Head back to the West Coast Main Line to transport delicate Nuclear cargo in the latest Add-on by Skyhook Games - Out now!

Approximate release times: 1000 UTC PlayStation & Xbox, 1600 UTC Epic Games, 1800 UTC Steam

The gameplay in this Add-on simulates the movement of radioactive nuclear material up and down two stretches of the West Coast Main Line.

The role of these trains is simple; safely carry nuclear flasks between power stations and processing centres across the UK. This important task has made them a popular and rare catch for enthusiasts, and despite the reduction in nuclear power plants since the millennium, the trains are still seen in use to this day.

    BR Class 20/3 locomotive
    And FNA-D Flask Wagons
    [IMG]

The English Electric Type 1 / Class 20 locomotive, known to many as 'Choppers' (because of the distinctive engine sounds), first appeared in Train Sim World as a Loco Add-on for the Tees Valley Line, set in the early 1990s. Cargo Line Volume 5 introduces a new contemporary version, circa 2000.

Due to the volatile nature of their cargo, Nuclear trains are often operated with multiple locomotives at once. The modernised Class 20/3 was one such type of locomotive assigned to the role. Bookending the wagons between locos protects them against any direct impact, and additional diesel engines added contingency in case of a failure. Wherever possible, the Nuclear train must remain moving and is given high priority across the network.

Sandwiched between a pair of Class 20s is the FNA-D Nuclear Flask Wagon, new to Train Sim World.

Cargo Line Volume 5 adds Nuclear services and Scenarios to two stretches of the West Coast Main Line:

West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle
    • 3 Scenarios
    • 14 timetable services
    [IMG]

West Coast Main Line: London - Milton Keynes
    • 2 Scenarios
    • 4 timetable services
Plus seasonal layered services for Riviera Line (other Add-ons required).

    8th Generation Consoles
Please note that for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the spread of other trains running around has been reduced to provide acceptable performance. This reduction does not apply to PC, Xbox S/X or PlayStation 5 versions.

Train Sim World 6: Cargo Line Vol.5: Nuclear is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for £12.99/€15.99/$16.99

Transport more freight with the Cargo Line Collection!
If you're on Steam and you've yet to explore the other modes of freight and cargoes that are transported up and down the UK rail network, you can get all Volumes of Cargo Line in the Cargo Line Collection.

This bundle also includes Skyhook Games' Midland Main Line route Add-on.

Hi harry, thank you very much for all the infos, but what about the Riviera line services?

I refuse to buy packs like Preston-Carlisle, Mittenwaldbahn and Zwolle-Groningen at 40 CHF (38 GBP), so I wouldn’t probably buy this pack just for the four timetable services on London-Milton Keynes.

It was anticipated that this pack was going to bring content for the Riviera line as well, right?

Anyway, thank you in advance for all the infos.

I know it comes with some services for Riviera, but I'll try to get those details!

From what I see its one service using the Edinburgh Glasgow Class 66 (DRS) engineering DLC, and the Class 86 as it uses a MK2f BSO from Preston Carlisle, so unless you have those as DLC then you wont be able to play it.

Why bother if clearly you were never going to buy the pack? Utter waste of time!

It does have 4 services on the WCML South (each >60 mins) it has 14 on the WCML Preston to Carlisle (~30mins and a full run) and 2 services for the Riviera (>60mins) as well as scenarios for the first two

Not bad for a wagon pack imo

And they're not exactly short scenarios either - it's not the number of jobs but their length.

Give me a single 70min run as opposed to 6 10 min runs.

I think it's quite alright really, just did a run from Willesden to MK on the Choppers and found it quite agreeable with the only shame about the run being that it's in its own timetable and not the superb modded timetable which really brings the WCMLSouth to life (though completely understandable, hopefully the chaps behind Mod will update it accordingly).

I'm going to fire up the DeLorean and go Back To My Happy Place (not as much of a box office smash as BTTF) and have a run with the 47, quite frankly I'm very happy that there are an abundance of 80s era workings.

My one little gripe is that the 20s are so well modelled and the sounds are great, just there isn't much of an opportunity to use them. Surely they could have dropped on the odd railtour or two, heck I was personally on one which was 2x20/3s at one end and a 37 on the rear which ran from Crewe to Willesden before coming off and doing the scenic route to Ely. No doubt the Mazy Day Cornishman has been Chopper hauled on more than one occasion. Pity really :/

That said, the 20s are excellent and the wagon looks great too. Nice one on adding in other jobs too so the 66 hauled flasks on Rivera and the 1980s workings for Shap :)

How many services did you actually think it'd have considering its about nuclear waste?

What are the 2 Riviera services? Is there any dependent DLC you need to make it work?

Oh sorry, yeah you do also need the ScotRail Engineering Express Pack DLC (for the DRS class 66) and the Class 86 & Mk2F pack DLC (for the Mk2F coach)

Sorry, I should have also said that too

They're runs with a top/tail 66 with some flasks and a Mk2F 'army dooode' coach.

There is a seperate Cargo Line Nuclear timetable in WCMLoS. The nuclear ones have Nuclear in brackets in the description of the timetabled train. PC here but I guess it will be the same on console.

Thank you for asking me more clarifications, instead of completely and pre sumptuously assume my persona without enough bases.

However, even if English is my third language of four, i understand the word “nuclear” and I do realize “nuclear trains” do not run often.

Between WCML and Riviera line, I would appreciate to see at least around nine timetable Services (at least two on Riviera).

I would like to remember that the number of services in timetable mode doesn’t necessary reflect the number of daily services but could reflect as well various time options of services that could take place in different months across an entire year span.

Thank you for keeping this conversation civil, despite your attempted provocation. Feel free to share if you think that’s a reasonable amount of services, and if you want, to disagree. ;)

The WCMLOS layer is a bit strange though in my opinion because the wagons are out of era by about 20-30 years. But it's probably not an issue for many.

I wish there was just a bit more for the 20 to do because the 20 is absolutely fantastic and the wagons are great too!

It does seem odd, but it's nice to have the services and Shaps missing some shorter runs service variety for the locos, most of them are light engine runs.

The 4 services is a bit of a stickler for me, it's roughly the same amount of gameplay in hours and minutes but I can't shake the feeling that more than 4 would have fit.

Admittedly I know nothing about nuclear trains we don't have them round my parts

Surely Preston to Carlisle is the West Coast Mainline over Shap (WCMLoS) Sorry if I have misunderstood your initial question.

If I'm not mistaken, services with a nuclear carriage are labelled "Nuclear" in the timetable and are all operated by Class 47.

This is kind of the opposite issue that i have lol- since the wagons are anachronistic on Shap already, why not let us use the darn Class 20's with them there?!? Like that illusion is already shattered so can we actually have some fun with what we buy?

I've driven the Class 47 about 750,000 times at this point it's almost as tiresome as the Class 66 at this point lol

I've calmed down since i claimed it was a waste of money in the other thread, and i agree the loco and wagons are very well made- i just want more opportunities to use them in timetable mode- free roam isn't a proper substitute imo.

Same here, can't be arsed being farted about with separate timetables when it would of been better layering into the original.

I'll probably get it in a 50%+ sale
