I know there's an ignore button, but frankly I'd like to be able to straight up block individuals so that they straight up can't interact with my forum posts at all...
That's not how a forum works. Being able to gatekeep people from threads you create goes against the whole idea of an open discussion. If someone you've chosen to ignore posts something that's against the rules, the moderators will remove them themselves.
Since coming here I've made three threads, and this is one of them, and one was just intended to be a rant anyway
I'm saying I barely make threads, so your "goes against the idea of a forum" doesn't really matter that much if don't make threads
The problem is, the ignore button doesn’t completely block what the person is saying, or it appears as “Message posted by person you are ignoring”, or similar if they post in another thread or are quoted in that thread. TBH I don’t think I have anyone on my ignore list at present, have only ever used it as a “sin bin” type feature if some on is being annoying or trying to engage in a barrack room lawyer tit for tat posting soiree.
Every thread is posted under the same set of rules. It applies to every post as well. If somebody you ignore was not able to see what you've posted, it would break the flow of the thread. And if somebody you ignore can't reply to something you post, it's unfairly stopping them from engaging in the discussion.
No, it doesn't. You chose to ignore that person, but nobody chooses to be blocked. If they have posts removed without their knowledge then it would break their interpretation of the thread.
