It seems like the inevitable is finally here. Sony will be discontinuing support for the PS4 sometime in spring next year. The shift to fully support 9th gen will be in full swing, but it’s not like DTG haven’t been phasing out 8th gen support subtly over the last 12+ months. I can’t imagine 8th gen players will be happy about this.
The PS4 was a good servant for many years, and it’s life was extended by Covid in my opinion. It was also the console I started my TSW journey on. But it is struggling nowadays and it’s time to move forward.
No, at least not when I transferred across in 2022. It treats the PS5 version as a new game and you start at level one unfortunatley. But you don’t have to rebuy the the game or DLC and the experience is much better even if newer routes have issues on Gen 9 too.
12 years is a very long lifespan for a console PS1 1994-2001 PS2 2000-2012 (tie) PS3 2006-2016 XBox 2001-2006 XBox 360 2006-2013
Does this mean if one wants to buy DLC for TSW5, one needs to do that sooner than latter? Please and thank you
The way I see it, the biggest problem will be that PS4 will also no longer be recieving updates from Sony after said date. But yes, you will need to own all games and DLC by the end of support otherwise you won’t be able to buy anything afterwards.
I feel like you'll still be able to buy stuff. I remember a couple years ago when they wanted to shut down the ps3 and Vita stores there was massive outcry and Sony relented. Buying stuff on Vita is still possible (albeit incredibly convoluted as you can't buy stuff with a card on it, only through funds on your ps account, and as you can't use a card on it, you have to add funds through playsations website, and then because they don't like to acknowledge it exists anymore, you have to go back to the vita to actually buy stuff. Oh and some stuff doesn't actually show on the vita store unless you manually search for it) If only xbox and nintendo listened to outcries about them shutting stores down...
