Loco Santa Fe On Cajon Pass Feedback Thread

    So, yup, can confirm turning on the alerter in the SD40-2 triggers an unrecoverable loss of loco power. Even a physics reset wouldn't fix it for me (unlike in the Dash 8). Pretty shocking bug imo.

    Platform PC/Steam, Service Mode, East Oro Turn (Part 1). Was able to replicate on a repeated attempt.

    Seems like apart from the sloppy modeling, HIS's subcontractor DTM doesn't have a grasp at the proper scripting of complex locomotive interaction with safety systems which were not present in the always quite simple TSC locomotives from his hand.

    The wagons have crappy wheel blurriness this should not being happening on new dlc.

    So driving a sd40 done the 1st part of the yard move . Accidentally pressed emergency brake now cannot get it to move tried everything just a dead weight now. Also when using the UPs sd40-2 how do turn on atc and acses keeps telling me too but can only switch on the alerter.

    Maybe try a physics reset? See my note above wrt to the alerter.

    There is no ATC for this route/loco, only the alerter.

    IRL they use PTC, which isn't modeled in TSW yet (if ever).

    I dont think PTC was mandatory or in use for the UP SD40-2, since its spec'd to late 90's to early 2000's. PTC wasn't really considered till the 2010's.

    I seem to be enjoying this pack more than others, but it is plagued by a long standing core issue:

    When switching between a front train camera and rear train camera on a train with a long formation, you are presented with a loading screen before the camera switches. The problem is the loading screen can become stuck, with no way to return to the game other than force closing the application and loading a save. It happens way too frequently when switching cameras and is very frustrating since the game is so slow to start back up with all the DLC!

    Just here to say I bought every US freight module except this one... I know I'm going to sound dramatic but I feel that this module is an abuse of NA Railfan trust. There's so little NA freight content (by comparison anyway) that many might buy it without looking into it. The fact that it took a year and a half or so notwithstanding it's unfortunate they have so little respect for TSW enthusiasts and of course DTG is culpable as well. There's no standards. There's little if any QC.

    It's too bad since at a glance it "looks" okay but the stuff that made it through simply isn't acceptable and TSW fans need to start expecting more.

    I was cautiously excited for this pack given my interest in NA railroading, but a look at the Dash 8 was enough to persuade me to stay away. A repainted loco should at least be modified to represent the prototype. Shame, I would have loved a proper Santa Fe pack.

    You're a funny guy. Mostly kidding. Mostly.

    On a serious note... if they smash out an early set of bug fixes and clean up some of their doo doo then I'd be okay giving them the benefit of the doubt. All of it (for me) is going to revolve entirely how they manage the real shoddy work they put into this after a year and a half. Clearly more enthusiastic about pinching out a lazy payday than they are about trains. I'm going to call them "High Ironic" from now on.

    Why do almost all trains only have locos at the front and no helpers at the rear. In the normal timetable almost all trains have helpers at the rear.

    Depends on the train's weight. This rule applies to both timetables.

    IIRC, the timetable has helper moves closer to the pass, so some trains may not have them attached until you are closer to the pass itself.

    This was still in the era of manned helpers so those crews would be based in areas where they were needed, and their locos wouldnt be on a train on flat ground where they needed no help. (Like between Victorville and Barstow.)

    I can't find the thread where you wrote about the SD40-2 in the UP livery only awarding 35 points. I tried the Cane Creek version. It's worth 65 points.

    Yes. In fact, we have two versions of the SD40 in the UP livery. And it doesn't accelerate with a heavy train like a sports car.

    Do you have to have cane creek and sherman hill for it show i just deleted sherman and installed cane . But did not show on the santa fe timetable. Im on xbox so cant use mods

    I can't say, I have both add-ons installed. I can try disabling the Sherman Hill layer.

    No difference. The Cane Creek locomotive is still available. Perhaps less AI traffic.

    UP coal unit train Part 2/3. I seriously doubt the EOTD should be at the front of the train. Attempts to make it at the rear by uncoupling and recoupling locomotives at the rear of the train have failed. It's still at the front. A minor detail like the lack of texture on the headlights and lights when turned on (they are turned on in the screenshot) is a minor detail altogether.

    Thank you to the team for listening to the criticism.
    It should have been like this from the start, but you made the right decision to correct your mistakes, and that is a very respectable choice.
    If this update is a success, it will be a pleasure to return to the SanteFe locomotives and for the DLC to finally get the attention it deserves.
