So yes 'another moaning post' sorry!! But correct me if im wrong.. Tsw 6 was hyped up on bringing the 3 new core features So far we've had 4 DLC 1 of them contains all 3 new core features (the one that is borked on console) So have the other 3 DLC been forgotten about.. Yes they all are 'loco' packs on old routes.. But in my mind.. they are only avaliable for TSW6..cant buy them on 5.. so should contain TSW6 features.. (ie train faults.. liked or disliked) Or are we just selling delayed TSW5 add ons crossing out the 5 adding a 6 and Making out its brand new and wondering why they wont play nice with 6?! So my ultimate question is.. When will we start seeing ACTUAL TSW6 content with all the bells and whistles that were so hyped up during the build up too 6?
The pacer pack was handed to DTG back in June according to Tom but has to wait for it's turn in testing etc. I believe the 20 pack was also a similar story?
But was it developed for 6? Or 5? (Not pointing blame at the 3rd parties, rather DTG maybe saying an earlier release date then it actually ends up being or something else internal) Just seems like everything in the era of 6 so far (excluding the 3 core routes) has been TSW5 content.. Brum-crewe being a perfect example in my mind.. are all the issues due to this route being developed for 5.. then quickly rushed over too 6 and "core features" thrown on top.. Just a brain fart I had that i thought id share in here is all!
The problem is we're at that stage where DLC developed originally for TSW5 ended up taking longer than expected to be ready for release, thus was instead released for TSW6. The Sprinter timetable for Fife Circle is a fine example of that - DTG had it since March and only released it a couple of weeks ago.
If we ignore the route because it shouldnt have been released when it was either way... Reasonably the 3 Loco packs should have been marketed and sold as TSW5 products? They have 0 TSW6 features.. so how are they TSW6 products? The pacer has the manual announcements like we had in Blackpool branches (a tsw5 add on) That's about it.. That's the bit im confused about.. Its either TSW6 content that has TSW6 functionality.. Or its TSW5 content.. with 5 scribbled out.. with TSW5 functionality.. And in that case should it not be listed as "made for a previous version.. tsw5" Like every other outdated bit if DLC..
They're TSW6 products because they released for TSW6, with the caveat that because they were originally for TSW5, they do not have TSW6 exclusive features. It'd be pretty weird and actually misleading to sell them as TSW5 products when they can't even be used with it.
Surely it would make more sense to sell them as TSW5 products (because we've established thats what they are).. that work on both 5 and 6.. until there is actually some TSW6 content? That's my main gripe here.. 75% of the TSW6 dlc is actually delayed TSW5 content.. The other 25% isnt cooked yet.. (possibly because its TSW5 content that was rushed on to 6's core) So when do we expect to see the first genuine TSW6 DLC?
Lets create a new version and hype up all the new features it has, get everyone to upgrade.. ..Then not use any of said features in ¾ of the dlc released in the games 1st 'financial quarter' Im not saying they should be available on 5.. Im saying why has 6 been released when clearly there is no content for it? The content we are getting is all tsw5 stuff so why do we have 6 at all yet? Again id just like to know when exactly does TSW6 start getting TSW6 content released for it?
'Back in the day' we were all told that if you released for TSW version X then you needed to support all the features of that version. As far as we're aware, this is still the case
The new content released so far since TSW6 has released is TSW6 content by the nature of what game it is released for. It isn’t TSW5 content. It is all third party content so far, which is the main reason it may not have all the TSW6 features. Third party DLC features will vary because of the often long and slow nature of development and the timing of when the new features became available for third party developers to add to their content. Third party developers may not have had the new features available to them or the documentation on how to incorporate them early enough in the development of their content or have the resources to add the features once DTG have finalised them, so some content may release without all the new features, especially those first few DLC to release in a new iteration of the game (as we have seen). New content developed by DTG themselves should get the new features, as they develop content more quickly and will likely have had the new features in mind throughout development like with the core bundle routes, but that’s never been fully guaranteed especially if a DLC was originally supposed to release for a previous TSW but got held back for any reason. It takes a long time for all features to become standard.
No because that would be false advertising. You can't release a DLC in TSW6 and advertise it as a TSW5 one (even if it was originally developed for TSW5) when it will only work with TSW6.
So it IS TSW6 content..BUT its also held back previous TSW5 content! Makes perfect sense that!... I wonder why im confused!
Look at my reply to iron bladder.. Your missing the point.. (Maybe im not putting the point across very well..) Its not about making them avaliable on 5... far from it.. Its about TSW6 being given TSW6 content! Tsw6 launched in September Its now December (give or take) Tsw6 has had 0 (tsw6)DLC .. to be fair TSW6 has seen pretty much 0 patches either.. So why did DTG make a song and dance about tsw6's new features..how wonderful they all are.. that we've all paid money to upgrade too.. yet ARE NOT BEING USED!! Again raising my initial point WHEN WILL TSW6 GET SOME ACTUAL TSW6 CONTENT? Poor annology time... If I subscribe to a magazine I want this week's issue not last week pages in this weeks covers.. but its ok cus we didnt have time to get this out last week.. so we made it new.. see..
What money did you pay to upgrade and why? I upgraded from TSW5 to TSW6 for free which feels value for money given the difference between the 2 and that at least 1/3 of the new features are so broken most people have turned them off? that said I do feel that every release should be mandated to include core features, but if a 3rd party dlc release date was pushed back from a TSW5 to TSW6 release date solely due to DTG delays getting it through QA then they should be footing the bill for the upgrade to the (new) standard specs as it shouldn’t be down the likes of JT/Skyhook etc to have to rework previously completed software just because DTG QA team are either chronically short staffed or have a backlog, the 3rd party has already had to deal with the loss of months of income from their endeavours. At some point companies are going to decide that with QA delays and the impact it has on their cash flow it’s just not economically viable to continue to produce content and then we all lose. Any and all DTG released DLC should come with all features as standard and that should go without needing to be said but clearly given the history of releases this isn’t always the case and in my eyes inexcusable.
I paid to get the new routes... but yeah I see what your saying here.. the "core upgrade" was free i paid for the routes... (that still need significant bug fixing.. but off topic) Im glad at least one other person is getting what im trying to say though!! If I download SEHS for tsw6 it says in big bold letters... MADE FOR AN OLDER VERSION SOME FEATURES MAY NOT BE PRESENT (paraphrase from memory) Surely the last 3 DLC should have the same caviet on the marketplace.. because where is the Tsw6 functionality? Also fully agree with the last part.. at some point the 3rd parties will have enough of Their reputation being hurt by DTG Im pretty sure i saw the Class 20 dev say a patch completed but DTGs backlog means it wont be out this year.. Why I always try and give the 3rd party devs the benefit of doubt, because DTG are the ones pulling the strings..
Everything released for TSW6 is TSW6 content. It doesn't matter whether or not they have TSW6 features. They are TSW6 content by definition as they released for and only work with TSW6.
By the literal definition yes you are correct!! Im aware its tsw6 content because it came out on tsw6 thanks for clarifying that for me!.. But cant help feel your still missing the point I'm trying to make here I cant express it any other way.. so ill just say have a nice Thursday.. o7
OP is talking about content being marketed and sold as TSW6 content despite having no TSW6 features. What's stopping such content from working in TSW5?
I feel like some in this thread are purposely misunderstanding OPs point. The fact that nothing (except B2C) released since the main TSW6 has any TSW6 features is a disgrace tbh. There is already only a very tenuous need for a new edition each year, if subsequent DLC doesn’t even have any of the new features then what is the point of the new edition. It’s laughable really & I sincerely hope that the modders recently contracted into their own third party company are paid to bring some of the much needed fixes and feature extensions to some older routes. C’mon DTG, how about you do something to boost your reputation with the community.
Because content released for TSW6, only works for TSW6, and is not available for TSW5. So despite not having the new TSW6 features, they're TSW6 content. Is that really hard to understand?
If a bottle of wine is produced and shipped to the store in 2024 but the manager decides to change the label and keep it off the shelves until 2025, it doesn't suddenly become 2025 wine. Is that really hard to understand?
One thing is for sure, it will be a travesty if they try and give us TSW 7 in nine months time!! One thing even surer though. They will!!
I did not expect this to become so relevant so quickly Hearing the work that went into to Morristown signals on the pre release stream is a major reason i decided to give it a try.. Shame poor management at DTG is starting to force talented devs out the door And also major respect for being the first to stand up and actually do something that hopefully sparks a change! Good luck to them Edit Just seen the Original thread and seen the news is like over a week old... but still I didn't know this this morning!
Wine is completely different to DLC for a game. Very poor analogy. It works on 6, released for 6, is not at all available on 5, so is TSW6 content. The definition goes on release date, not on whether or not certain features are present. Otherwise, many TSW5 DLC wouldn't be TSW5 content, because as I recall, there have been TSW5 DLC that didn't have TSW5 features either. How can we have TSW5 content released on TSW6 that doesn't work on TSW5? We can't, so it can't be TSW5 content. It really is simple as that.
So we starting to see the pattern here?! Forget what number is on the box.. >They force out a new version with new features every year.. >New features dont get used for the first X months because all the "new" content isnt actually new.. >no one bothers to implement new features moving forward.. > the last few DLC "might" have some of the new features > next yearly version drops.. Your only argument so far is on the definition of what release dates mean.. and you're missing the point completely.. at this point.. has to be purposefully.. Go watch train sim societys new video on YT.. they have made a good job of touching on this subject..
You wanted to know when we would see "actual TSW6 content". But that is literally everything that has released since TSW6. I do agree that they should all have TSW6 specific features, but it doesn't mean they're not TSW6 content just because they don't. Content can be released for a game and not take advantage of all the latest features, particularly when in this case those features need to be applied on a route-by-route basis. I'm ending this there. This clearly isn't going anywhere constructive.
And still you miss the point.... No the Fact they were all developed for TSW5 makes them "Not TSW6 content" Pacer pack- dev has said its been with QA for months Crewe-brum - was ready for release IN JUNE was pushed back and rushed onto 6 (i wonder why its so broken) Class 20- I havnt found anything saying when it was ready yet... but the dev has said a patch is done given to DTG.. but due to DTGs "backend" we wont get that this year.. Santafe pack- again was made and submitted for TSW5... quickly rushed onto 6.. That is what makes them all TSW5 content!!! The fact they were made for 5! .. also good luck 'ending' anything on an open thread in a public fourm!!
At the end of the day, they can't be called TSW5 content when they don't even work on TSW5. Really is as simple as that. Selling something for TSW6 and saying it's TSW5 content is misleading and actually false advertising when it isn't even available on TSW5. Think whatever you like, I don't care. As far as I'm concerned, if it's not available on TSW5, it's not TSW5 content. And I can end this discussion just as much as I can continue it. I've made my opinion known (and that's precisely what it is - an opinion), there's nothing else to say, so this discussion ends.
So every previous TSW version DLC you can download for 6 Right now is TSW6 content by your reasoning? They were all made for a previous version But can download for 6 right now So must be tsw6 content right?! If i scoop up some dirt.. slap it on a plate ... but call it dinner.. are you going to eat it? It is dinner after all.. cus ive made it avaliable for dinner i dont understand why so many users on here will go through hell or high water to make excuses on behalf of DTG.. We 'the customers' are being taken for absolute mugs since 6 came out.. -here have broken routes we know are broken cus "we tested"!! -here have old content we made for out last yearly title... ignore the crossed out 5.. it brand new.. promise.. no new features though.. because "reasons" -here lets not fixed any of our mistakes -here lets treat devs like s@#t and wonder why they walk away -here lets make 0 public statement around the subject and let the community work itvall out for themselves Cool you clearly chose the continue option as you replied so here we are...
Take the Japanese route for example, it's announched in the TSW4 era I believe, so when it releases for TSW6, but they don't included TSW6 features, it's a TSW4 DLC? Delays can be caused by testing but also by just smarter planning. They just could have released everything around the same time in the end of the TSW5 lifespan, however this can hurt sales when releases are to close on each other. Instead they choose to release it after the release of TSW6, so they also have some new stuff to sell in those months. Otherwise it would be very quiet right now with no releases. Besides the arguments above, the pacer is for a route which does not include anouncements or train faults anyway, so not that weird those new features are not included for this unit. If I'm correct, the other released trains are also for old routes, so again I'm not surprised those new features are not included. The people who paid for the core routes of TSW6 have got the new features on those routes, if you buy additional content for older routes, this may not include the new features.
So you’re sort of saying that dlc released before free roam became a feature shouldn’t be used on free roam after that was implimented in a new version of TSW?
I was wondering when you'd bring this up. If you check the Microsoft store then old content carries a "compatible" logo to state that it's been brought forward from previous releases, so unfortunately that's not a valid argument in an otherwise perfectly valid concern. People do tend to forget though that DTG announced their 'new' game as having various new features, so you would fully expect those features to be included in subsequent DLC's regardless of when it/they were conceived because, well, the game you purchased stated that they'd be there....and for that reason alone I'm really struggling to understand why there should even be the smallest hint of a counter-argument on the op's comments. I don't know, it's almost like some folk are happy with the fact they're being a bit short-changed!
You know, maybe if they just stopped pointlessly adding 1 to the logo each year this discussion wouldn't need to be had
