So, checking out HeritageUnits.com, I noticed that one of the new CP Script locomotives CP 7010, was in Revelstoke,BC on October 21st so why not add both SD70ACU's to the game for the Canadian Passes route? Plus we could also throw in CP 3048 too.
Blacknred81, I think this is a great idea, especially like the geep. I love how the SD70ACU's combine the huge radiators of the 43MAC and an SD70ACe style cab.
Interesting, I didn't even know CN had heritage units. I bet these would work well with Canadian Mountain Passes.
On the Trains Magazine's article about these units, they stated "The other eight heritage locomotives will painted before the end of the year" (https://trn.trains.com/news/news-wi...n-pacific-releases-two-sd70acu-heritage-units). I like to see them wait to add these units until the other units are completed and sell them as one whole pack.
You bet I would too. Especially since Dovetail has the license. CP worked with SS on their AC44, so hopefully they would on this as well.
Not the ones that searchlight simulations has made and they are different from the ones that come with the route.
Here is a sneak peek at 5 of the new CP units... I bet they are released this upcoming Monday on Veterans Day (United States)/Remembrance Day (Canada).
So at least 5 of those other CP Locomotives are Military themed, here's a sneak peak CP put out today.
I'd like to add what I found on CP's other new locos as well. God bless http://trn.trains.com/news/news-wir...ls-paint-schemes-on-commemorative-locomotives
Me too. I'm American, but these are beautiful and the ACu shape is great. I really hope to see these one day.
When I first saw the picture of 7010 after it was posted, I was absolutely blown away! I have seen (in order), 8101 Central of Georgia; 8102 Pennsylvania RR; 8013 Norfolk & Western; 8114 Original Norfolk Southern; and 1065 Savannah & Atlanta. (the last two on the same day 30 minutes apart!)
Me too. It is spectacular. Wow, that's awesome! And two on the same day.... stuff of dreams. I saw all mine by sheer surprise. The only UP one I've seen, Rio Grande 1989, stopped us at a railroad crossing while running errands. My most recent one, Lehigh Valley, I saw after a crack shot, one-in-a-million chance, half-hour trackside trip on a holiday. God is good dude, because He's the only reason I saw them!
You're all lucky, I barley get a chance to see any Heritage locomotive here, usually if they come by, Im at work, or they are at night, lucky I have seen at least 4 this year, UP's Missouri Pacific, UP Chicago & North Western, and Amtrak's Heritage II's (Pulling an Amtrak California train) and most recently Amtraks Heritage IV (Which has been assigned to the Coast Starlight the past few weeks) Though at least I get to see some BNSF ex Warbonnets or Executive schemes on a more common basis as well as some foreign power, though one time I did see Canadian Pacific's EX Vancouver Olympic locomotive at BNSF's Calwa Yard.
Hey man, that's awsome what you caught. Four in one year is WAY better than I have ever done. What I didn't say is that it took me years to see one at all. I have been so close, so many times waiting hours to try to see one. I'm also a sucker for warbonnets and those are extremely rare in my area.
It took me 4-5 years to see all the units I've seen. I have also seen two Warbonnets and one BNSF SD70MAC in the Dark Green and Cream scheme. And I never knew one was coming until I saw it. I think that adds to the fun. Railfanning is like a box of chocolates, You never know what you're gonna get (paraphrasing Forrest Gump). I also see Amtrak's Phase III "Empire Service" units pretty regularly too.
Sweet catches, and you are exactly right about the element of surprise adding to the fun. I’ve always said that “it’s the thrill of the hunt” that makes railfanning so fun. I’ve had my most memorable trips running from spot to spot, not knowing what we would catch next. Added this to my personal list of the best quotes of all time. Perfectly said.
Welp now I really got to revoke my original statement, just saw my 5th Heritage unit of the year today, UP1996 sitting in Fresno. Guess it helps to have a UP yard close by.
Yeah it was nice to finally see it again, I remember seeing it years ago in the same yard, but this is the 1st time I've seen it since getting back into trains back in March, just wish I could get a pic of it with an actual camera and not a phone.
So interestingly enough, one of the Script locos CP7014, already made it to California https://www.heritageunits.com/locomotive/detail/CP7014
I'd be all for them but my only concern is that its just going to be a reskin of the units when in fact they shouldn't be,I've been on 7 different SD70ace's from UP,CSX,NS to BNSF and out of all these units small things in the cabs are different from one company to another besides NS which is totally different layout and setup in cab to where the stats screens monitors but the in game ACE's that we have already are all the same just reskinned WRONG ! DTG
The CP Heritage units are SD70ACU's rebuilt from SD90MAC's. So I too certainly hope it won't just be a repaint of the SD70ACe, or the UP SD90MAC with a modified nose. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_SD70ACU
