After years of playing on Xbox, I’m finally giving up and going over to PC.

I wondered if anybody would be kind enough to recommend a few graphics cards? I’d like to know what the ultimate option would be if possible but also, something that would do alright for a decent price?

I have 32GB RAM, a dedicated SSD that I’ll use just for TSW and an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 3.60ghz CPU.

I was looking at the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 but I’m not sure if this will be enough for me to reduce blurry textures due to lack on VRAM?

    Any advice greatly appreciated

RTX 5060Ti 16gb or RX9060 16gb. With less VRAM, buying video cards now is like throwing money out the window.

I think it's wise to switch if you want to get rid of it. On PC, "blurry textures" are never an issue that's purely a console-related problem. I'd say buy a graphics card based on your usage. Think carefully about what you want to do with it. Also, your CPU isn't very powerful, so a high-end GPU wouldn't make sense. A 5060 is a good match. If you go for a more expensive card, you'll need to upgrade your CPU, which costs a lot of money because you'd have to switch to AM5 meaning you'd need a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM.

why are you marking your text as bold?

I use a 12GB VRAM RTX 3060, game runs good enough with it and there's no low model or texture quality anywhere within a reasonable distance.

I bought an RTX 3060 12GB VRAM but getting a lot of FPS drops (and I’m only running it at max 30). It’s dropping a hell of a lot more than it did on console. Is there something I’m missing in the settings? This is unbearable tbh, the console edition runs smoother which surely can’t be right? I’m running it at 1080p, I’ve got ultra turned on as graphics preset but with shadows turned to low and textures to medium. Screen resolution turned down to 70%. It’s dropping out every 10 seconds or so

There’s nothing else running on my PC and nothing I don’t recognise in background tasks.

Is the video card even working properly?

If you've selected the Ultra setting, you should also set the clouds to a lower level.
And I wouldn't set the screen resolution in the game to less than 100.

I'm currently still using an RTX 3080 TI 10 GB, and with that, my TSW6 runs at 60 FPS.

I've bought a new graphics card, an RTX 5070 TI OC 16 GB.
But I haven't got round to installing it yet.

I would recommend the RTX 5070 TI 16GB.

I had a similar issue with the 3060. I used DX12 and it helps a lot.

I think this has helped a little. Just doing a run over Shap. It’s still dropping frames but I maybe need to readjust my expectations as the console version also does this of course. It does feel like it’s happening more in the PC version though, I must admit. Im gonna do a run on console after this and see how it compares.

And you should definitely install graphic tweaks from Jetwash

I have, alongside a couple of others. I honestly can’t believe how much better looking the game is with these small mods, and I really don’t want to go back to console but I’m desperate to get a handle on this FPS issue. The signal lights mod is incredible. Makes it much easier to play without HUD

VRAM doesn't help if GPU is weak. And 2060 is weak for nowadays gaming.

    It’s a 3060

The DX12 tip has helped quite a bit it it would seem anyway. I just did a run to Carlisle from Preston and it performed much better. Still a way to go with tweaks so appreciate any tips from people with experience and similar set ups.

Respectfully, can anyone who is here to just inadvertently brag about their own hardware/set up, be unkind and deliberately unhelpful - can you just not? It’s very tiring

Don't use Ultra as a starting preset, that'll be setting Sky Quality to Ultra which is a big performance hit. Use 100% screen resolution as previously mentioned.

Run the route from one end to the other to build up the shader cache, it'll be smoother on repeat runs. You can increase the shader cache size in Nvidia control panel if you've got the disk space.

very helpful thank you, I looked at that earlier (cache size) and was unsure. On the run I just did, I turned the sky setting down and it seemed to improve but that was a night run. Slowly but surely, it seems to be getting there

No reason not to, if you have the space. I've set mine to Unlimited.

Nobody is bragging but pointing out that it's a half decade old entry level card, obviously I'll struggle.
