Has anyone experienced TSW6 crashing lately on PC? Earlier today, I was playing a career scenario with mods enabled for Preston to Carlisle. It was running smoothly, after a while, I paused the game and left it running for about 3 hours in the background. When I returned I experienced this crash.

Later on in the day, I decided to disable all mods in TSW6 and do a career scenario run with the Class 350/1 on Birmingham to Crewe. I gave up as I could not get the train moving after making a passenger station stop. For some reason, the 350 seems to have this bug lately, but not sure if it's just in my version of TSW6. After I exited from TSW6, I got this same crash message again

Would anyone know what is causing this crash to occur? For the last 2 months, I have been running TSW6 without any issues but today, these 2 crashes occurred hours apart from each other. 1st instance was with mods installed and 2nd instance was with mods uninstalled

I don't have TSW crashing on me that often, but crashes definitely have become more frequent with TSW6. Before that, I had about 3-4 crashes per year. Since TSW6 it's roughly one crash every three weeks. Still not too bothersome, but noticeable nonetheless.

Couldn't pinpoint what exactly causes the crashes yet. But I had a very similar experience:
Couple of days ago I did some freight service with the E94 on Linke Rheinstrecke. Had to leave the PC for a while and paused it, hitting Esc. Everything looked fine when I left, but when I returned about 30 minutes later, the game had crashed.

Oddly enough I've been having way less crashes on TSW6 than on 5 in general. Not sure about yesterday's update, only did a full run on WCMLoS yesterday (plenty of time for one evening on a workday), so can't tell if it's gotten worse now.

    Hi malikrthr ,

The error looks like a graphics card issue, but if you've been using mods there's a good chance they are still interfering with the game, and may not have been completely disabled. However, we'd recommend starting from the beginning and try the troubleshooting steps we've provided in the pinned thread: Troubleshooting Crashes & Other Technical Issues Guide

Hi DTG-Chris , thank you for letting me know. A few minutes ago, I made sure to permanently delete all the mods that I had previously installed, roughly around 142. I removed the add on manager, and TSW Route & Annotations as well as the graffiti and cross city enhancements mastery reward via mod from Train Sim Community site. Currently, my RTX 3070 GPU is at the latest driver, version 581.80. The next GPU driver that releases, I will make sure to perform a clean install instead of the express install. I verified the integrity of the TSW6 files twice today and can confirm that all 552 files have been verified successfully. Thank you for providing me with the troubleshooting guide. I will check it out to see if I am missing anything

I wonder if it may have something to do with the way the texture pool is handled in TSW6. I will say, Preston to Carlisle and Birmingham to Crewe appear to be very detailed routes. Perhaps my GPU may be struggling with all the textures and scenery details loading in but not too sure. Hopefully with all mods officially removed now, hopefully no more crashes occur but lets see

I remember the last time I had a crash in TSW5 was from the LIRR commuter route with mods installed. I notice when I removed the mods a while ago in TSW5, no more crashes occurred. WCMLOS appears to be well optimized when running without mods. Using the enhanced timetable mod is really cool but can be a bit more taxing on the system due to all the trains loading into scene and enhanced/added scenery details across the route

Waiting for render happens now and again for me on starting the game. I think it tends to happen if something else is running in the background (typically Windows Update) as UE seems a bit fussy about task sharing with anything other than a browser window and Steam being open. And yes updating your graphics driver does seem to help, even if there have been no visible updates to the TSW code itself.

Windows Update in the background should not give a crash and i have never had one... Its more youre pc is to old and not strong enough to do both. If you have a decent pc you do not have such issues.

So then explain why TSW can run for weeks at a time without seeing this issue. Yes my PC might be a potato but it still packs a punch. Titles like Snowrunner or Farm Sim 25 never abend on starting, even Roadcraft which technically is over what my video card can actually run. Rock solid.

So I do wish you would stop trying to be an apologist for DTG's shoddy programming... :)

What? Sorry, I find this a bit childish... You’re the one who keeps saying that your PC is really bad, and I just wrote that together with a Windows Update running in the background, that’s probably not going to work very well. Besides, this has nothing to do with being a “fan of DTG.” You’re the one who keeps painting the situation by repeatedly saying that your PC is “potato”...

It’s obviously a sometimes yes, sometimes no kind of story… Whatever suits you.

It's actually a very tasty potato. Served with a dash of proper butter and salad cream. I like my potato!

It wouldn't be the first game to crash while left running in the background. Even though the game is paused it's still using resources and allocating memory etc. if tsw is using 90% vram and you open another app that needs more memory than you have left of course, tsw is going to crash.
