As you may know the contemporary wcml routes are getting fresh 2025 timetables....

    NO 730!!!!

I know aabs have been busy but it would be nice for the 805 to be an 805 and 730 Gameplay pack.
It would make these new timetables complete.

    Leave your thoughts here!

I've been banging the drum for 730s since their introduction. I think aabs probably have enough on their plate right now without waiting for a 730 to be done before getting the 805 on sale. Are DTG UK working on anything on the roadmap at the moment?

I would anticipate DTG are making their shorter mid-cycle UK route for March at the moment but who knows maybe they're doing some traction this year instead.

    How exactly are you "protesting?"
Staging a march outside DTG offices?
    Not buying something?

and to add to that - when a DLC is released, we aren't obligated to buy it so protesting a DLC of this train or that train is beyond pointless

I get it, but if you are interested in something and don't buy it, then it's still a protest. It doesn't have to be "required" to be a protest. Just something you would buy so it's a lost sale.

The Bud Light and Disney boycotts for example only made a different because people already buying those things stopped.
Not sure it'd link the same with TSW though since you only buy the DLC once.
It's not like you're buying the same thing over and over to "stop buying it."
And since it's not the "same thing" to be a trend, they honestly wouldn't know if you stopped buying other DLC because not everyone likes all kinds of TSW DLC.

It was a bit tongue in cheek, but I was curious too how one would "protest" products that are so occasional.
It doesn't fit the traditional mold.
People outside the headquarters with "730" signs though would be amusing.

TBH I can't understand if the OP is protesting not to see the 730 in game or is protesting for it to be in TSW..

On a similar note, it amazes me how every summer players protest the next TSW game and yet it still sells. I gave up protesting the annual game annoucements since TSW5's confirmation because it was obvuous to me that DTG were not listening to their customer's annoyance but I also understand why they [DTG] still release a new TSW game every September even if it's identical to the last.

I would love to see the class 730; I think it would be the finishing touch to the 2025 timetable.

When you have any group, there are always some "for" and some "against" any course of action. As the leader you have to make a decision for the greatest good. The annual release works for marketing and sales and isn't actively harmful to the players. No one "loses" anything.
So, it makes sense. If the 80-90% don't care, that's still hundreds of upset people but if those people still end up buying it... were they really that upset?

I get there's a discomfort for some people over having to redownload their DLC once a year but sometimes people just want a reason to complain. Do they really care enough to change behavior? That's what has me curious about this OP. Is it really passionate enough to DO anything (for or against) a 730 in the game?

The LEAST they could do is a proper pitch for it as a detailed suggestion. I still have no idea what the 730 is or why it "MUST" be included in the game. All I've been able to gather so far from comments is that it's brand new and won't run on most of the routes in the game which are "too old"... so why bother? If the OP cared enough, wouldn't they go into detail on the 730, where it goes, why, what advantage there is to it, etc?

That's why I asked how serious their "protest" would be. I'm curious. But if they can't be bothered enough to even do a basic google search, then I don't see them standing outside in the winter outside DTG HQ with a sign =-)

That would make for a fun social event for the community anyway. Not this, but maybe something like a bunch of people (who live in the UK of course) all meet outside the offices and hold silly signs like "ANYTHING BUT ANOTHER CLASS 66!" or something like that. Some light jesting used as an excuse to have a meetup of forum members. Maybe the staff would even come out on smoke break and chat.

I know it's getting a bit off topic, but I'd like to see a less "adversarial" sort of tone around the game. It's a game. It's meant for fun. At the end we're all railfans of some sort or we wouldn't BE here. Even the devs. It's not like it's some massive corporation of thousands of people in a marble tower somewhere either. It's a few people in normal offices making a train game.

This is a 730. It's a brand new EMU that entered traffic in August this year. Both West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway have them and I really like them.

I believe the WMR sets have replaced the 323s and the LNR sets are replacing the 350s

Ngl, they look ugly. Although I said the same thing about the 80x series once.

The 36 x 5 car LNR Aventra sets are only replacing the 37 x 350/2s, they're the somewhat unpopular units with 3+2 seating. The rest of the Class 350 fleet is staying with LNR.

There are now fewer than 10 of the 350/2 left in service now, the ROSCO is considering converting them to battery units, Northern have also tested a unit on the Glossop line to assess whether a few of the withdrawn units could provide some much needed capacity on the Northern Electric lines until they can go ahead with phase 2 of their fleet replacement.

I still don’t get why you people want something that’s still massively brand new and doesn’t exactly add much to the driving experience

it just looks like a slightly different class 350

was thinking the exact same thing just looks the same as a 350

also what people forget it DTG can’t just make a train and release it. They need permission from the manufacture of the stock to create and release/charge for it ie a license.

Apart from having a gangway at the front there are a lot of differences between the 350 and 730 inside and out.
Performance-wise the 730 has better acceleration. They have 23m-long cars compared to 20m on the 350.
I don't think anyone is suggesting DTG should "just" release it. However, the manufacturer also made the Class 170, 171, 710, 375, 377, 378 and 387 so I can't see that being the problem. More a case that DTG might not get the LMR branding rights.

The orange units are the 730/0s, they are in 3 car formations and have a top speed of 90mph.
The green ones are 730/2s in 5 car formations (2 of these are the same length as 3 x 350s) and have a top speed of 110mph.
If this was to happen, I'd love both versions to be included so that they'd be of use on all 3 of the modern WCML routes.

It's the sort of loco pack I can see being developed at some point, same as the 700 pack. I'm sure I'd buy it, not going to 'protest' for it though.

Yeah, of all the good causes to protest about, a DLC for a computer game isn't even in the top 100.

Not to mention another train that brings with it a tiny letterbox view out the front of the cab.

Don't get me wrong I'd prefer it if we were talking about a need to have the 720s in TSW, with their wonderful big windscreen and central driving position, but that day hasn't arrived yet.
However, small windscreens are a feature of a lot of classic traction as well from Deltics to 1st gen Cross Country DMUs and Southern Region slam-door units. So I don't see it as a disqualifying factor when it comes to getting new traction into TSW.
