Anyone on the PS5 going to be buying MSFS 2024?.

I have finished beta testing it on the PS5 standard. I was absolutely gobsmacked on how well it plays, most of the time buttery smooth, even over London NYC Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Vegas, Washington, and San Francisco.

I can't wait for the VR2 support for this (DTG can we have TSW VR please)

The difference in performance between PS5 and Pro is very marginal, but I had 3 system game crashes during the beta, but they quickly ironed out the bugs.

I used to own MSFS 2020 on the PC, but the PS5 version of 2024 just blows it out of the water. So for those thinking of buying it on the PS5, I 100% recommend you do, especially on the PS5...It is brilliant!

Thank you for the information provided. It's great that PS5 can handle Msfs 24 in terms of performance. I will definitely buy it.

I do know some people who have been using the PS5 beta, and also using the Xbox and PC versions, and they are saying that they do prefer the PS5 version, because it is optimised especially for the PS5...which goes to show how good the Sony OS is, I have already pre-ordered the Aviator Edition, I actually managed to get 100 hours out of the beta, but now that's finished I have to wait a week, but so looking forward to playing it.

How much disk space will it take up? Whether I get it or not may well depend on that. TSW DLC is very hungry for disk space so not much wiggle room for the future.

About 40GB. But then there will be a rolling cache for when the scenery data is downloaded, you can delete that when you wish.

Hope they do a better job of that than MSFS 2020 where any time the rolling cache fills up, the game starts stuttering worse than TSW ever has. I ended up having to disable it altogether to get back to smooth 120fps performance with no hitching.

I had MSFS 2020 on the PC, and the PS5 version of 2024 just leaves it for dust, and that's even on a standard PS5, Sony have their own OS so there will be less issues unlike on a PC, you only have 2 PS5 versions, but you have millions of different configs of PC. The different between the PS5 and Pro is very marginal, load times, graphics, everything is very very close, as well as performance

I have a 16 core CPU and an RTX 4090 with more VRAM just on the graphics card than the PS5 has in total, and twice that in system RAM, so I don't imagine my system would remotely break a sweat running it maxed out.

My issue with performance was entirely about the bugs with the rolling cache in 2020 where it being turned on eventually (When it fills completely, in my case whenever it hit 128/128GB assigned to it on my SN850X drive for maximum performance, which took about 2 days of on and off play each time) causes the game to become entirely unplayable until it's disabled, and wondering if that has been addressed, since they never fixed it in 2020.

I had been holding off on buying the PC version for the last year, given a bunch of the issues the launch version had. But hopefully if the PS5 version has ironed some of those out, there'll be matching PC and XBox patches coming alongside its launch, to help out with that. I'm definitely interested, since I have plenty flight time in its predecessor.

Also - on the base install being 40GB - I am interested to see what it looks like once a bit more content is added, because my MSFS2020 install sits at around 250GB, the second largest game on my drive after TSW, and that's just with the basic world update patches and after I stripped out and uninstalled all the bush flights, discovery tours, and suchlike...

Install with everything will be about 35GB in total, then streaming data will be downloaded to the PS5 internal drive, which can be deleted after a day, But I have been using the beta version so that may change, but like I said, it plays very well indeed, and the graphics are very very good, and the frame rate is very very good too, but it will get even better after Sim Update 4 which will be released when the PS5 version comes out. Then there will be the VR2 option in 2026, Im so looking forward to that.

One advantage on PC is that I already have that in 2020. But definitely glad to see more quality VR titles get console support for it.

Sounds good. If I do get it I will be getting the smallest bundle as I’m not particularly bothered about having the most content and I won’t be spending any money on DLC or loads of hardware controllers. It’s for a casual experience and I won’t be taking it as seriously as I take TSW, so no recreating long haul passenger flights. I just want to fly some planes around over interesting places and get to grips with taking off and landing. It all looks a bit daunting as I’ve never had a flight sim before but I’m sure I can learn how to fly well enough for my needs. I’ll definitely need all the helpers to start with and then learn as I go. It’s looking more and more likely that I will give it a try though.
