I'm fashionably late to the party at discovering this, however this mod by Train Sim Community user 'Winzarten' is simply game changing with the way it interacts with Train Sim World. It enables three very useful core features: 1.) Real world, live weather: ️ As the name suggests, this enables the real world, live weather, based on the location you are at in the game. So, if you're at Reading in game for example, it will gather the data from the real life location and automatically apply the appropriate weather settings. It is also fully dynamic too, so it'll change weather conditions in real time, based on what it is doing in real life. The weather data is sourced from Open-Meteo. 2.) Historical weather data: If you are playing a classic route and you want to see how the weather was back then, for that day, you can select a date back in time and it will apply the weather conditions appropriately, based on what it was doing that day. 3.) Route annotations and data: This function enables some very useful and interesting route specific information. This includes the current weather conditions, elevation, wind speed and precipitation chance. This is updated in real time, so the location will update appropriately, depending on where you are driving in game. I have included a few screenshots below, showing the mod live in action. Yep, I didn't really notice until last week as well (i think the authors thread title should have live weather in it!), it really does enhance the experience, the live weather is brilliant. Been using it all the time with Crewe-Brum, getting amazing results with the unsettled conditions recently. It all happens so smoothly as well. A must have for PC owners.
Been using this for 2 weeks and love it. I have my weather set to 'Historical" since I want what was there at the time frame the route's schedule was written in. This was 2016 in Germany, a sunny day with snow still on the ground from an earlier weather event. One really important thing that has me hooked on this, the author is constantly listening to the feedback and update constantly. One thing to keep in mind when using this app, it totally overrides any in game weather setting both DTGs and God Mode with JetWash's mod.

That's amazing and I wonder if it is possible to somehow make an Ebula for German rolling stock, since I guess it also relies on current train location?
Truly game-changing. I'd even argue that word is an understatement. Playing without this, after having so for so long, feels... wrong. lol
What I love about it, is the fact that you never know what the weather is going to be when you open a service. It makes the whole sim more interesting.
Great app, but no idea why we needed a 2nd thread about it. Especially when the original thread (by the developer)is still active and has the dev interacting daily in it with updates. A 2nd thread is only going to dilute the message and mean people may miss important updates about it
JetWash changing the subject is there any plans on doing a enhancement pack for the riviera line like poster updates and those little things that make it just that little bit better. I don't see any modders really doing this anymore on most of the new routes.

Was just about to say something similar. How come DTG haven’t designed this themselves to include in the game. Would have been a better selling point than the random signal delays (which I’ve yet to encounter) or the overcooked train faults.
Afraid not, we’ve all been a bit busy. Enhancement Packs, at least from us, are a thing of the past I’m afraid.

After watching the video on live weather and annotations, I decided to give mods a try again and I must say, what a difference mods make to the overall experience and immersion of TSW, especially this mod. I am amazed how much more realistic the weather is. It's really cool that you have the option to run a service with live weather or historical weather and seeing how well ToD4 can really run. It's definitely hard to go back after experimenting with live weather and annotations. This is a must have for the catalogue of mods that are available. While I enjoy what DTG releases, I also enjoy the creativity the modding community brings to make TSW even more enjoyable
How can a modder do something that a game developer has no idea how to do? Rather sad. Its things like this where I sometimes regret console.
I am not sure if this is part of the TSW Live weather and annotations, but I just noticed on one of the NYT services, there were fireworks approaching Newark-Penn Station. I have not seen this before on the NYT route but I thought it was a nice little easter egg
Got to be better than the goddawful dynamic weather which I never use as it changes on a sixpence and often gets stuck in torrential rain or a 60’s London peasouper.
Can you use the live and historic weather side of the mod without using the annotations? I’m really not fussed about having them pop up all the time as though watching a cab ride video as that doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest but would like the extra weather functionality.
Yes, you can. I've never had the annotations turned on but I've just been using the live weather each time I play. There's a checkbox in the overlay menu to enable or disable it.
