I spend all of my time on TSW completing timetables, I have now got up to Cathcart Circle Line. However, I thought I would give Formation Desiger a go..... Square Peg... Round Hole.

My toys are not playing nice, they won't join up, what am I doing wrong? I got one train to join, saved it, but where does it go then, how do I access it?

    Any ideas?

You can access 'homemade' formations in both Free Roam and Scenario Planner.

FREE ROAM - Pick your location, pressTAB / Place Train, choose your loco then select CUSTOM FORMATIONS.
SCENARIO PLANNER - Create your service in the usual way, select loco, then select PERSONAL FORMATIONS.

In both cases you will then see a drop down menu of any formations you have created (and named & saved) in Formation Designer. These can then be selected and used in the same way as any 'official' formation.

Below is a screenshot, created just now, of my CL33(propelling)+4TC Formation dropped into Retford on the ECML using method 1.

    Good luck :)

I am on console, so I will try and put what you told me into practice.

It's one of mine. I'm about to upload it in a minute but, basically, it's 3 Mk1 liveries in BR Blue Grey with SR running numbers. In the case of the DTSO that is a double numbered unit so that, when flipped, you get to see a different running number to the one at the other end of the 4-car unit. Obviously you need a bit of imagination to run it but it is something a bit different and quite good fun :)

Well done. You'll feel like you've got a whole new game now :)

I've just uploaded the 4TC. I'd be interested to see if you can get that to work ;)
Creators Club - 4TC Unit 403 plus CL33 propelling (DJ) Formation File.
Creators Club - 4TC-403 S76273-4 DTSO (DJ) Livery File
Creators Club - 4TC-403 TFK-S70846 (DJ) Livery File
Creators Club - 4TC-403 TBSK-S70814 (DJ) Livery File
I assume that if you just subscribe to these then you'll end up with a CL33+4TC formation that you can drive from the back
(Forgot to say that the Mk1s come from Liverpool /Crewe (SoS) and Peak Forest (PFT). So you would need these two routes to have the base stock to create the 4TC).

Great, I downloaded it, so how do I get it into free roam or scenario?

Do you know what? This is the first time that I have ever been involved in using a CC Formation file. Usually I make my own but, in this case, I needed to have a formation with the player loco at the back and my method wouldn't work for that.

I believe that subscribing to the formation file in question should be enough for you to be able to view it in-game. (Hopefully someone else will come along and let us know if this isn't the case).

Start off in Free Roam. Go and select a train in the usual way highlighting the CL33 as the player loco. You should then be given a choice of headings from which you can then select a formation. One heading is "Official" and I don"t think you want that. Another is "Creative Centre" and I'm guessing that's that where you'll find my 4TC+CL33 formation.

The other check you could do is to actually go to the Hub and check "My Subscriptions" and and see if you are subscribed to this formation.

Apologies for being vague but I've never downloaded or uploaded a formation before.
