    Hi all, I just published updated versions of the TSW Starters Guide and TSW Tools. here:

    TSW Starters Guide is additional to the official game manuals.
    Route Guides available now:
    • Sandpatch,
    • GWE,

    TSWTools is a Toolkit with supporting functions for TSW Users. It is still very alpha state, but I took great care to avoid possibilities of damage.

    Features (version 0.51):

    - Configure all your game settings, including advanced settings
    - Backup of saved game data
    - Manage your downloaded livery .pak files and install them in game
    - Support for livery sets, create a set and install it during game launch
    - Installer for .pak files to install them from zip, 7z and rar archives directly
    - A game launcher, which allows to select settings easily.
    - Unpack and view game files
    - Screenshot viewer/manager
    - Viewer for default key bindings
    - Viewer for manuals

    Please be aware that virus scanners may complain the first few days. They don't like anything new.

    Thanks for taking the time to make an easy and intuitive way of customising TSW. Also thanks for the unpacker, making it a little bit easier to do might encourage a few more mods, although unfortunately we're still at DTG's whim for anything more advanced.

    Thank you. I just discovered the Livery manager is not working properly (from my development environment it works fine, but it closes TSWTools in producytion). I will need to find out what goes wrong ... Coming soon...

    I published a small update (v0.31 only installer update). There was an error in the installer. This is fixed now. The bug makes TSWTools crash if you open the Livery Manager.

    I just uploaded some updates:

    TSWTools version 0.4
    New features:
    - You now can work with livery sets you can easily install
    - An installer tool for .pak files directly from archives.
    - You can define Railway Radio Stations yourself
    - Screenshot manager is improved a bit
    - Some bugs fixed

    TSW Starters Guide version 1.1: small updates for new DLC and a new chapter on PZB.

    Hello and thank you very much for your tools, I am creator of (skin) for games like Euro Trucks Simulator 2, Farming Simulator, American Trucks Simulator, Fernbus etc. so on the game TSW I will have great needs of tools to continue to create textures for liveries etc .. and to understand the system of extension PAK which for now is totally unknown to me.. :)

    I update TSWTools to version 0.5. Some bugs are fixed and I implemented a technical change to make TSWTools behave better on smaller screens.

    This sounds great! But I'm having trouble finding the TSWtools manual it keeps mentioning. I'm probably just blind, but where the heck is it?

    Thank you for your feedback! See the screenprint below: at the right side you see buttons to what you need. When you first try to use TSWTools, it will ask you to set some locations and additional files. Once you have done so, you should see this screen:

    At the right side you see Help, just below it a button that will open the manual, provided you have installed some pdf reading tool. Let me know if this is working for you! May I should include some quick guide to get you started.

    NB Route Guides will be empty initially. Once you placed your guides, e.g. manuals, timetables and whatever you have here, you have a nice and easy access to all documentation.

    This thread is about a third party tool for PC rather than something built into the game.

    No, it will not run on consoles, only PC.

    There is a problem with installing it on a different disc drive, as C. I installed this on my second disc (D), but I couldn't run this.

    Why? Because just uninstall files were located on D, and rest of the package was installed on C (instead of D, where I pointed).

    Installing wizards making mess in operating system, maybe would be better to distribute this without installing? ;)

    Thanks for your comment. I use an installer because you need to create a number of additional directories to make it work properly. I will consider to provide both options or I will see if it is possible to have options like clean install and a limited install.

    Can you let me know the error message you got? Does it refuse to start, or can you open the launch screen? There is a button saying "View Log". There you export all available logging information. In the manual you can find my email address.

    Well, I uninstalled it already. The error was something like "executable not found"... On D drive (where I pointed) there was only 2 uninstall files, and all the rest in the default place at C in Program Files.

    It started by manually double clicking executable on C, but when I saw so many paths to localize I gave up. I'm too lazy for this. ;)

    OK, being lazy is good. I will see what I can do in the next version. Definitely some more work can be done to improve the installation procedure.

    Hi try to install this. But one thing in option "unreal unpacker tool" I cant find. "Unrealpak.exe"
    Have install whole Unreal from their site but the Unrealpak.exe I cant find anyway,

    It should be in Engine\Binaries\Win64.

    This i have there. I install the Epic Unreal today
    D:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Engine\Binaries\Win64
    CrashReportClient.exe
    EpicGamesLauncher.exe
    UnrealCEFSubProcess.exe
    UnrealEngineLauncher.exe
    UnrealVersionSelector.exe
    and a lot Dll files

    I have searched (in all files in Epic games) for it but it does not exist

    Epic launcher is not enough. You have to install Unreal engine. You will need version 4.16 to package content for TSW.

    It was not so easy to install this
    1: You have go to Unreal site https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/feed
    2: Do a login there and top and right download and I did and install I can choose mac or pc (Pc me)
    3: Install the files
    4: Open the program (Epic games launcher) and click on Unreal engine and choose install
    But i get version 4,22.3 I cant choose 4.16. But it should works anyway
    I download now and hopes this works

    Problems with to unpack. I have version 4,22.3 in Unreal Engine (can It be this. I have not 4.16)
    I try to unpack pak files. I see all 7 pieces *.pak (hidden core pak)
    I do unpack all dlc and it seems to work. But it goes so fast 5-10 seconds.
    Green box, and no error in results and error box
    Working 1----3 True and unpacking done.
    Press View unpacked files
    But in unpack folder in TSW Tools there are now 9 folders, but everyone is empty. Just folders

    Press the plus button next to engine version, select version 4.16 and press install.

    Thanks But I don't think this is the fault it´s not working.
    In the TSW tools manual he uses 4.21.

    I test anyway to install 4.16 and now its working different. Before i get working 1--5 true
    With 4,16 it will become Working 1-334 true (unpacking core) then unpacked. Took so much longer time now.
    So much more unpacked working numbers
    But the rest be the same. One folder was made, but it is anything in this folder (TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor.pak folder). (0 byte)

    Where do all the files go.
    It must be a bug in this program. I found the files. (searched through the entire hard drive)
    There was in D:\Program. (even the folder program i don't have before)
    There all files was but the folder (TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor.pak) was in D:\Program Files (x86)\TSWTools\Unpack

    As it looks like there were 2 bugs. Don´t use the newest Unreal engine and the files goes somewhere ells with unpacking

    I will check this and eventually fix it somehow. The output path for UnRealPak is hard coded in TSWTools and should use the folder structure pointing to the TSWTools Folder. Now I see here in the example, maybe the use of folders containing spaces is causing the issue. Probably this will be solved if I add quotes around the path. This is an easy fix, coming in the next version. Thanks for your feedback

    Ok first off thanks for the time in making this tool
    Ive been trying to unpack TSWs core files but no dice as of yet. It seems trying to get any clear guidance or a clear process on how to unpack the 'TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor.pak' and export files from it - is like trying to get blood out of a stone. I have searched all over the place and tried quite a few things, the above TSWtools, quick bms, U4pak and Umodel but All i seem to get are errors or empty folders no matter what I try. :(
    Does anyone know of a video or written step by step guide that might actually work?
    It seems the tools and method is out there - but instructions on actually how to do it is sketchy at best.
    2 years in to this games life and I'd have expected things to be more clear at this point.
    Any help would be appreciated

    If you want to use the hard way, you may read the TSW Starters Guide (it is included with TSWTools and you can easily open it from the tool). There a procedure to unpack.pak files is described. The next step would be tu open the UASSET files, but I did not yet find a way that actually works. Personally, I would be interested to get access to the time tables.

    Yeah -i managed to extract the.PAK in the end.
    but as you say, all the 3d and stuff is locked down (error on skeletal mesh in Umodel), only textures can be pulled from the UASSETs it seems, Shrug* well I guess DTG are entitled to protect their assets but i cant make new stuff with out a template to work to.
    Also the passengers files are -well abit of a mess (they are kind of scattered between the character directory and routes, bodies in one place, clothing in another).
    So yeah for now I must give up as its not worth the fight. -maybe something i can come back to one day.

    bad news ... No idea what is going on. When is this happening exactly? When you try to start TSWTools or when you try to unpack a .pak file? That function is not doing much more but starting a new thread and the run the unpack tool from that thread. I will improve this in the next version, but only the way the background thread is used. Does it happen only once or multiple times?

    When i start TWTools, and a freeze is something i don't really like to do again, and it could be my windows installation also, maybe a VB or DotNet affair? However i have no further crashes so far ... and usually there are no error logs with such a freeze up.

    Thanks for your reply. I do not use VB for development, but C#. It is unlikely that this causes the problems. Dotnet is fairly reliable and widely used code and I am not doing very fancy things, so it is unlikely to cause issues. I am aware of one issue that may cause crashes. I use a technology to manage the sizes of the windows, so they don't fall off the screen. This sometimes causes problems when minimizing the screen. Otherwise, your best chance is to wait for the next release.

    Can you edit the amount of trains you want running in game? like for example i only count 2 Ai trains during my entire route besides me .. Can i edit it to like 30 Ai trains on route to make Rail Traffic?

    I don't think you can. You would have to edit the .uasset data tables which is something that this tool can't do.

    You are not gonna be able to edit .uasset files and add how many trains you want to see on the route as all that stuff is cooked inside the timetable (each scenario got own timetable and service (timetable) mode got own timetable too). Even tutorial or Journey mode got own timetable. Without timetable, there is no train.

    Ohhhh Thank you for explaining.. I will wait and hope this editor comes out... Im just impatient but knowing that the game been out for a bit now and no editor scared me a little.
