York would be a really good train route and I would have the 220 doing services to York and use Class 170 from fife circle line

why is the thread titled york to doncaster? That's 20 minutes of field and 0 intermediate stations.
And why the 170? No 170s run between the two, much less a scotrail one. (minus that one i did see leave up that way from doncaster works the other week)

Ok why? I mean, I would love to see York in TSW but not like this but more like:
    - York - Scarborough & Hull
    - York - Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (including the Bishop Auckland Branch)

    - Sheffield - York via Leeds

This suggestion would more likely happen as an extension of current ECML route then it's own route

    What a nonsense suggestion.

Literally no one would want to buy this standalone.

The section of ECML we have is moderately interesting to drive, but Doncaster to York is just about the most boring stretch of railway in the UK. Even Peterborough to Ely would be more interesting.

    York - Newcastle then?

And Newcastle - Edinburgh, the final stretch of ECML, in another DLC.

And perhaps even going north into Scotland, by Dundee, direction Aberdeen and further?

I wouldn't object to it, if it was an extension of the current ECML.

Newcastle to York or Edinburgh to Newcastle would be a better suggestion for a standalone route.

If this was a full price DLC rather than an add-on to the existing ECML route, it would have to offer something other than a 20 mile extension.
A good alternative would be to have the Doncaster to Darlington, with the branch from Northallerton to Middlesbrough or a mainline that goes up to Newcastle with new traction being the class 91/Mk4s/DVT set just before they were restricted to the southern end of the mainline. The Class 91 is desperately needed for ECML, as is more of the ECML to rectify the severe east/west coast imbalance in TSW.

It would also be a good time to update the Tees Valley route to TOD4 and provide route hopping.

I think if anything up towards Newcastle would be the way to go. Then it can connect across country with Carlisle. In passing it would link to Tees Valley at Darlington. I suggested it could be the second extension in a Just Trains expansion that first did Carlisle to Newcastle.
That would connect the WCML and ECML.
Alternately, I guess it could be an ECML addition from someone else in modern.
Point is Newcastle makes a logical hub station.
No clue what runs on it though.

Agree with other comments. Unfortunately DON as an end point for the TSW ECML route leaves it in a bit of an odd situation. Really the next ECML thing needs to be an extension of the existing route to YRK. From there, you could do YRK->NCL, NCL->EDB and eventually KGX->PBO.

Splitting it into bits like DON->YRK would just be immersion breaking through too much use of route hopping.

Doncaster to York isn't even a 30 minute run, Doncaster to Darlington as a example is probably more realistic in tsw. But that will bring why wasn't Newcastle in the route like Peterborough Doncaster had players saying why wasn't york included

Indeed. It has to be either an extension of the existing route to York, or if it's an other route, then better go beyond.
It's an akward situation : people that will purchase the new route will have southbound services terminating at Doncaster...
That problem will only be sorted once there is a fonction to jump directly from one route to the adjacent one ("in cab route hopping" :D).

The absence of York in the game is extremely surprising to me

The journey from York to Doncaster takes only 21 minutes, which is far too short and offers far too little to experience.
It would be disappointing if this route were included.
I won't be purchasing this route in TSW either.

I think Doncaster to Newcastle would be feasible.

There is also at least 1 LNER train that operates Doncaster to Newcastle as its whole route, so could get a full run in xD
