1st DTG makes an update that basically deletes the game, and now one that puts one out the wrong update......
The OP of that Steam thread who was a valued member here, correctly points out the root cause for these mishaps: DTG's incompetence at housekeeping their own games. Especially now TSC has been given the axe and all resources, those omnipotent 'teams', are required 'all hands on deck' to keep TSW afloat, since that game seems to be drifting towards dangerous cliffs on the consoles. Signaling scripts again? A core feature, which going by the size of their .out files, are amongst the most complicated. And many old clear text Kuju scipts that have been altered to suit various routes and eras are since obfuscated into .out files making trouble shooting very difficult.
At least, finally its not that bad when DTG will nothing do with TS anymore except give help to thirdparties. So future updates causing trouble will be gone. I really dont understand what DTG is doing with their updates wether TSC or TSW ( they too, I guess )
Judging by the state TSW is falling into, I have a feeling the "teams" (aka the part time hackers retained in India, The Phillipines and Romania) are all being redirected towards the folly that is Metro Rivals. TSW increasingly feels like the next DTG title teetering on the dge of abandonment, if they can't get to grips with the core and lousy QA on the DLC.
We really need a ROFLOL emoji on the Like button... Anyway as the Monthly Mastery is broken again for November, off to play some Farming Sim.
We are looking into options on the best way forward with this and will let you know when we have more news.
That's good to know, but isn't the best option to move forward rather obvious? It doesn't need looking into, just actioning! Can you say when the fault will be corrected please?
I really hope TSC and TSW don't get abandoned. Ultimately TSC 75.8a is the best in my opinion and TSW6 is pretty good too, I just think routes from TSW3 and earlier need to be brought up to modern standards along with continuous improvements to the core. I hope MetroRivals does not replace TSW. TSW needs to stay. While Metro Rivals looks interesting, I don't think it's a realistic true to life depiction of the MTA NYC subway system. The graphics are amazing but the gameplay is way too arcadey
It is better to check what needs doing rather than just pushing another update out that causes an unexpected problem
A little more positivity on this forum might encourage DTG to try harder instead of this constant bashing and complaining about everything.
I don't know whether this is an issue with the update or not, but I'm trying to run the scenario on the WCML South Sheerness - Mossend with APs Class 92 Enhancement pack, which came with the 92. I keep getting missing rail vehicles, JT IWB and JT IGA wagons, which I have. I have uninstalled them and installed them to no avail. Checking with TS Tools, which points to an issue with the wagons' bin files.
Have you installed the extra stock pack for the enhancement pack? I think it includes extra files for these cars.
Yes, that was the problem. I must have been having a senior moment, as I generally install the extra stock pack. Thanks.
I'm having a run up the Welsh Marches line tonight (BMG/PLD route) and noticing that track is missing in Cwmbran and Ludlow platforms (possibly others) - is this potentially linked or a separate issue.
I remember having that problem with the route when I first bought it - I forget what the solution was
So what´s going on with the situation? I´ve just came back from holiday and I´m scared to start the update, that Steam wants to push to me.
You'll probably need to reapply the weather stuff (can't remember how) as I guess the update will have reset all the time-of-day files to their default.
If you manually applied the AP weather to any routes then then their modified time-of-day files should still be there, as they will have to have been moved outside the .ap file.
Have you got the latest version of AP weather? Why is everyone blaming the update, as my AP weather works fine? Everyone is just looking for a scapegoat.
The AP Weather is unaffected by the latest update, but some of the weather patterns that were rendered unreliable by the previous update to TSC, perhaps unsurprisingly, are not fixed. For instance the thunderstorms in the APSWEP scenario for the MML still have a 50/50 chance of triggering correctly.
no, they are not. I had to copy them back to the all non UK routes. The UK content is mostly uneffected but the German stuff always suffers from these updates. We have route upgrades for almost every route on the German side and they all get wipped out with these stupid updates.
You may be talking about UK content.... but I can assure you that lots of modded stuff gets wiped out by updates beeing triggered. I wish they would just leave TSC alone at this point.
My AP weather / clouds was disabled by this update. There is some script that runs which was no longer run. A reinstall solved it. I was half expecting that as it's happened before. I also suffered from some missing assets as noted in the OP. Fortunately I had made a backup as advised in the DTG article and copying my assets and contents directory back resolved all issues found so far. I found it suspicious that DTG suggested making a backup. It's like they knew something might go wrong. My worst fear was that it triggered a Steam File Verification, but that didn't happen.
The update triggered a Steam File Verification for me, did wipe out some mods including AP weather. Perhaps not surprising since I run version 75.8. Everything easily restored since I have all mods saved in a separate folder so I just have to copy and paste into the Railworks folder. The mayor problem is that DTG "updated" some DLC:s with older versions so I have to redownload the most current versions.
I tried that a few days ago and at that time, it might have changed now, the versions I got from Steam were the old ones that were included in the main update. Presumably DTG need to sort that out with Steam before they push the update again.
Did you download each depot (as per Spikee1975:s instructions in this thread: DTG has pushed wrong updates to DLC :: Train Simulator Classic General Train Simulator Discussions) and then copied the files to your Railworks folder? Just did that for a few DLC:s I own and I get the new files, not the files from the main update.
. There is a fix to the missing tracks problem, I think it is on this forum, but I'm not sure where..
No, didn't try that yet. If DTG don't push the correct update in the next few days I might do it that way.
There is a fix for the QD missing tracks on Train Sim Community, uploaded by Spikee. I don't think that going back to get the older versions, or whatever, would solve the problem.
