Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition! This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Re-shades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor. This is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 10PM GMT on Saturday, December 13th 2025 and will be judged by me - Limeyfox In the event of this week's winner not responding by 10PM GMT on Sunday, December 14th 2025, a new thread will be created using the results of this week's poll. The theme for this week is: Unusual Combinations Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. Good luck to you all.
DB Cargo Class 151 '151 135-1' is seen in the unusual situation of leading a passenger service! Here, a regional train broke down on the Cologne-Duisburg Railway just near Langenfeld (Rheinl)-Berghausen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and '151 135-1' was an available loco sent to relieve the service for continuation to Köln Hbf. Motive Power: DB Class 151 Route: Cologne-Dusseldorf Scenario: 9 - Towing service Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, Reshade
On heritage railways, any manner of unusual combination is possible! Here Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Fowler Class 4F '43924' and West Country Class '34092' 'City of Wells' work together passing through Damems to operate an evening grand finale service of 12 coaches headed southwards for Oxenhope, England in the United Kingdom for an Autumn Gala that was being held on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Motive Power: LMS Fowler Class 4F, SR West Country Class Route: The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Scenario: Autumn Gala Part 11 Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, Armstrong Powerhouse Vegetation Enhancement Pack, Reshade
Guilford Rail System is preparing for a rebranding into Pan Am Railways, and with that comes an order of several second hand EMD SD40-2 locomotives that have been repainted into the new scheme. Here, Guilford Rail Systems EMD GP40 '328' is seen making an unusual sight hauling 5 of these new locomotives over the Back Cove Swing Bridge heading for Rigby Yard, Maine in the United States of America. Motive Power: EMD GP40 / EMD SD40-2 Route: Portland Terminal Scenario: Switching 1: The New Kids on the Block Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, Reshade
Limeyfox also a quick question for you. I notice you have labeled this weeks competition as "Weeks 45-46", just making sure it means just Week 46 and the usual 7 day deadline is in effect for this week? That's all I'm wondering really. The last week was a fortnightly run of 2 weeks (44 and 45) because the winner of 43 didn't come forwards, and by the time we were to set up a new thread it was late into the week so it became a sort of fortnightly contest. You, me and Craigie-C are currently the only active competitors as well so I'll ask this considering the fact due to the decline of activity on the TSC side of the forum we often have very limited competition to begin with. But moving forwards should we extend the deadline to be on a fortnightly basis for the foreseeable future, in the hopes it may allow for extra submissions especially if people feel too busy to submit at the time? I remember a while ago we discussed changing it to monthly like the official contest, but decided at the time such a change was unnecessary and too large. But now I feel potentially switching to fortnightly is a good "in-between" and we may be at a state that we might have to change some things up or risk these weekly comps dying off completely which is the last thing we want!! It's up to you guys and what you think.
Blazin TBH it was just a silly error on my part, it didn't occur to me when I updated for the new dates etc. I'll let others contribute on whether this should be a one-week or two-week competition, maybe if there's only a small number of contributions by Saturday we can keep it going for another week? I've amended the thread title for now, cheers for pointing out.
20901 + 20014 head an unusual consist southbound past Chesterfield with an S7 Underground unit headed for Litchurch Lane for a refurb. Due to the ongoing works at Derby this 7X10 (Banbury to St Marys) service has had to take the long way round. With 2x TBA tanks as brake assists, and 66 724 on the rear this was not exactly a common sight on the East Midlands network.
Derby seems to be the hub of unusual combinations. Here we see ROG 37 800 heading to "Brush" at Loughborough with 319369 in tow for conversion to a 769 unit. In the sidings are Colas Rail 37219 + Network Rail 97304 and also the "Flying Banana" Top and tailed by 43014 and 43299
Covering for a last minute failure at Norwich, 56069 instead of usual ETH fitted Class 47 is seen dragging 86217 "Halley's Comet" with 1P04 the 0730 Liverpool Street to Great Yarmouth near Brundall Gardens.
HST GTI. In the late 1990s, Virgin Trains Cross Country used spare HST power cars and 2 MK3 trailers to supplement their Class 158s on services from Edinburgh to Manchester Airport. 43155 "City of Aberdeen" and a classmate are seen here making a spirited departure from Penrith with 1M89 the 14.12 Edinburgh Waverley to Manchester Airport
Hi Folks This week we've had 5 submissions but from only 2 contributors; therefore as it's approaching the deadline I propose extending this by another week. Does this sound acceptable (based on previous comments, hopefully it does?)
Another MML Derby capture, this time we have NR DVT 82 124. NR Class 73 (73 213) and DRS Class 37 (37 218) all neatly connected to a rake of MK3 Network Rail engineering carriages.
An unlikely pairing. Thursday 21 August 1980, 40179 failed on a gradient with 6V00 (12.20 Carlisle-Severn Tunnel Junction), LMS Jubilee 5690 Leander was on a railtour at the time. She was sent to rescue the stricken train and is seen here approaching Dent.
Hi, just letting you know we unfortunately can't see your screenshots! You seem to be trying to share them through the forums "media" feature and I get this error trying to view them: It seems they also have to be "reviewed" by the staff before we can see your messages as well when sent this way, as your posts only appeared just recently in between our already sent messages. I recommend to upload your screenshots to threads using the "Upload a File" feature at the bottom of your posts: Then you can attach any screenshot directly to your post from your computer's file library and to display it on your post just click on "Full Image". That way they can be posted instantly and we don't have to go through external links to other parts of the forum to see them.
