Well my birth age is 61 officially a old git I have been informed by my 30 somthing kids, thats age not meaning i have over 30 kids its there ages, most days I feel 81, my mental age is probably late teens but can venture into somewhat childish behaviour humour wise.

    I. 81 now (b1944) started at the start of MSTS 2001. Started creating routes in 2005 ish, took me 6 years to do South Devon Banks, 10years all told on Bromsgrove/ Derby/ Ambergate/ Manchester/ Sheffield. Still fiddle a bit with it now.

22 here, started with msts when I was 5. Played a little bit of trainz 2006 when I was 6 or 7. Then when I got to about 10 or 11 I played the heck out of TSC. Started playing TSW when it came out on Xbox. (Right when I ended middle school in '17) still play tsw and dabbled with TSC on and off ever since. Been into trains since I was born and aim to be an engineer later in life.

Too rapidly approaching 80. First computer was university mainframe learning Fortran and punching endless cards. First sort of a PC was a Commodore 128. First flight sim was Sublogic's FSII in the mid-80s. Started with MSTS when it first came out and worked for a virtual railroad. Great fun. Still play TS Classic, mostly for its freight operations. Play stand alone RPGs and MMORPGs. All this keeps the brain cells active and the 15 year old in me busy.

Initially I didn't think this thread would be interesting, but I'm warmed by the large age spread of the community. I'm especially encouraged by the number of senior citizens. For some reason I've been under the impression that most players were youthful ( not necessarily a bad thing ) but there are, apparently, a lot of 60+ players, and quite a few in their 70's and 80's, which makes me feel more at home. ;)

On the contrary, I didn't realise how many were actually a lot older than me.

Only around 6 people who have commented so far are younger than me, and some aren't that much older.

It would be interesting to add a (anonymous?) poll to the thread.

I seem to be a representative of the younger generation I am 29 years old - hello to the older generation and take care of your health)

    P. S. I've been playing TSW since the release - from March 16, 2017

    Hello i’m Jamie.
I’m 39, going on 40 next year… dum, dum, dum.
First simulator I started with was TS back in 2014. I didn’t play it for long as my PC was an ancient relic back then so I abandoned TS.
Flash forward to 2018 I see TSW announced on the PSN store :)
Also I started my TSC collection roughly 18 months ago, after finally taking the plunge to buy a decent gaming PC.

Other sims I enjoy and play:
    Microsoft flight simulator 2024
    ETS2
    Seafarer: The ship sim
    The Bus

67 year old here. First train experience would be when I was about 5 years old. I got a tin plate clockwork (in apple green) train. It had a couple of coaches and ran on an oval track. I loved it!

Well, I'm the OP and this thread has gone a lot farther than I expected, too. Interesting that the age spread is all over the place. Should give DTG some things to consider down the road.

66 years on the planet here. Been with railway sims from the days of text based games on the Spectrum.
One of the first in UK on MSTS as I managed to obtain the USA version on release (GM Diesels on the box) rather than the slightly later UK release.

It’s quite demanding even with a medium to high end set up that’s for sure, and my set up can just about run it. It’s very taxing on the fps and I don’t get good frame rate at all. It’s early access though, so it’s expected. Hopefully some better optimisation and improvements are added by early next year.

    A spritely 109 here.

I'm left with the vision of a cloudy eyed Thai dog, play on a 60 inch TV at 640x480 so each pixel is bigger and I still eat spam I was issued in '43.

My fingers haven't pointed in the same direction for the last 27 years so when pzb goes off I'm like slender man breakdancing on the keyboard. I have been typing this post for 4.7 days.

I'd like more steam as I almost remember when they was brand new. I'm off for a nap

I'm 62 and the perfect match for TSW because I too seem to get more and more broken as the number gets bigger;)

    Rush Hour...in my dreams.
    Random faults....correct.
Low LOD distances & blurry textures...all the time without my glasses,
    Memory leaks...yup.
Urgent core update....need to get my eyes & knees sorted.

Don't forget the ability to understand the hidden language of ageing, we now know a low grunt while standing from sitting means knee problems, a hissing sound while standing means back problems, and the ultimate long content sigh of sitting while the effects of gravity disappear from worn joints :)
