[pc Below Min Requirements] Blurry Textures After Today's Core Update?

[Please note, these issues appeared immediately after the November 13th update so I suspect they may be related, but I currently have no conclusive evidence and so posted this thread to see if others were affected too]

Anyone else or is it just me? It's nowhere near as bad as it is on consoles, but I've never had this before. Is this to be expected after the update, for example if routes are being told to "reset" their texture cache?

Ok the first one was taken on GWE about four seconds after loading the route, I'll forgive it, but the other three were taken at Euston after five minutes of pottering about. Texture quality is set to "Very high" although I usually have it on "Ultra". I'm on a laptop that's in no way a gaming machine, but I've always had satisfactory performance out of TSW5/6 using suitable graphics settings.

First, DTG, you upset console users by selling a version that was probably never tested on a console.

And now you've released patches, and this is supposed to be the result for PC users, or how do you actually imagine it?

Sorry, DTG, but this is simply not acceptable.
I'm slowly getting the feeling that DTG no longer has control over its own game.

If this continues with new DLCs for PC, then there's going to be a huge backlash.

 

Well so far I'm the only one reporting this issue, hence the poll to see if anyone else is seeing the same thing. I suspect it's related to the update, as my TSW was fine yesterday and this is what I was seeing immediately after it updated, but rather than jumping to conclusions I'd like to know if anyone else has the same issue (or even if they have no issues after the update, which is just as helpful). I've rebooted my PC and checked to see if I've had any Windows updates that might have been installed at the same time as the TSW update, but nothing to report there.

 

I have been playing it all evening on different routes, on a mid range PC and have had no issues like this.

 

I once saw this issue and it turned out to be my custom Engine.ini file. Have you got a custom ini file by any chance?

 

Have you actually seen this issue or are you just here to rant at DTG, sounds like the later to me.

 

Well they jumped in after one report and without seeing if there was a pattern, so I think that answers your question.

Sadly it’s seems to happen quite a lot here and is likely getting worse. I saw a video on YouTube today, did not watch it, “DTG wants TSW to fail but why there is still hope”. Possibly the worst example of DTG clickbait I’ve seen. I mean it’s so stupid it’s incredible but, if it gets you those all important views.

 

I never watch those "opinion pieces". I can make my own decisions.

Why a drama has to be created I don't know, well apart from views and maybe ego building.

It's a game not politics.

 

I'll pay more attention from now on, but from what I've played so far, I don't remember noticing any blurry textures

 

Not run into any myself, but I am on a pretty top of the line system.

Only issue I have noticed is how framerates around Hoboken have halved.

 

Nope, it's the standard .ini file. Strangely I've disabled the GodMode mod and that seems to have improved things somewhat, although I'm still seeing behaviour I wasn't getting before the update.

Might just be the game telling me to bite the bullet after Christmas and buy a new laptop with an RTX 4070 inside it..

I see a few people have replied to the poll to say they have the same issue but haven't commented, so don't know how much to read into it.

As mentioned in my initial post it's not a high-spec machine. I'm on an 11th-gen Core i7 with an Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics chip. As nobody else has replied explicitly stating they've seen a drop in performance following the update, I'm going to assume it's something that changed on my side at the same time (disk encryption, antivirus...) and continue looking. I'll be using Christmas as an excuse to upgrade to a proper gaming laptop anyway.

I believe disabling the GodMode mod seems to have made a bit of a difference, but I don't think it comes with massive overheads so that may be more of a placebo effect.

Yes, but as stated in my initial post I had no such issues before the update

 

PS5 and I'm getting blurry textures in places I didn't before.

 

Eh, I've seen issues like this kick in on several games for some people when their system was chewing heavily into virtual memory, and they'd recently filled more drive space with game updates...

To be clear, I'm not saying it's not something they changed causing it, just that your system probably was borderline on whether this would kick in to begin with, and something has pushed it over the edge.
