From what I gather, DTG pretty much start on the new version of TSW in or abouts as soon as the current one launches. So, if there is going to be a TSW 7, what would you like to see coming to the next version, what would make the game complete for you?

    1. DTG produced steam trains and routes.

    2. DTG produced freight trains and routes.

    3. Full court press on fixing long standing gameplay and texture issues, especially for console players.

    4. Emphasis on fixing ridiculous NPC behavior.

    5. Overhaul QA process so that routes and trains are not released until they are ready for prime time.

    6. Emphasize quality over quantity with new dlc.

( some overlap here obviously. And it's all wishful thinking, I don't expect any of this to happen, unfortunately. )

I probably don't wanna see the pileup that results from that derailment going on in the image there, that's for sure, that is gonna be a whole heap of fire and broken bones.

At this point I just want a pause on further development of the base game and concentration to turn on fixing major issues that have been ongoing since TSW4 and really making an effort to iron them out... And I'm not on about small 'plaster fixes'.

It's pointless asking for future features and content when the game at the moment is pretty unplayable. Fix the base game, and then we can start thinking about future projects.

These core issues are already going to conflict with everything currently on the roadmap.

More focus on enhancing and fixing what we already have

    a) bug-fixing
    b) optimisation
    c) perfecting new features before adding new ones
    d) route remastering
    e) more rolling stock packs
    f) timetable updates

One of the best things to happen to TSW lately was the 170 pack for Cross-City, which brought a previously dead route to life. More of that please. This, combined with a reasonable pace of new releases could keep the game fresh while improving its stability and reliability while bringing it up to its potential

I'm also coming around to the idea that an actual new version wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Yes, we'd have to start again with new collections, but it does seem like TSW is such a massive undertaking that it's difficult to go in and fix fundamental issues. A new new TSW could:

    * Use the latest Unreal Engine version
    * Be more optimised from the get-go.
    * Be more effiicient in terms of space required (e.g. separating stock from routes)
    * Pre-layer future rolling stock into timetables

It could be the usual 3 route release, but would need a generous set of rolling stock to begin with. Something like the base sets we got with TS classic.

The game needs fixing rather than releasing yearly games with the same issues

    Hi warpshell

Have you actually looked around the forum?

Because this is about the third or fourth thread on this topic, so it's really unnecessary.
You can share your opinions on TSW7, 8, or 9 in existing threads.

I think it's too early to write off the porting of content, it is more of a "will for it to happen" rather than being impossible.

"tsw7 - what do you want?"

I want DTG to stop this pointless practice of releasing a "new" game every year; it's getting out of control (actually, it's been out of control for a long time now)
I foresee a new TSW (or whatever name they'll give it) made from scratch in Unreal Engine 5, and us having to buy all the DLCs again

Isn’t there already a similar thread discussing this?

Anyhow with the management and development team now positively salivating at the Temple Of Metro Rivals, I wouldn’t be altogether surprised if TSW6 is the last iteration. It’s already bloated with content, enough to keep most of us occupied for years to come. There seems to be little direction as to where they want to go, putting out yet more disjointed DLC that the hardware struggles to cope with. We get half hearted fixes to the core and the content and when called out on it the managers and developers suddenly state they are no longer posting on the forum.

However if TSW7 does come about we can probably expect the following…
No significant core updates. The improvements we see from mods such as better environment and now real weather will be beyond the capability of “engineering” to incorporate in the game.

We will still only have one save slot and no solution to the chained runs issue.

We will get a UK route from Rivet.

We will get another double track electric German interurban route.

We will get another 30 mile US commuter route.

We will not get anything new like a revival of steam traction or BR Classic.

We will be subjected to endless upbeat streams saying how wonderful everything is.

The product will get another 10% price rise.

You're right but there is so much pent up frustration among players that they jump on every opportunity to vent that exasperation.

Players point out errors, write support tickets and complain about playability problems and yet get little or no response. And when there is a patch, it often makes things worse or introduces new bugs.

Who can blame players for their irritation and vexation?

Or worse, get a response a few hours later with a ratings system and feedback box asking 'how did we do'.

Farcical that I get this regularly after bug reports. I know it is basically automated, but come on guys, really? It's insulting. A lot of these are bugs that you can find posts about from three plus years ago as well!!

What would I want for Train Sim World 7?

Well, I'd love to give a really sarcastic response, but at this point, this franchise is a lost cause, I feel like I'd be kicking a dead horse. Never mind.

Seriously? I and others have spent hundreds, and in some cases thousands, on DLC. If you think we'd be willing to write off that investment on the off-chance that the next iteration of TSW *might* be better optimised, *might* be free of bugs, and *might* be more efficient in its use of disc space, then you might want to think again....

A collaboration with a dev currently making quality steam locos for Train Sim Classic would be huge. If TSW could be an all encompassing upgrade to TSC rather than trading blows.

There must be at least one of them who can be given the keys to it and have the technical expertise to spend some time on it to make it work.

Just had that now for my report about the Monthly Mastery distance objective not updating. My response will depend on whether they fixed it or not. Previously DTG Chris was dealing with it personally but this time it went to the AI!

Edit: No it's still not been updated, so that's a zero on all levels, then.

I always just give them a 1 or 2 score (2 if they have also sent a personal email response from a real human) with the message - Will be impressed if it is ever fixed.

A new or updated game engine with an easy to use route editor! It would be great to have community made freeware routes instead of having to purchase every route.

I definitely don't think this without reservations, but it will happen eventually - that time is getting closer. I'm not saying I definitely want it to happen, not at all, but I do find myself more convinced by the idea, and it's only going to get more appealing as time goes on. Obviously you'd hope it would come with some other enhancements too, but TSW won't be here forever, nothing is. I've been through this before, as a box of MSTS addons in my parents' garage will testify.

I think that’s the better scenario. What we’ll get will be a new TSW with half of the code copied to UE5 from the current game (anything to save development time/money) and us having to buy all dlcs again.

They actually fixed the timetable issue for chained services, and the objectives reloaded correctly from saved game too. At least for me.

-New countries: Russia, China, India, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, etc.
-Existing countries w/ new routes: Canada, France, Italy
-New licenses: Brightline/FEC, Conrail, Metra, Seattle Sounder, Caltrain (for electrified Peninsula Corridor route), etc.
-More steam locos, especially in the US; restored US steam would be cool (SP #4449, UP #844, UP #4014, UP #3985, ATSF #2926, ATSF #3751, N&W #611, PRR #1361, PRR #5550 T1 Duplex (when completed))
-More US fallen flag railroads/routes: B&O, SP, PRR, C&O, Southern RR, Seaboard/SCL/SAL, Chessie
-Classic Baldwin, Alco, FM, EMD, and GE locos (1950s-60s)
    -Longer routes (100 miles+)
-Route extensions to make much longer routes possible (ie: UP Evanston Sub, BNSF/ATSF Seligman Sub, NEC, etc.)
-Accurately-simulated hump yard operations (maybe UP Bailey Yard, SP/UP West Colton Yard, or BNSF Barstow Yard)
    -Remote-control yard switching operations
    -Hostler jobs in loco shops
    -Cab chatter
    -Better loco sounds

    I'm closing the door.
No TSW 7, absolutely, and from now on, limited DLC and only on sale.
I have enough material for months and months of play.
Be smart, we'll have to start over soon...

I must try that, then. Looks like it sneaked in under the bar.

Edit. No it doesn't. On the second run after returning to free roam, no objective data and schedule is empty.

Like you say, not likely to happen, at least as long as DTG is owned by a big company like Focus Entertainment. The old saying was If it ain’t on the Roadmap, it ain’t happening. Now it’s If it don’t generate profit, it ain’t happening.

I'm beginning to lose quite a lot of confidence in DTG overall. The management seems to have been busy around the launch time of TSW6, but since the launch they have gone quiet on the forum and left less senior members of staff to take the flack which isn't completely fair.

I think I'm just going to take an extended break from the game altogether until I see substantial reviews around core improvements. I think all we can do in the mean time is advocate as much as possible for Thursdays road map and tell them everything is pretty much pointless if you can't play them without major faults affecting them.

Can you tell how disheartened I am yet?

All things considered if DTG doesn't get there act together there may not be a TSW7.If there is a TSW7 will it really any different than the last 7 editions.
They keep releasing unfinished broken bugged flawed DLC (I'm sorry but there's no nice way to spin this to sound good)
I notice TRAIN SIMULATOR is coming to PS5 and XBOX Series.

Newbie question, I bought TSW 6 the day it was released and since then I have bought about 8 routes from the TSW 6 store on steam. If they come out with a new version next year, will all the routes I Have now work in the new version, or will I lose some?

Yes, so long as Dovetail don't change how TSW works, if they decide to shove it into UE5 then there could be problems.

DTG should never have touched steam era trains if they couldn't even deliver at least one US and german steam locomotive.Because there UK routes got Jubilee/8F/4F/Flying Scottsman and Thomas the Tank Engine. Are you kidding me.

I just want TSW 6 to run a bit better. I'm not too bothered about future iterations of the game. (XBox console....gen9).

For tsw 7 I would like dtg to return to how it was in the early days of tsw. The dtg of today doesn't seem like dtg anymore.

A change to the terms and conditions of third party publishers so that Rivet Games don't get away with putting out substandard routes, braking them further with an update, then abandoning their broken product whilst continuing to enjoy the money they're still taking from paying customers selling their broken routes. I have quite a negative perspective of Train Sim World primarily because the two routes that interest me the most are also the most broken, and perhaps DTG would be best not associated with that. DTG generally do much better with their own stuff and if Rivet Games are involved with a DTG route, DTG are still in control and do release updates and fixes demonstrating that there can be a place for Rivet Games involvement in a more positive way.

    Steam Play official support
Safety systems on by default; the logic that it is better to SPAD and be kicked out of the game without learning anything makes no sense to me.
Proper dispatch and no door activated signals as you can't play Train Sim World like a train simulator if you are always required to break rules for the game to work.

More resources allocated to development and less time on things like music and marketing videos.

    - Bug fixing
    - Optimisation
    - More other countries than UK and GER
    - Creator Club Improvements
    - Remaster of routes

    And most importantly :
The non-existence of TSW7 (even though I know it won't happen)
