Well, after you've spent all the money on the routes, you kinda want to be able to use them for more than 1 year.

A definite No, but DtG need to stop these annual new game releases. There are not enough code differences to justify a new game iteration and it seems to do more harm than good.

Once again, the discussion about EU 5 is no longer just speculation.
DTG has stated it (which is ultimately all that matters).

They haven’t stated anything to do with UE5 other than they’re making another game in it.

By your logic it also means TSC will be redone in UE5.

    Forget it.
If you don't want to understand, you don't have to.
    Have a good day.
I have other things to think about.

TSW runs on a modified version of UE 4.26 which DTG have stated many a time has been heavily changed to meet the needs of the game.

Changing to UE5 would need a brand new version of the game. You won't get the features of 5 with 4.26 content.

UE5 could also make the game "worse" as World Partition in UE5 is not designed for large world simulations.

You "could" (theoretically) release TSW7 as UE5 but you would not see any change to the historic content, the "upgrade" would only be seen for TSW7 and future content. Also you would have to "convert" each DLC to be UE5 "compatible" which would be an enourmous job.

For the amount of work it would take, the simplest (development) option would be to end TSW and start a brand new game (one could call it Train Sim Universe for instance) that would start from day 1 on UE5. This would likely see mass anger from customers and could backfire on DTG as customers refuse to buy it.

Simplest option would be to "port" 4.26 content into UE5, but it would be a HUGE job with little improvement to old content.
UE5 also would amost certainly mean older consoles would not be supported.

I'm sure DTG Matt will chime in, if i'm missing something.

[QUOTE="TSW6 is the perfect example: all the “new features” only work on the brand-new trains and routes. So why bother importing old DLC if they can’t use any of it? What’s the point?[/QUOTE]

I am really sorry that you have been put down so badly in some cases.

Unfortunately, there are some people who often write very poorly in their replies.
Please continue to ask your questions here in the forum and don't let this discourage you.

You're wondering why you should buy and install older DLCs at all.

The thing about older DLCs is that some of the new DLCs load layers from the old DLCs.

This means that newer DLCs also include freight wagons and locomotives from older DLCs, which brings more traffic.

No, but it would be cool if newer versions of locos replaced older ones like the latest Class 66 and JT Class 101.

    Horrible take.

This DLC from the past few years has largely been very poor; we don't need the few decent routes gone.

Nice idea. I can imagine how excited I would be to get the Riviera line for example, with just a voyager running on it.

It is annoying that you can buy a TSW 5 product or even an earlier TSW product from a previous version and it is available for TSW6. I bought TSW 6 Deluxe for Xbox as l had everything and TSW 6 Special version for Steam as l didn’t have Cardiff and Spoorlijn in TSW 5 and they only work in TSW6. Therefore to include them in TSW5, l have to buy them for a third time, it’s a ridiculous system. I would expect to buy a product like the two mentioned and it should be able to work in the games it was intended for!!!

it certainly is, now that the 166 is out of the picture that will make guard mode work perfectly on the San Bernardino line….

Buy something for TSW6, it'll only work with TSW6. A DLC may have been a TSW5 release, but if you buy it for TSW6 you get the TSW6 version of the TSW5 DLC.

Hence why anything bought for TSW6, even if it is an older DLC, will only work from TSW6 onwards.
