Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition! This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Re-shades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor. This is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 10PM GMT on Saturday, November 29th 2025 and will be judged by me - Craigie-C In the event of this week's winner not responding by 10PM GMT on Sunday, December 30th 2025, a new thread will be created using the results of this week's poll. The theme for this week is: Back In The Day Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. Good luck to you all.
"Back in the Day" We're inside my fictional late-1990s BR timeline, where Labour won the 1992 election, rail privatisation didn't happen and short-haul domestic air travel was placed under severe taxation to encourage greener forms of transport. 1L96 2305 London Euston-Carlisle (the 'Night Cumbrian' sleeper) powers through the curve just north of Tebay at the start of the incline to Shap Summit. It is just after 0645 in the morning and the new day is emerging from the mist. Route - WCML Over Shap in the 1980s (Keith Ross / Steam Workshop Edit) Loco - Class 90 (AP/Waggonz) Stock - AP Mark 2A-C & Mark 2E, IC Mark 3 Sleepers (James Ivell / Clowes) Mods - AP Light/Weather/Vegetation/Signalling/Track mods
Mark 2B/C example from the AP packs. They did appear pretty interchangeably in the WCML and inter-regional rakes. By my logic, compartment stock is better for overnight services and an expanded IC sleeper operation would have retained/refurbished as many as possible, including the illusive Mk2D FKs. Now that’s a model I wish we had!
Back in the day almost every industrial plant had a large railway complex of some kind! Here from the inside of a warehouse, Standard Steel Car Company Baldwin Locomotive Works 0-6-0 '1' is seen shunting hoppers in Butler, Pennsylvania of the United States America during a late Spring morning in 1925. Motive Power: Baldwin Locomotive Works 0-6-0 Route: Pennsylvania Steam Scenario: Standard Steel - Yard Work Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, Reshade
Back in the day before a lot of rural lines closed throughout the latter half of the 1900s, railway companies still tried to do anything to keep them running where possible. Such methods were using primitive railcars / railbuses as seen here on the fictional Matsuhara Line (based on the real life Furusato Ginga Line) in Hokkaido, Japan where a Matsuhara Railway KiHa 720 (based on the Coaster B20 bus) is seen making a passenger stop at Numasoko. Motive Power: KiHa 720 (Coaster B20) Route: The Story of Forest Rail Scenario: 2. First time on duty Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, Reshade
Back in the day, the Woodhead Line was the pioneer of electrified mainlines in the UK and was actively used by all kinds of services in it's heyday. Here multiple British Railways Class EM1 services pass eachother on their respective trips to and from Manchester, England of the United Kingdom. Motive Power: British Rail Class EM1 / British Rail Class 76 Route: Woodhead Scenario: To Lincoln Central Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, Golden Age Developments Woodhead Line - Track Patch, Reshade
Hi guys, have waited till now in the hope of some late entries but sadly not. Firstly I would like to thank you both for taking the time to contribute, and considering I only have 5 images to choose from, you certainly haven't made it easy to pick a winner, but pick I must! In 3rd place Limeyfox for this brilliant Picture Postcard interpretation, thinking outside the box, love it. In 2nd place Blazin for this amazing Pennsylvanian yard industrial capture. Your choice of viewpoint and included content is just stunning. Which leaves me the pleasure of announcing this week's winner as:- Limeyfox for this glorious misty early morning image of a north bound Night Cumbrian Sleeper. Not only have you pressed my buttons with your chosen Loco and Livery (two of my favourites) but also the angle of shot, lighting and for me the way the hills in the background loom through the mist, just did it for me. Well done. Again many thanks to you both for your continued support of this thread, and congratulations Limeyfox. I hereby entrust your good self with the safekeeping of the sacred Golden Master Key to lead us forward. Cheers guys.
