It's going to be tough. You're feeling bad, but I'm fine this month. It would be fine if everyone were like that, but no.
My Complete 3 Scenarios or Timetables whilst it is Raining isn't tracking for me currently. I have submitted a ticket to the Support void...
Same here. The mileage was always remaining at zero but now the scenarios have reset to 0 from 3 as well. Whole system is completely broken, if DTG can’t get it working reliably then they might as well scrap it.
Mine has updated Tier 1 this morning (at last), also Tier 2 is now open and showing updated progress.
So, my 'November Rain' is still stuck on 2 out of 3 complete, but earlier today I was somehow able to unlock Tier 2 by running a quick sandbox scenario and manually making it rain (via God Mode). I was then able to finish all the Tier 2 requirements, unlocking the Mastery poster, even though ‘November Rain’ is still stuck on 2 out of 3! Ticket updated.
Well done. Unless DTG Support work some magic in the next day or two, resigned myself to not getting this month done. Still stuck in Tier One on zero mileage.
Hi everyone, Well, I'm wondering if we're even talking about the same thing, because according to James, they have big ambitions regarding the monthly mastery ranking (at least as of the message dated 20/02/25!!!). However, as of today, 09/11/2025, it seems that things aren't improving much, quite the opposite. So what should we expect going forward, please? Because TSW6 seems to be showing us small flaws day by day, which nevertheless cause (in addition to those already well-known for some time now, see TSW5) major problems for players whose goal is precisely this mastery ranking, which is perfectly understandable!!! It feels like Christmas is coming. Best regards, tof
Now that I’ve unlocked Tier 2… Scenarios done via the usual save scumming the Sherman Hill free play one. However a bit stuck with the 3 part free roam one. As I posted in the other thread, do you launch this by using the top menu free roam picto button, or do you go into the route timetable to start on foot. Two attempts yesterday evening using the first method, which should have fulfilled the requirements, both failed to register. And how do you even exit free roam to get your distance walked and driven to show on a summary screen? It’s a bit consternating, this one.
I can't change the weather on any route on PS5. It's just greyed out and always clear. Is there a way to change it? I tried the photo mode thingy, but it doesn't change it. What are some timetables or scenarios that already have rain?
I done it like this went into NTP picked up a collectable. Then walked to the next station pick another collectible. Then spawned a class 47. Then drove for 9 miles. Then got out and out then exited the game to main menu. Done
Excellent. Think that's where I went wrong last night. By free roam they should maybe have made it clear it's the spawn on foot from the Timetable sub choices variety. Think I'll walk from Watford High Street to the Junction then spawn in some 1938 stock for a run to Wembley, after grabbing a collectible or two.
I only done NTP cause thats the only route where I have collectibles left. So saving them for monthly mastery.
I went into free roam and not the timetable one and it counted for me. Don't think it matters which way you do it as long as you're not using a timetabled train.
Ah, oh dear. Don't tell me my Mastery has fudged up again. I must be a jinx... Edit: Looks like it's time for another Support ticket. Doing a collectible, walking and then driving from Watford Jn to Wembley has still failed to show the objective to complete. That was spawning on foot into timetable.
I spawned into a timetable for BCC as it is a reasonably short route. Picked up a collectable on the way and then had a walk at the end for a mile or so and bingo, it registered
Hi folks - I've wanted to check back in with Mastery since OldVern flagged to me some initial issues earlier in the month (and likewise, with previous monthly challenges). It's fair to say it's not been the highest priority, but I'd like to address this. From what I can gather, would people here agree this is a fair summary? Challenges work completely fine for some; however, for others, they don't seem to track at all When following challenge descriptions exactly, sometimes the results aren't counted as progress (similar to #1, but possibly related to route/setting dependancies) Progress on mastery can take a long time to update Something that I think might be impacting the 1st/2nd listed issue here, is that not every single combination/route/setting allow for mastery progress to be made (For example, a specific route doesn't work when others would). I wonder if there's room for us to make it clear with our monthly posts if we have any specific recommendations/limitations? In truth, I think mastery is a fun system, but I can agree that if it's more "challenging" to get the system to even work, than to enjoy the fun of the challenges in the first place, then we're missing the mark. I'm grateful that some players seem to have few issues, but I'd like to make the experience more encompassing. Any further feedback/suggestions I'd welcome hearing them (I've not had time to review this full thread, so if there are some thoughts a few pages back, please feel free to re-post).
Thanks for responding Alex. Definitely 1 and 2 though I do seem particularly jinxed at present. The current free roam objective proving particularly frustrating as three attempts so far have failed to register. The Monthly is a good way to liven up the gameplay but needs to work reliably to be fun.
Likewise, this is a great response for feedback - Thanks for confirming too, let me bring this discussion to our DTL group as something for us to investigate and see if there are any blockers/reasons to why this may be continuing to happen regularly.
Today it seems to be syncing everything correctly. Yesterday, my mastery tracking was telling me I had completed all tiers for every route in the game already, even stuff I don't own!! I think it is purely cosmetic and I don't get the rewards for those, although I do get some random posters, which then appear in the sections for countries that have no relevance to them whatsoever.
Just sharing an update from our teams about why these issues come up, after checking in this morning. I'll also add in a few key workarounds you can support us with to help you, and a status of where we're at with improving this for the future. Firstly, there are a few known reasons why we tend to see issues with mastery currently, and it helps explain why some see issues, and why others may not. Duplicated Account Data In-game Event Reporting Mastery Challenge Setup Duplicated Account Data One of the primary areas we're looking to improve that we've been aware of with mastery is duplicate sources of Dovetail Live (DTL) data being attached to the same account. This can mean that whilst you complete a challenge, it may be attributed to one source of data on your account, but your game will still be registering an original source that isn't getting the updated data, and hence not registering the new information. What we don't currently know is why some users see duplicated data, and others do not. This could be linked to game platform/account age/setup, or other factors, but this is just speculation whilst we investigate further. Workarounds We currently have a manual process where we "merge" both of these data streams, so if you're able to provide our Support/Community teams with your Dovetail Live username/ID, we can take this action for you and hopefully help update your mastery challenge progress. Next Steps In future, we're currently looking at two improvements for this. The first would be correcting the issue so that multiple data sources are not created; however, this may take some time to develop/test and implement. Currently, we're discussing a second option that may look at automatically merging data streams regularly, but before adding this feature, we need to ensure this doesn't end up overloading our DTL systems with the volume of requests. Reporting and Challenge Setup The other listed areas we're looking at can be caused by incorrect mastery challenge setup (an example would be a certain route isn't correctly included on the list of approved events where expected), and we've also noticed that the in-game data reporting isn't always triggering as we'd expect (which can equally be determined by various specific issues relating to mastery challenge setup). Workarounds If you are noticing some mastery events are not working as expected, it would be great to let our teams know, via this thread or other communication channels, and provide any details possible about the route/loco/steps you took to try and complete the challenge. This should hopefully help us check and support that the challenges are set up as expected. Hopefully, you can appreciate some extra insight here. We're looking at supporting mastery as best as we can currently, but it's likely we won't have any major improvements to this system before the end of the year, so we'll continue to prioritise the workarounds provided above to support in the meantime. Any more updates, I'll aim to keep you updated here!
I can see how duplicate accounts could be an issue, with my main PC and sub on the PS5. However until yesterday morning I hadn’t fired up the PS5 version in over a month been playing purely on PC. And my first attempt to fulfil this particular sticky Free Roam objective (which also failed) wasn’t until this morning.
Useful to know, I believe the duplicated account data may not necessarily be related to which platform is being played, there could be other erroneous reasons this is happening. If our team need any community examples to support, I'll reach out for more investigation if you'd be willing. For now though, I'm sorry it's not necessarily better news, and that it's been a rocky system at times, but I do hope we can continue to keep supporting and improving this. I do appreciate you pushing through with each month regardless, hopefully we can keep looking at new rewards too
Also happy to provide any examples if needed. I've had to raise a support ticket for 7 out of this year's 11 monthly masteries, as they've had an element get stuck somewhere along the line. Each time this has been resolved by being 'unstuck' by support, no doubt by the manual methods you describe. I've only ever had the one account on the one platform (PC Steam). Prior to TSW6 launch, the tickets were being resolved after a couple of days, but my October and November tickets both took just over a week to be resolved - no doubt due to the increase in support needed by players following a launch, but it does mean that one feels one should try to attempt the masteries earlier in the month than later, in case of problems. One specific bit of feedback about November's mastery is the wording of "I'm Going On An Adventure" element of Tier 2. It specifically says "Free Roam session", but others are reporting it doesn't work in a Free Roam session, but does work in a timetable session when spawning on foot. I personally didn't try Free Roam after reading feedback on here, and it completed fine on an on-foot timetable session. So in future please make sure that the wording matches what's actually needed (or vice versa!). I actually quite like the idea of slightly more unusual requirements like this, than the usual 'x number of miles driven' or 'y number of scenarios' which can all be cheesed somehow, but the system does need to be able to cope with them.
