Firstly I'm trying out a clickbait title akin to a YouTube creator. I feel dirty, like a soiled piece of underwear taking this approach.......

Now.... let's get back to business.....

TIMETABLES and SECRET SERVICES (more capitals I know)

I was curious abd wished yo pose a questikn, we have the amazing services thread but how do people find the interesting services. When a timetable comes with 1400 you can choose from, we have multiple routes etc, how do you find the good ones.

Equally does anyone have any user tips for finding seasonal services.

With their being potentially in excess of 15000 services you could have as a player and finite lifetimes I'm really keen to know how people find these easter egg and fun services.

I'm confident we all have a route with something really interesting we don't know yet in it

Can only speak for my contributions, but for me I just pick a service that I like the look of and if I particularly enjoy it and find it interesting or enjoyable (adverse signals etc) I put details on the thread

There was one service on ECML which departed Doncaster, but instead of running straight up the main line, routed via the Spalding/Worksop line, then over the flyover at Black Carr before dropping down the chord to rejoin the ECML. Can't remember the exact train but it was mid evening out of Doncaster around 1900, possibly a service from Leeds.

Is that the 1818 by any chance? The one that leaves platform 8 southbound?

I always forget platform 8 is also bi-directional. Platform 4 is also bi-directional but that gets used "wrong way" way more often as the Adwick to Sheffield stopper uses it.

Come to think I also saw a Northern service to Hull go from 1 instead of 0 once

The only platforms at Doncaster that aren't bi-directional are the bay ones.

Platform 3 is only really used for northbound departures on rare occasions, usually in times of service disruption from what I've seen (I know for a fact TPE trains which end at Doncaster after not being able to go further have done this and turned back to Cleethorpes). Not 100% sure if it really is bi-directional though as it doesn't appear to be a regular occurrence.

Northern Hull stoppers use platform 1 first thing in the morning because the Scunthorpe stopper, which is on platform 0, leaves Doncaster before the Hull one. Think it does this at another point during the day as well. First LNER to Edinburgh (which starts at Doncaster) uses platform 1 as well I believe.

I've opted for scouring the time tables to see if there's any easter eggs buried in the service explanations
