Yes, what I would like to do is a railtour, departing London at Saint-Pancras and going all the way to Scotland via Carlisle.
So the first leg would be the route Lukozer mentionned, then it would be JT's MML I suppose ?

Exactly that. The first leg of St. Pancras to Leicester by means of the Workshop route I shared, then on to the JT MML which will take you as far as Manchester Piccadilly.

Do you think it can compete with the new AP extension, in terms of quality ? Or will that be useful only for the missing leg to Leicester ?
Or... it isn't the same era (regarding OHLE).
Sorry, I do not know the details precisely, I'm just discovering this stuff (only used WCML or ECML for years).

That implies being back on the WCML way before Carlisle (around Wigan I suppose)... but is that even possible in TSC ???

I'm not familiar with any route from AP other than the Wherry Lines route, unless you're referring to their enhancement pack for the Bed-Pan line? I've never seen it so I can't say if it compares (their description of it has me thinking my 12 year old CPU might not welcome that particular enhancement), but I'd imagine the AP enhanced version will look a lot better than a freeware version that is using DTG assets only. What I can tell you the OHLE stops at Bedford regardless of which version you use, even the workshop route that covers the entire St. Pancras to Leicester route, but this isn't that big a deal since there's no OHLE on the MML anyway.

Regarding joining the WCML from Manchester, I think it is possible but you'll need a third party route to plug the gap left by DTG. There is the "missing link" route DLC from ATS... but I'm very reluctant to recommend anything from ATS.

I regret to admit that this is not possible. :(
Manchester is outside the scope of this route.
