Hi Everyone! I'm Candace, and I've recently joined the Community Team here at Dovetail Games. I'll be learning from our current Moderators, the DTG Team, and from the community about this wonderful Train World! I'll mostly be focused on serving the US-based community and keeping the team up to date with issues while focusing on engagement activities. A little about me: I've worked with multiple video game studios, doing everything from Twitch Streaming to Social Media Management. I've been in the Community Management and Social Media World for around 12 years. I've worked on a lot of SIM and Cozy Games, while also juggling FPS, 4X, and other genres, so I know games. Some of my more unique work as a Community and Social Media Manager has been with board gaming, wargaming, TTRPGs, and 3D Modeling. I am familiar with coding in various languages, including Python, Java, and object-oriented programming languages. I have an ORANGE CAT, a girl orange cat, she may make appearances in various pictures, if she behaves. I also have a little Chihuahua who can't sit still long enough for her close-up. I'm also a mom, which has been an interesting journey. I paint minis in my spare time (Yes, it's Warhammer, and no, I don't play Imperium) I am also an actress, costume designer, and work to scare people for charity. I just wanted to say hello and learn more about trains! We just recently got the Mardi Gras Route in my area, so I've got an upcoming ticket to ride! TSW6 has been a blast so far. If you have any suggestions or ideas on which trains I should try out, let me know!
A very warm welcome to the forum Candace! I've really appreciated your input so far and you taking time to write down feedback and interacting with forum members and reassuring them.
I never realized how much "purr-kor" a cat can do. I'll pop into meetings, and she'll be on the back of my chair just because.
Welcome to the community Candace ! Best wishes for your new role As far as the suggestions for trains - You should try driving the F40PH-2CAT from the Peninsula Corridor; preferably on a live stream. That would be the most appropriate TSW welcome Spoiler: Spoiler It has manually lapped air brakes and that makes it very entertaining for a new driver to drive and the audience to enjoy
Look if I can make a bus on Bus Sim 21 go on 2 wheels, we'll see how bad I am at making a train go on two wheels/rail slides/flip over. Shouldn't be too hard, right?
Welcome to the dungeon! I recommend you start with UK commuter trains. Those are the easiest to start learning how to drive and the signals and safety systems are easy compared to german or US trains.
"...Yes, it's Warhammer, and no, I don't play Imperium..." But, but, but... The Emperor Protects... Welcome aboard
I've been going through and doing the train tutorials for each one I own. I'll admit I use the shortcut keys for the passenger doors, though. I think I've mostly played the 323, but I'll definitely check out more. I was eyeing the 350s, but I know they've had some issues on the B2C route, so I was waiting on those to get fixed.
Welcome to the DTG forum. Orange cat...? Surely you mean ginger.....? I am teasing of course. I hope you enjoy your time here. The community can be somewhat....lively. I am intrigued, What Warhammer 40k army do you play? As regards to what trains you can try. Anything BR Blue really but the Classic 87 is a fantastically modelled loco. Cheers. Graham
Oh she's a ginger for sure, but I love her to bits. I play either Dark Elves/Drukhari or the regular Eldar with Harlequins mixed in (since they stole my book). If I play AoS I run a Cities of Sigmar, so I can have dwarves and stormcast fight together if I want. Oh nice! I'll try the 87!
My old cat was an orange (ginger) and white. Unfortunately she had to be to sleep last year but I still love her
Hi Candace. Welcome to the DTG forum. I hope you enjoy your time here. The Class 86 is another well modelled loco to drive in TSW.
Our current (black) cat is now 14 but still very active, quite amazing considering she had a major intestinal operation at 2yo which all the vets didn’t seem to think she would survive. Our previous cat was a ginger and white (snipped) male but sadly he had to be PTS at 14 as he had severe kidney failure and went downhill fast. Before that he was very much a larger than life character and occasionally even bit of a bully where other cats were concerned, though we did spot him a few times napping with next doors cat once they settled their differences.
Good day to you miss or ma'am? I don't know what is preferred these days. Welcome to the team. Is the cat fully red like a fox or tabby red? Anyway I hope you bring good things to dtg.
My cat was around 20 years old so even if she did had to put to sleep, she certainly had a very long life for a cat
My mum got a kitten shortly after I was born. I was 19 when the cat died naturally. It had several homes in the neighborhood. Sometimes I would see it roaming around, several miles from where we lived. It was a black cat and yes my mum did own a book of spells. Never seen her riding a broom though.
One of our previous cats from when I was a baby/toddler used to spend more of his time round at a retirement home that was round the corner than actually with us
I think they go anywhere they are likely to get food. One of the neighbours used to complain about our cat letting itself in and eating all their cats food.
Welcome Candace! Cats are important in TSW. They are waiting for you in several routes now in smaller or larger quantities and the they tend to be very present in live streams sometimes.
Welcome aboard! While,I appreciate the focus on US material, don’t be afraid to hop north of the border to Canada! It would be great to see another Canadian DLC someday.
You always will! She looks like such a sweetie, and I'm sure she probably caused her own share of chaos.
Oh wow, that is incredible. I had a little black cat that lived to be around 17; she was absolutely one of the best pets I ever had. Pet loss hits differently, though. I hope y'all are okay after losing your ginger boy.
I don't really care about the miss or ma'am stuff. I think now I'm technically a ma'am. I'm still getting used to teenagers saying "Yes Ma'am" to me. As for the cat in question, she's a tabby, I believe.
Oh mine defintiely says hi, and I'm working on making her a little train cat tree thing to sleep in behind me. And I might be the worst streamer now, as I must find the cats.
Cat pics get me every time!! We had to have the last of two surviving brothers put to sleep at the grand old age of 21 earlier this year. A very, very sad day allround, but both him and his brother (who made it 17) were absolute stars since the day we got them from Cats Protection in 2006.
It's great to have Candace on our team supporting the community, and helping raise issues and feedback to our internal groups! A warm welcome, and I adore the cat photos!!
Hey Candace! Nice to see you’re not an AI! I just found this thread but it’s nice to meet you! (Besides on some other threads lol) if I recommend any locomotives, id recommend the HSP-46 on Boston Worcester or the loco DLC for Boston Sprinter
I'm not American, but I have a deep passion for American heavy freight and am really looking forward to seeing new routes in train simulation games. I've been waiting for this moment for far too long.
all hail OCD, Orange Cat Dominion! ... I am sure is connected to the collective orange cat braincell ... anyway, ehm, I guess you will be seeing a lot of my posts since I tend to see tiny little bugs and oddities that most dont even notice (in US content included)
If you look closely at my avatar, you will see our little Chihuahua. She's a mix but has the traits of a Chihuahua, Rarely still and almost never silent.
Candace, welcome to our little community from a fellow American, Virginia. Love the cat picture, I am also a "cat person", though currently do not have one.
