As we say here "one picture explains more than 1000 words" ! Now I understand the difference between point and location exit. And in the second picture, where the circles don't overlap does the annotation appear again when I reach B ?
Wow, the app gets more better the more I understand it. I was wondering how I could measure nearly exact distances so that e.g. I can set a point 50m before and another 50m behind a bridge. Just now I noticed that in the right column "Closest Locations" you can see how far away a certain location is. So I set a New Location in the middle under the bridge. The resulting point has the same coordinates of course. Now I walk back until I see in Closest Locations a 50m distance to this point and add these coordinates to the location. If I now erase the first point by unselecting Custom Radius and clicking on the small X, the Location itself keeps it's coordinates so that I still can measure the second point on the opposite side in the same way ! Don't Save before measuring the second point, otherwise the deleted point won't show up in the Closest Location List any more. To erase a point, there must be at least two points in a location. So if you made a mistake and want to change a point to a different coordinate, you first have to create the new point and then you are able to erase the first wrong one. Locations can't be erased (yet?) but there's a workaround. You can open the exported file with the windows editor or, much better with Notepad++ which is free of charge. As you can see, this is very structured: Every Location ist started and finished with </PointOfInterest>. If I erase the marked section, the London Paddington location is erased in the app after I save this file and import it. Of course you must obey the Golden Rule: Always make a backup of the file before editing something! Of course you can also edit all values that you normally edit in the app.
Question for the author: Is it possible to add ready-made presets for the arrangement of data displayed on the screen? Maybe I'm stupid, but I still haven't managed to get the display to appear in the upper right corner. Why not add pre-made center/corner locations + fine-tuning options for those who need custom locations?
You can delete, the button might need a better position though... Also points and location can have a collored ribbon in you're in range of the point https://gitlab.com/winzarten/tsw-route-annotations/-/wikis/Application-Overview This should do it.. I honestly don't think it could by much simplier then horizontal - right, vertical - top. Just don't forget to click apply below
Did some digging and this will be tricky to do for the expert locos (with other words, impossible). The 101 expert does not use track wetness at all. TSG has actually developed a custom wetness model, which is calculated independently from weather variables like precipitation, fog, temperature, etc… also, the wetness is not going away in an Instant, if you simply switch off precipitation, as it is a function of time. It should still work for the standard locos, though…
Hi Winzarten I have a small problem. When I'm driving in TSW, no weather symbols or data are displayed. I have also ticked the box for Show Weather Info in Overlay in the app. I have also tried changing the 0 at the top of the monitor to a 1. But no matter what I do, it doesn't show me any overlays in TSW. I don't have to tick Show Test Overlay for the weather overlay, do I?
Hi Winzarten Yes, but if you activate the option shown in the image, announcements about tunnels, stations, etc. will also be displayed, won't they? Because I only want to see the weather data in TSW, not any other announcements.
Yes. In the current version there is no easy toggle how to have only the weather overlay... I'll add it as an option.. But this should work: Setting the Right/Left Margin (based on where it is alligned) to something ridiculous should move the annotation out of the window visible area :-D
I love how much information this mod gives you whilst driving. I simply could not go without having it installed now, as it seems ‘empty’ and rather lifeless without it. I also love how it pretty much chooses and does all the weather transitions and settings for you. Fantastic work!
I have the same error 500 message. Edit: I see what happened. It is not auto detecting the API key. So you have to copy it from Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld6\Saved\Config and paste it in the settings window in the APP.
Hi everyone, Error 500 theoretically indicates a problem with the server, which is temporarily unavailable or undergoing maintenance. This can happen quite often, for example during updates, but it's only temporary. By the way, I'm currently playing TSW6 with [TSW route and annotation] and everything is working perfectly! Hoping you get your connection back very soon. Best regards, tof
Just annotations, no details? I just want to know if something's wrong with me, or if the server is down and they'll fix it.
For me it works without issues. Could you please save the .log file and upload it i.e. here? There is a button in the settings
Looks like to be an error with the weather service.. when retreiving some parameters from historic data (i.e. weather code, snow depth), the request fails.. It also happens when you use their website https://open-meteo.com/en/docs/historical-weather-api I would suggest changing the mode to custom year and setting some recent year. There it looks to be working. Should be temporal, as it also crashing on their webside, and it was definitely working previously.
New version is out First, some info for those that are doing annotations. Having a location (bridge/tunnel), with an empty text is now a valid case. This is becasue it is not feasable to get the correct name for every bridge and tunnel.. but having the information where those things are is beneficial for the weather part of the app. So if the text field is empty, the location will not be shown to the user, but the app can still use the location for the weather stuff. The app now reads the sunrise and sunset information from TSW and shows them in the TSW Weather Panel. So finding the correct time for a nice evening run is now easier.. Also, nightime now have different set of icons where appropriate. Neat idea by Train Sim Society I was also able to implement the idea OpenMinded had. Tunnels will now be dry... this works for both annotated and not annotated tunnels. For annoated onse, there is a progression based on distance from entry / exit. For unannotated it is not smoothed, because I can only check if the track section (usually 200m) has a tunnel... This also means that underground stations should be dry, even when rest of the world will be wet.. And annotated bridges will be wetter, making traction more difficult. Once again, it is smoothed based on the distance from start / end points. The ratio of the increase can be changed in options (default is 2x max), where also both of these features can be enabled/disabled separately. I personally love things like these, because it makes you think a little bit more about the route you're driving.. especially with a heavy train. It is now also possible to disable just the location information from the overlay. And as a small usability improvement. The app should remember it's location and open on that location when is launched.
Absolutely amazing! Thanks so much for first of all considering this and second of all actually implementing this really looking forward trying this later today!
