I recently redownloaded TSC (I used to play a lot on my older desktop), but I've noticed this weird sound glitch that I can't really describe well, particularly in the cab. Everything sounds low quality and "muddy" if that makes sense, especially cab controls, which are weirdly quiet and only seem to play on one side of my headset. My guess is that it's a compatibility issue with Windows 11, as my desktop running Windows 10 doesn't have any issues like this, while my Laptop with Windows 11 does. Any suggestions on how to rectify this are much appreciated.

There should not be any "compatibility" issues using windows 11. I for one, as well as thousands of others are running TSC on Windows 11 machines. I would think that you have an audio driver, audio/USB plug or sound card issue. Try searching through the computer sound settings, update your audio driver and use a different output source to diagnose your problem. Are you using the same headphones on both machines? Is it only TSC that acts this way? You could try a file verify in case something became corrupted during your initial installation. Start the verification and walk away and let it finish without interruption.

Are you sure you have the plug in correctly? Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.

Yep, same headphones. Every other game on my PC is totally fine as well, but I'll look into my drivers and/or verify TSC's files.

    I have the same problem.

I have an old PC (with windows 10) and the cab sound is perfect.
But in my new PC (windowns 11) the cab sound seems "stuffy". I almost can't hear the sound of the engine and the brakes.
The only sound you can clearly hear is the wheels passing over the grooves in the tracks.

I already reinstalled the game and tried this solutions: https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/80000896172
    But nothing solved the problem...

If I can't find a solution to this, unfortunately I won't buy any more DLCs, because the gameplay experience is terrible.

Tell us the train and the route and somebody could try to replicate the problem

Do you have EFX turned on in Settings?

Hardly the DLC's fault a bit like shooting the horse because the wheel fell off the cart.

I have the problem in all routes and trains.
(For example: Class 365 / London Peterborough)
Yes, I have EFX turned on.

    Have you checked your speakers?
Have you checked the sound in the controlpanel?

I noticed significant changes many years ago in TSC sound, platforms sounds cutting off early and abruptly, and aggressive panning.
As far as we discussed my game seems to think I'm using a physical 3D sound system next to my monitor and in headphones you get the fronts.
Because with physical speakers you actually hear the left speaker with your right ear, same about engine from behind you.

(Initially x64 used OpenAL32, and switching to 64 caused the issue. It's possible that the game uses wrong number formats.)
