I love how the route looks at night too. It has actually just occurred to me though that functionally it is like an OpenBVE route in that it only works correctly in one direction: Leaving Waverley and heading for Leven we are riddled with signalling problems, but depart from Leven, Markinch or the platform at Glenrothes it all seems to work correctly. I'm from Edinburgh and agree that Dunfermline isn't that convincing; especially the deserted dual carriageway.
I was a little disappointed by the lack of off map destinations for AI. I thought they would’ve been included because the 158 timetable for Edinburgh-Glasgow handled that really well (apart from a few missing destinations that I noticed, like trains to Inverness from Glasgow Queens Street). I believe that originally though, the 158 timetable for Edinburgh-Glasgow came without the extra off map destinations for AI, and they were added in an update along with more services. So I hope that it’s something that can be added in an update. It just kind of kills the immersion for me to see trains with a final destination of Haymarket from Edinburgh Waverley, and to see trains with no destinations at all.
Quite disappointed that there is still no update to the Fife Circle route yet, it’s been out a very long time. The signalling on the route for me is the biggest issue, I really hope rivet can fix that. It’s a basic feature of a train simulation game.
And the 170 still has no running sounds despite the release notes for this week's update saying they'd been fixed.
Just had a run from Leven in the Leven livery and it was a pretty good run overall. I implore DTG/Skyhook & Rivet to please finish this route off. Genuinely believe by doing the bits listed below this would be the best route in the game. Ok I’m probably biased as South Gyle is my local station. Most of the things required are functionality already in the game and with the I7C coming gives that opportunity to not only polish this route but maximise sales of that too!! General/Route - Full timetable as at current day Include Voyager services to Dundee & Aberdeen Include Glasgow QS/Central services(Waverley/Haymarket way to quiet) Approach control to Leven branch Platform PIS to show Edinburgh Gateway Platform announcements Stopping location at Leven Ai station & train destinations Populate or remove the blank journey in journey mode, preventing completion of chapter 158 - Fix/implement Announcements PIS should be Edinburgh Waverley Door beep sounds for opening Implement Suspension 170 - New sounds applied as per BCC Implement suspension Headlights for AI only show on one side
Did a spawn in on TT from Edinburgh to Inverkeithing. Spad at signal before Inverkeithing with no prior yellow. Looks like this bug is back with this TT.
It looks like the original timetable works except announcements at Kinghorn as before. But the Sprinter timetable announcemenys are a mess. Something went wrong with the update. You can drive the trains, but it's weird when you know what could have been and probably is worked on.
Avanti and LNER do (Sprinter timetable at least). CrossCountry, simply because the Voyager came out long after the new timetable was ready (it's been ready since March this year).
Seems it's too big an ask for them to fix this small (albeit annoying) bug whereby Dunfermline City and Dunfermline Queen Margaret still show up as just "Dunfermline" - surely can't be too hard to fix ?? This is maybe more one for the folk who think the scenery on this route is good, or even just fine. Night time run so the clarity isn't great but this is the bottom of one of Fife's busiest dual carriageways just outside Dunfermline City station. Just look at the "quality" of the road to begin with and then try and drive under the bridge on the inside lane - smack into the bridge ! Plenty more examples - raised roundabouts, missing Queensferry Crossing and the shambles that is Edinburgh Airport, but my Xbox app isn't letting me download all my captures for some reason. Maybe just as well as could be here all day. Nobody is expecting scenery to be perfect, but this is just downright bloody risible.
Someone in the thread in general discussion speculated that Skyhook (probably accidentally) used an emergency timetable during the time of industrial action.
I’ve noticed that the special livery of the Leven branch is more prone to the issue. If I uninstall the Pendolino and Flying Scotsman layers, the regular ScotRail livery has no blurriness problems.
Probably one of the coolest UK routes I've ever owned, I can see why the first scenario has you going and stopping at the different viewpoints. That being said, pretty disappointing all the little bugs this route has, and how (judging from the release of TSW6) this route will probably not have any more of those issues fixed. Shame, because this route is definitely one of the better lines in the game.
I agree. It’s one of my favorite routes, full of unique details, like the Forth Bridge, Waverley station, the night lighting, by far the best in the game (Edinburgh Castle and the buildings around the station are really striking). It’s a pity about the bugs, though they don’t completely ruin the experience.
As I play more of it, I notice more bugs too sadly, like how the open door right buttons for some reason are grayed out, even though the door close button isn't???? Tiny little things like that that someone probably wouldn't notice on a first glance which I guess really just reflects a lack of polish (slowly understanding the sentiments in this mega-thread).
Has anyone managed to complete the ‘High Winds’ scenario on Xbox Series X? I've tried it four times now, but I only get as far as the fallen tree. After that, I'm supposed to change cabs, but the signal (EY955) before Dalmeny stays red. I've tried several things, such as braking immediately after the ‘Go via’ point, driving up to the signal at the tree, and so on, but nothing has changed. Even contacting the signaller and waiting 15 minutes in front of the red signal doesn't help. There are no other trains nearby and all other signals are red too. That seem‘s to be a bug. Could this be logged please candacedtg ? Thank u.
I don't think that's an Xbox specific bug as I had the same problem with the Windows version of the game and route.
I remember experiencing a similar issue on NTB back when that launched with a scenario also with a fallen tree. It likewise gave the the prompt to change cabs but then never let me progress, until I discovered a hidden objective to walk up to the tree first, which I never got a notification for, it just skipped to telling me to do the cab change, and because of that I kept ending up unable to complete the scenario without going back and doing that missing step.
I don't remember that issue in Niddertalbahn months ago, but I just tried it again and got pretty close: the message "lock doors" at the preceding station got stuck. Indeed walking up to right spot on the tree offers a prompt that allows progress. I do remember struggling with the instruction "Inser the brake key" (sic) a little later because the brake key was already inserted. But I think that's because I used the keyboard shortcut to insert the reverser instead of clicking. Doing that again twice got me to the next instruction.
So returning to this route, dismayed to find the Class170 still has zero track running sounds, not even any clatter going through points and junctions. I thought they were supposed to be fixing this in connection with the BCC reskins?
Only played this route for the first time a few weeks ago, also noticed this, does need to be fixed! Otherwise it’s quite a nice route . One other issue with the 158 sprinter table , I noticed no Edinburgh to Glasgow AI services on class 385 , only Dunblane services , is this intentional?
Yes I posted about the very thin Skyhook timetable in its separate thread. Virtually no trains after 1900 when on the prototype there is an intensive service pretty much up to midnight including two trains an hour on the Leven branch. As regards the 170, that is entirely on Rivet, was going to ping Jasper but seems he has closed his forum account (heads in the sand folks!) so that avenue is no longer open even if there was never any response.
I've long since added this to the list of broken promises dovetail make in order to get you to buy their latest product (such as an additional save slot) I've tried asking in various threads about this and even went as far as posting my own thread in general discussion which was quickly moved by a community manager to the troubleshooting forum without even a courtesy reply so I've given up on it and also hardly play Tsw now as these things tend to leave a bad taste in the mouth. You'd think they'd at least have the courtesy to give a bit of detail about when something they said would be happening in their own live stream would actually happen rather than ignoring any mention of it 6 months later when said thing never happens. And before anyone says it, I don't care if Rivet made the DLC and are responsible for it. I paid dovetail for it and would have hoped they had higher standards than releasing 3rd party products which are obviously knackered but then seemingly don't care and ignore anyone mentioning said problems. I guess that sums dovetail up though. Always selling, never fixing.
Sadly seems to be the case. And as I said above, the Rivet CM seems to have removed or blocked his forum account to prevent pings or DM’s. Thing is, WCL still stands testimony to Rivet and their DTG overboss’ attitude when they can’t be bothered to do a simple fix to correct a wrong speed limit on the St Ives branch. Back on the subject of the 170, I had an AWS warning on the approach to Waverley which then muted briefly what there is of the traction sounds, before they recovered. Rivet and DTG can rest assured, I will not be buying either the BCC 170 pack or the Connex 171 pack when it releases, until they sort out their existing messes.
To be fair the BCC 170 isn’t too bad , but I can understand the frustration. I had the BCC 170 before getting Fife circle , and had high hopes for the Fife circle 170, which were dashed!
Hope it’s ok to repost this from the Scotrail 158 thread as relevant here too - anyone else got a 158 stuck southbound after stopping at North Queensbury and trying to restart up the 1/70 gradient in the snow?
