Tsw 6 - Expect the Unexpected Has definitely lived up to its tag line so far.. But Has anyone else noticed 'what' we've actually got since 6.. Just completly forget the obvious texture issues on Birmingham-Crewe for consoles..and the lack of communication since.. but are we not getting less and less every DLC for 6 so far? Birmingham-crewe - no working neutral sections.. (was a feature on 5), short route, Santa fe - half hearted at best.. poor models.. inaccurate equipment.. low res textures.. Nuclear CP - no train faults on the 20 (core feature for 6 dont forget, wanted or not) .. not much to actually do?! Pacer pack - cool.. who doesn't love a pacer.. but on a route that is not very highly regarded and wont layer anywhere else (if i read the article correct) -not looking to form a lynch mob here... just a few things I personally have noticed and feels like is becoming the trend for 6!! Thought it would be a good discussion..
Well, with the rising discontent concerning TSW6, an explanation from DTG's lead in customer relations is expected? Unless it is 'business as usual' and nobody cares about anything other than sales figures?
The experience is underwhelming so far... Only purchased one of the four add ons so far (Birmingham to Crewe) which can be okay but is not without issues which the devs and DTG have thrown up a wall of silence about. Whether or not I buy the Class 805 depends on the route getting its problems fixed first. Santa Fe - not interested in a bunch of poor quality reskins and I would rather drive Cajon in Run 8 anyway. Nuclear CP - just too limited in scope for the asking price and it does look as if there are issues with quality too. The JT Class 142 will no doubt be the best of the bunch but no point on the sawn off little runt of a route that CCN is. Even TSW6 is failing to live up to expectations. Riviera route is nice but set in a boring era with the 150 sounds getting worse every time they try to fix it. Morristown, boring. Dresden to Leipzig, boring. The new features like announcements and TSR's are buggy and lost the novelty value quickly. DTG and the 3P's need to seriously raise their game in terms of quality and desirability of forthcoming products to get my money in what's left of 2025 and ahead into '26.
I have to agree with this! Communication is THE best way to keep the community happy.. Im new to this fourm granted... but ive only ever seen 1 'community manager' who is actually 'in the trenches' trying their best to provide us all with information.. and see what the community actually want.. (The fact some people on here thought they were a Bot shows how common a community manager engaging actually was prior)
With the drum up to Black Friday sale booming and deep discount X-mas sales looming, we'll find out soon enough what DTG still has in stock to fill our mantel socks. I think I have enough of Germany's red or white trains already, HIS' entry into the US DLC I consider a failure, the continuing absence of steam locomotives or anything other than present day doesn't really entice me to spend more money on DTG full price DLC. Just Trains and TSG still have some credit with me, and I rather spend my money on these more caring developers. Looking at the greater picture of train simulations and train driving games, the market already seems spoiled. Progress on all commercially released game fronts is minimal and slow. Games or simulations that allow me to tinker and play my own game like RailRoader, Run8 and TSC still have my preference and it is mostly these games that keep my gaming time occupied.
This is pretty much word for word how I feel about the situation!... I just dont word too good!! Completely forgot about the 3 core routes and there issues.. ive been playing Brighton-London (and more of the older stuff) alot recently and wondering where it all went wrong.. That route has SO much traffic.. no texture issues.. no stutters.. yes it shows its age slightly.. but it all works!!
If you're talking about Steam, the next big sale starts December 18. Happy Thanksgiving but you won't find a Black Friday Sale this year
It definetely hasnt been that great to release Birmingham Crewe in the state it was in was absolutely appalling then we were promised fixes quickly to it only for it to be delayed constant pushing out dlc when the game is in a bad state especially blurry textures and stuttering that should be the main focus before releasing dlc its insulting imo
Yes, I think they are really testing the loyalty of a lot of their customer base to the limit. Luckily for them, people like trains and there is not that much competition on console.
SimRail is entering the console market soon. But will the Polish prototype catch the attention and win the loyalty of the console player?
The thing with TSW, is that they do a lot well. It's just a shame that they leave bugs and other issues for years that they could easily fix, which makes you feel like they are taking the piss out of you once they get your money.
Well we don't know for sure, but when I've looked at the server numbers lately, other than the main Polish one they are down to very small numbers. The console market will IMHO likely suffer even more from the devs lack of commitment to the SP game and providing a decent save game.
Can I make a shout for JT's CL86 add-on in this thread? I know it is for TSW5 but, on the one hand, they finally gave us a Mk1 Buffet but then, on the other hand, muddled up the file naming convention for it which means that we can't make liveries for it. (Well you can make a livery but you cannot apply it to the model in game as it is named incorrectly). DTG and JT both know about this but haven't corrected it which, considering they charged top dollar for the add-on, is outrageous. There is also complete radio silence on this which is very disappointing and, TBH, surprising of JT's part.
Replying to both these in one as they are a similar subject.. Definitely agree on both points.. ive been playing through some of the old routes, Boston, London Commutor, SEHS ect.. and some of the outrageously obvious bugs that remain to this day astound me! Ive heard the legend of the 'preservation team'.. way before my involvement in TSW.. but surely its time to bring this back?! DTG's entire business model revolves around DLC.. I dont understand how "preserving".. (to me preserving means fixing bugs and bringing each DLC to a standard before implementing newer features into routes).. should be quite high up the priority tree.. .. if the rumours that "metro kart rivalry races" are DTGs experiment with UE5 are anything to go by.. the time when all our DLC becomes "stuck on the old engine" is getting closer and closer granted it wont be tomorrow but its coming.. surely the priority is having the "Complete TSW Collection" fully bug free and in a uniform state for when that day comes? Anyway I went off on a tangent.. Hopefully something changes soon!
I mean, the Trainz Xbox entry hasn't drummed up much noise since it released, so Im not sure if Simrail will do any better.
Morristown is the only route I play, and even then, I’m barely touching it. TSW 6 is starting to make me mad with all of the glaring issue with textures and the random faults. I really wanted to get Birmingham to Crewe after buying London - Milton Keynes and having an overall decent experience but since I play on Xbox, there was tons of bugs that put me off. Was excited for the Santa Fe pack but High Iron is gonna High Iron. Only thing I’ve got my eye on in the future is New York - Stamford.
Appreciate your constructive feedback... Was more lets discuss the obvious downturn in quality since 6.. with examples to back.. But if thats deemed as "another moan thread" so be it.. People have every right to complain, moan, be unsatisfied.. doing it respectfully in the appropriate space doesn't seem like a bad thing to me... god forbid a company making mistake after mistake be held accountable on their own Fourm! The horror!!
In addition I don’t think they have fixed the misaligned wheels/axlebox/bogie issue on the Class 86, or for that matter the slightly wrong magnolia shade on the Mark 2F interiors which also turns blue in certain lighting conditions. As you say, complete radio silence despite wanting to sell us the Pacer for the Cardiff micro route and presumably early next year, Preston to Crewe.
