked off as you fly passed at 90mph+ lol. Speaking of passengers and WCMLS they still haven't bothered fixing passenger spawning at Euston or overground stations outside of Euston if you're London bound.
I ended up refunding Birmingham - Crewe and probably won't buy any more add-ons anymore due to the lack of fixing issues, even major bugs that locks up timetables, signals that show wrong aspects etc. When you can't even trust things to work day one, with a "promise" to fix that never comes, why bother?
This is my biggest gripe with the TSW. All routes ends with many small but immersion breaking bugs, which will not be fixed, like missing or wrong speed signs. For example Maintalbahn. I would love that route, but there is so many missing speed signs in the Aschaffenburg area, that it breaks my immersion everytime I play that route. Why is so big problem just to add these? Ironicaly in the old Main Spessart Bahn version is situatin with speed signs better, some of them missing just in Maintalbahn version of Aschaffenburg. I can understand that fixing bigger bugs can be difficult (like bad signalling all over Linke Rheinstrecke), but adding signs or just changing number on them?
It's a shame that things don't really get fixed in TSW unless the DLC recently released (in the last month, after that it's left to gather dust). The Mildmay line, which released as a very buggy route, I don't think has received a single bug fix. This is mainly for us console players but when DTG say that the "fix" for blurry textures is to disable layers, it really shows how little they care for the community. Why advertise a route to have so many timetable layers when they just tell you to disable them immediately? I think another issue is that most of the ambassadors over on YouTube will start drooling over every product (not all of them, but still most of them), even one who threatened to ban people from the chat if they criticise TSW6. My main issue with the game currently is the amount of bugs and half-finished products being released, and it's what is keeping me hesitant to buy anything TSW for the near future.
fixing bugs doesn't make money, doesn't make profit, and all dtg wants is quick money and profit that's why they focus on quantity instead of quality they release a bunch of dlcs, but without decent quality control, broken and full of bugs they only worry about fixing bugs that make the game completely unplayable so they don't get into legal trouble, and then it stops there... also it's impossible not to notice that (for some time now) tsw has been in the hands of third-party studios dtg at most releases one or two dlcs and then the rest is left to third parties this clearly indicates two things: 1 - they gave up on tsw (or are doing it little by little) 2 - they are developing a tsw UE5 edition from scratch (making us have to buy all the dlcs again) I hope I'm completely wrong
When ppl start to ignore DTG and sales start slipping extremely. When GTA6 come out with there new unreal engine 5. I think that would wake them up.
Doesn’t matter just like when gta5 came out. Ppl were on it like a bags of tricks. Specially gta online. Specially mods.
We all know DTG only too well, so we know that the updates you showed in your picture above will never really be fixed. Just look at TSW6 with its routes, which were released a month ago. What did they actually update on the Dresden-Leipzig route, for example? In my opinion, nothing at all. But why bother, when they released the first DLC right after TSW6 came out? And now they have to patch this first DLC, which was a questionable release to begin with. So DTG thinks that we are all just focusing on the first DLC, and DTG believes that we don't care what happens to the TSW6 routes. That's how it's always been; as soon as something new is released, the old stuff is forgotten. In my opinion, DTG is a real money-hungry developer that doesn't care what we post in the feedback threads.
This happened on a Richy Rail stream. I used to watch his channel a lot because the videos were very fun but now they just seem like their only purpose is to get me to buy the product. I get that he probably doesn't mind when products are buggy and not working as intended but his streams are very not-welcoming towards people who have any sort of criticism of TSW. It feels like as soon as someone mentions something negative about TSW him and his whole chat is quick to shut them down. I do have to say though his videos from before he became an ambassador were very enjoyable.
Perhaps I'm the odd one out as I never felt the urge to try MP in GTA V (the SP story was strong enough to keep me absorbed) and I can't recall ever using any mods.
GTA Online is such a boring grind-fest that bends itself over backwards to try to push you into buying shark cards.
It'd help if they spent less time on stupid modes no one uses like Conductor and Dispatch modes, and put more time and effort into making things more realistic, such as having doors automatically open and close and bell signals on services with Guards.
He seemed alright, but i only really watch streams from Dad Rail as an ambassador. Noted I'll not watch the TSW DSP lol
I didn't know that the FTF 423 replacing the MAG 423 was a bug; I thought I was the only one experiencing it because of a mod.
At this point I'm wondering how they even get certification from Microsoft to publish anything: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/g.../console-certification-requirements-and-tests Crashes are frequent, blurry textures are frequent to name two problems from the list of requirements.
Well, for starters DTG often doesn't fix game-breaking bugs! Can you provide me with this list? I have a google sheet of unfixed bugs I'd like to add them to.
Well, this behaviour seems to be common in the games industry. I played a lot Farming Simulator in the past, this game also has a lot of bugs, from game braking to visual bugs. It's very clear developers/modellers don't care to do it right and there is almost no quality control. Touching DLC after release costs only money, so the only reason for fixing some bugs is damage control. Only some small (indie) developers seems to care because the game is their passion. When only money counts, well we see what happens. Small things like no proper snow masks for roofs, so platforms under roofs are still white, occurs on many routes and it's really anoying me. But even more anoying are Z-fighting and popping sounds on Xbox, still not fixed after years......
Yes, sadly this mindset has become common amongst modern software developers in recent years, it seems. And that's not just games. The company I work for uses SolidWorks as CAD software, and we upgraded from 2023 version to 2025 just recently. The new version introduced a wealth of bugs and broke things which have been working just fine for over 20 years. At least their customer support is mildly more interested in helping people than DTG is. That's where my proposal comes from, that DTG should narrow their focus on keeping their game as up to date and bug free as possible, while leaving the creation of new routes and rolling stock to 3rd party developers. Most of them seem to pour a lot of their hearts' blood into their projects, TSG is a good example. I see this as a win-win: DTG will pull ahead of their competition and keep TSW relevant, so in turn it will keep earning them revenue for a longer time. Meanwhile the community will get a stable and long-living game with routes and vehicles which have been created with heart and soul.
I usually don’t hesitate to buy a new uk route as soon as it is released but for this one I’ve held off because it seems like it’s almost unplayable on console by what people have reported and that is sad because I was excited for it when it was revealed.
This is why I’m not rushing to buy the Scotland/Fishing DLC which seems rather overpriced for what amounts to a map and a few new gameplay features. Plenty of quality free maps (like Saxlingham which I’m currently playing) to enjoy.
Well plenty of folk were into it and yet still are. And yet it still one of the best ever open world games.
Blurry textures are not "graphical corruption." They are Unreal Engine telling you you don't have enough VRAM.
It actually does affect PCs with minimum VRAM its just in a different way, since PCs have the possibility to spill over VRAM to system ram whereas on the console it is already a shared pool and once its full not much can be done. On PC with an 8GB or lesser VRAM graphics card you will hit the bottleneck where memory fills and starts using system ram, which is much slower, and instantly drops your FPS from your average of 40/60 or whatever you can run the game in a stable way, to the 10s or at best 20s. It all recovers when you leave the area with high memory use and you get back to your normal framerate. PC folk is not immune to issues, we just have a much more varied hardware space and we can change more settings, even outside what is available in the UI, to reduce graphical fidelity, besides switching between 4k and HD modes that you can do on console. When you look at the fact that just to upgrade to a 16 GB graphics card you would need to spend 350 of dollars/euros PC folk is not even much better off than buying a new console when it ends up getting released. Yeah you can spend thousands of dollars, but look at the DTG streams, not even those can run the game at a constant framerate, even besides the stutters.
In fact it does. It's definitely a thing on all platforms, because it's an inherent feature (or flaw) of Unreal Engine: it handles VRAM overload by reducing LOD. On mine. I defeat it by using software DLSS, an option consoles don't have.
Well, whatever is causing these graphical corruptions is steadily getting worse as even older routes which used to run fine are now suffering from them. And yes, they are corruptions: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/in-cab-text-blurring.94940/#post-1060452
That may be, but what's causing it to run out of memory? It's a memory leak, seen it multiple times. Most devs fix it quickly though. DTG seem happy to leave it as it is and hope the end user has a machine capable of avoiding it
Sometimes there is a memory leak, but mostly it is a combination of multiple high-res textures and high-polygon volumes on top of the heavy CPU load of a busy schedule (consoles have shared RAM/VRAM, so one can swamp the other).
It does blurry textures on less busy routes like Edinburgh to Glasgow, Fife Circle. Hell, I made the mistake of picking up Birmingham-Crewe after 'update', and did a 350 service from Birmingham to Crewe. Blurred before I got out the tunnels. Then did a 220 service, similar start time, same weather. Didn't blur at all. It's got all the hallmarks of a memory leak, but as you said earlier, the textures being Sub N64 level is UE4s way of not crashing. Stop excusing DTG. They're being lazy.
